Opened on December 3rd, Patocka's Gastropub is one of the few restaurants in the greater Binghamton area to offer Sunday Brunch. We love Sunday brunches so it was a no brainer to go to Greene, NY to sample the fare. The outside has been renovated, and provided the venerable building with a tasteful front. Inside, it's neat, clean, and tastefully though sparsely decorated. It has a welcoming and comfortable feel. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. We opted for a booth, and Meg's upholstered bench was firm and comfy. I sunk into my bench enough to make the table uncomfortably high. I rolled my coat up to pad the seat, and came up to a roughly normal dining level. Menus, water, cloth napkins, and black tableware were brought right away. Drink orders were taken, and our drinks sat on the bar for over five minutes before our server brought them. It was another five minutes before our meal orders were taken. Our orders arrived in a reasonable time, and looked amazing. Meg's Eggs Benedict was done as she ordered but she'd have liked it a bit warmer. My French Toast, bacon, and Home Fries were all cold. I ate the bacon and toast, but was surprised by my home fries. They were tiny, over cooked, and surprisingly, a mix of white and sweet potatoes. They were not on the menu as such. I enjoy yams on occasion, but the occasion is not for breakfast. And, not cold and hard. Our server offered to get me some white home fries, but the cook told her it was not possible. No other substitution was offered, but she took them off the cheque. The ambient temperature was chilly. Meg wore her coat, I wore a sweater, so we were fairly comfortable. It's a very old building, so I anticipated that, and wore a sweater just in case. The staff were all cordial and friendly, and the pub was very nice inside and out. We were two of only a handful of diners, so the slow pace of service with two servers on duty seemed excessive. The cold food was a problem. I credit the fact that it is a rural village for the pace, but can't think of an excuse for cold meals. I will say that the dishes and the black tableware were epic. Loved them! Will we be going back to Patocka's? You bet. We'll stop by for a weekday lunch or maybe a weekend evening meal to give them another shot. Brunch may have to be mastered, but how is their regular menu? We'll see.

I went here for lunch with some coworkers and everyone enjoyed their meal. I tried the Patocka's Special salad and thought it was a bit underdressed, but not bad. I would come again.

Any other time, if you are not a regular, this place might not be for you. I've been here several times with mixed experiences. The last time I was there was a Thursday in the summer of 2024. My husband, brother and I were excited to find seats at the bar and order dinner. The bartender was a short blonde woman and there was a male bar back. The bartender did not acknowledge us for over 15 minutes. We were actively looking at the menu on our phones and talking about what we wanted to try and attempted to make eye contact with her as she walked by us with no luck. She didn't even say "I will be right with you", literally no interaction. She was very friendly with everyone else around us seeming to know exactly what they were drinking and happy to get it for them. We left as we felt very unwelcome there and ended up having excellent service down the street at Lukin's.

We found this little gem and holy toledo did we we strike gold. First of all, the hostess was super nice and greeted us right away even though she was clearly busy and hustling. We chose to sit outside at a picnic table to soak up the beautiful weather. The outside is fun with brightly painted picnic tables and murals on the building. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestions. She was great and we really enjoyed interacting with her. We started with rum punches which were made with freshly squeezed juice and they were out of this world. We shared the "everything" wings which were crispy and that sauce was delicious. We were tempted to lick the sauce off the plate. We refrained so we didn't get strange looks. I had the Kimchi Reuben which is made with house made kimchi I might add. My husband got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. We both opted for Poutine Fries for our sides. Guys, this food was unique and spectacular. I'm just bummed it's 3 hours from home! But I'll definitely make an effort to be back.

Definitely a spot where you could linger for a while. Food-wise, we ordered the fried rice with crispy chicken (breaded in crushed Cheerios--yes, Cheerios, and yes, surprisingly delicious!), the bánh mì, and the crispy chicken sandwich, which ended up being the star of the show. Every bite of that sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and satisfying. We upgraded our side to the greens, which came topped with some mysterious orange ingredient--maybe a grated carrot dressing? Whatever it was, it was scrumptious. We also ordered a side of pickles, which were surprisingly affordable and so flavorful that they disappeared fast. We didn't try any drinks, but the menu had plenty of interesting options to choose from. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how family-friendly the place felt: while we waited, the kids grabbed a new-to-us game (The Enchanted Forest) from the board game shelves, which made the time fly by. Service was attentive and friendly without hovering, and overall we had a fantastic experience. If we lived closer, this would be a regular lunch spot for sure!
