I was hoping to do a wine tasting outdoors, but unfortunately, wine flights are only available indoors. The bar area was small and completely full, with no seats available or even enough room to comfortably stand. We ended up ordering two glasses of wine instead and sat outside. The weather was a bit warm but still tolerable. I asked a staff member why we were given stemless glasses while guests at the bar had stemmed glasses, especially since I was drinking sparkling wine that would be better kept cool instead of warming up the glass. He explained that stemmed glasses can tip over more easily outdoors, whereas stemless glasses are more stable. I understand the reasoning, but I wish they offered outdoor wine flights using stemless glasses instead. Many wineries offer outdoor tastings, and we likely would have purchased a bottle or two if we'd had the opportunity to sample more of their wines first. On the plus side, there was an outdoor pizza oven that day, operated by a separate business. We ordered the sausage and potato pizza based on the pizza owner's recommendation. It was over $30, but the portion was enough for two adults to share. One thing worth mentioning is that it was quite warm, and we didn't realize there were complimentary bottled glass waters in a fridge until we were leaving and saw another guest grab one. It would have been helpful to know about the water, especially since we were sitting outside in the heat. They did have a self-serve water canteen with cups next to it, but I didn't feel comfortable using that to fill up my Hydroflask and take all the water. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, but I think offering outdoor wine flights and letting guests know about the complimentary glass water bottles would make the experience even better. We would have loved the opportunity to try more wines rather than settling for individual glasses.

Parking was a headache. Especially factoring in our visit happening on Labor Day weekend, there was a ton of foot traffic. The check in and wait for a table was just as bad in the eatery. I used the time to look over the menu. Here you will find classic American comfort foods and fancier items with an elevated twist. There is essentially something for everyone. Lunch for our party: *BALSAMIC BRUSSELS SPROUTS *MIXED GREENS SALAD WITH BLACKENED SALMON *GRILLED LAMB CHOPS *KID'S CHICKEN TENDERS WITH VEGGIES Food was pretty good. The lamb chops were exceptional and although the blackened salmon didn't taste or look so delicious, I appreciated it not being overcooked. The chicken tenders were a nice golden brown and was not over battered and the medley of fresh veggies were really good. The balsamic brussels were good in size but the flavoring wasn't the best. All in all, the food was enjoyed. The one mishap that stood out was with Tessa H. forgetting my toddler's drink. We were half way through our meal when I realized nothing had been brought out to us even after the drink order had been taken. Not likely to return, mainly because of an unpleasant seating experience. We arrived on time for our 6:30 p.m. reservation and stood beside the reception desk "wait to be seated" sign to allow others to come in out of the rain behind us. When the receptionist walked up, she started checking the reservation of the couple who came in after us, so I told her that we had arrived first. I had to repeat that three times before she even acknowledged me, and then she just acted irritated that I was interrupting her and directed a server to seat the other couple first at a table upstairs. She then checked our reservation and seated us downstairs at an open table that did not appear to be reserved. The table was somewhat cramped and in a cool location, so upon sitting down, my wife expressed a preference for a table upstairs and I went back to the receptionist and asked to move to an upstairs table. She responded negatively, telling me that all upstairs tables were reserved. Only later did I realize that did not make sense because we had reservations, yet we were seated downstairs at an unreserved table and the couple who arrived after us received upstairs seating (as did other couples who arrived after us). Despite souring our mood, we did not make a fuss and ate our meals, which were passable. Our pasta dishes were good but not great, but the peach cobbler was subpar -- it was too sweet and tasted more like peach preserves with a thin, powdery crumb crust than cobbler. I nevertheless left a fairly generous tip because I did not want to penalize the server, who was pleasant and efficient, for the receptionist's rudeness. read more

Have to speak to the review that Jean H. recently left as we were customers downstairs when Jean chose to make a spectacle of the lovely waitress, Taylor! Firstly, there were no other tables upstairs so the "white" people Jean references sitting next to her table is not factual. Taylor catered to Jean and her group as they were seated downstairs next to us originally and requested to be moved upstairs where no other tables were seated. Taylor acknowledged their request. Secondly, I overheard Taylor take accountability for the mistake of the table being entered as 6 customers rather than 5, enabling auto gratuity. Taylor stated it could have been her mistake as she is new to the establishment and immediately corrected the auto gratuity that was added to the bill. These individuals were not happy with anything she did even with the fix and to go as far as to call her "racist" just to pull the race card is absolutely disgusting! We were served by Taylor (and have been many times) and always have the best customer service and most definitely will continue coming back! We have witnessed her serving various groups of people and her good service is consistent with everyone. Food is delicious and everyone should experience Franny's! read more

I run a very popular restaurant in Oakland, Ca that has been around for almost 22 years. I know how hard it is. THIS place is doing everything right. We walked in on a Wed am with 5pp and were seated immediately in the front window at a very cute spot. Our server was outgoing and helpful with menu info. There is something for everyone, bordeline too many options (at least for me as too many options tend to severely effect my ability to make a damn decision). Everything from the BLT (with Swiss which I very much wanted to hate -cause-swiss-but was awesome), to the Rueben, to the breakfast sandwich was tasty. BUT the PBJ Burger is STUPID good. Who the HELL thought of THAT abomination?? Like how stoned do you have to be to put those things together?? Whomever the brain child of that one please thank them for me, for us. WE ALL enjoyed a bite. My 15 year old son was very proud of his choice and enjoyed the other half that night at home for dinner. I want to shout out to our server, I cant recall her name but she had beautiful eyes and black eyeliner. We look forward to returning for a proper weekend breakfast. Thank you guys, great job! read more

The name of the restaurant is inviting, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The entire place could really use a deep cleaning. Our booth seating had food crumbs from previous guests, and flies were constantly buzzing around us and our food, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. The restroom was also poorly maintained--there was no toilet paper or paper towels, and the cleanliness left much to be desired. We also noticed the baseboards and floors near the kitchen and food storage areas were quite dirty. It's a shame because the concept seems promising, but cleanliness is a basic standard that was clearly overlooked. read more

Pleasantly surprised!…read more We stopped here on a whim on our way back from South Lake Tahoe, after a round of golf. Walked in, not expecting much, but at least some decent food to feed our hungry belly's. It was Saturday evening around 615ish, front of house was running around, but when she spotted us, showed us to our table, gave menus, and apologized as it might be a minute before our server would be able to take our orders because it has suddenly gotten busier than expected (large place but only about 1/4 full, but with 2 large groups, one of which was just seated before us) she came back with waters while we looked at the menu. Once our server came she was polite and took our drink order, promising to be back to take our food order. Understandably it took longer than usual to come back, so another man came to take our order. He apologized for the wait and said he would be happy to take our orders. We think he was the manager or possibly owner, really nice gentleman. We ordered the tiger prawns and Brussels sprouts appetizers, I ordered fish n chips, my husband ordered the rib eye with Mac n cheese and our friend ordered the salmon. The Tiger Prawns and Brussels came out first and the tiger prawns were amazing! 5 large tiger prawns, a couple pcs of toasted baguette, and in a type of white wine garlic Alfredo sauce type. The sauce was perfection, as I dipped each bite of prawn and soaked the accompanied bread. The Brussels were just as amazing, fried to have a nice crisp to it, but not soaking in oil, so they must've been fried in the perfect temp oil or something, and the glaze was just right (a lot of places just drench them in glaze as they're sitting there soaked in oil, but not the case here!) The ribeye was cooked very well (medium rare) and the hubby thought the salt level was PERFECT. It was a little salty for me, but I don't like a lot of salt. My husband almost always orders a good steak when available, and he thought it was great. The accompanying side of veggies were great too! Heavy on the garlic, but we love garlic so we thought it was perfect. The fish n chips were good, fries were ok, but not my style. They were more like shoe string fries, but that's their thing and a lot of people like that style. The tartar sauce was surprisingly good, and not just that cheap store bought stuff a lot of places tend to give. Friend with the salmon said it was good and ate it all. The gentleman that took our order forgot to add the fish n chips, but quickly rectified it, apologizing and bringing out some fries for me to munch on as the fish was getting cooked. Not a big deal to me, as I was already happy with the other items we had. He also came to our table once we were done and chatted with us for a bit, which was very nice of him. Overall the food was pretty good and would recommend stopping here if you have a chance when you have some time to relax while you eat. The staff are all nice personable. However, when they returned, the waffles were still only lukewarm. The butter wouldn't even melt on them. For $16 a plate, I expected the food to be served hot and fresh, especially with a dish like chicken and waffles. The service also wasn't particularly attentive, which made the experience even more disappointing. We gave the restaurant an opportunity to correct the problem, but unfortunately, the food came back essentially the same. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because the quality of the food and service did not match the price.
