Mushroom and margarita slices
Jaz M.

This past summer, I found myself in the Greenpoint area, and decided to grab two slices. A mushroom, and a margarita slice..and man was it bad. Unfortunately, they didn't have much flavor-- the sauce was bland, the cheese wasn't great, and the crust bland AND hard as a rock. I added garlic to the slices, but honestly nothing could have saved these. Also, the food was overpriced. Two stars mostly because the guy behind the counter was nice to me.

A real hidden gem for Pizza Shop lovers There's a handful of pizza places in the area but this one is my favorite hands down. Good prices, such a friendly staff, an the dough! The dough...it's so soft but perfectly crunchy. Especially if you get the Stromboli's but this also applies to the crust. They also have some sort of secret recipe for their tomato sauces because I have never tasted ones like what they have. Has a good natural deep flavor

Old school Italian pizza, not many of these spots still around, so I'm happy to be able to get a good old fashion Brooklyn slice locally.

I was heading to a show at the nearby Brooklyn Bazaar and was really looking forward to my usual Greenpoint stop of Triangolo's Pizza down on Manhattan Avenue but my friend didn't feel like walking and pointed out that pizza was down the block as well so there we were at Franklin Pizza. Now I've passed this place before but have never gone in despite always walking right by to go to the Brooklyn Expo Center. My visit was a quick one and I ordered a single plain slice and a can of Sprite and since we assumed the show was opening the doors at any moment, my friend and I ate quickly so we could get on the line to enter the nearby club. That was a mistake since I could have even had another 2 slices based on how long they made us wait. That being said I did enjoy the pizza and might for sure find myself down here eating again the next time I need to go to the Expo Center. I don't think I will be back to the place until next Spring but its marked off as a side step to the planned adventure. The slice was a nicely sized one and I always like that. Nice work guys.

Dive neighborhood pizza joint. A little disheveled nut gives a bit of character. Talk to the pie maker and he can make what you want.

Best Buffalo chicken slice I've ever had. So good!!! Also great chicken rolls. They definitley cook their chicken well. The sauce is so good too and the crust is the perfect thickness. Small spot so I've always taken out. Good service

Franklin Pizza is a quick and easy pizza spot that, thankfully, does not tend to have a long line. I love their eggplant parmesan pizza and recommend it to everyone. Slices come out hot and fresh and staff is extremely friendly. Not much I can ask for at a pizza spot.

More pricey than I thought it would be, but Franklin makes a tasty sausage slice. They have wi-fi and some not-so-clean clean tables. So I guess they want you to hang around for a bit. But not for the television. It's ten feet off the ground, so it's obvious it's for the entertainment of the guy stuck behind the counter all day. The pizza has a good crust and good quality toppings. I just wish it was served hotter. I was in no rush. I was in the middle of the 6 hour process of waiting to have my book signed at WORD just up the block. I hope someone got Allie Brosh a whole pie. She was a trooper. I was just glad Franklin Pizza was open because there isn't much else besides a few bars and a bodega within easy walking distance in the area.

Fresh Mozzarella Pizza

My girlfriend got a slice and we left. Four blocks later, after taking a bite of her Marguerite slice, I realized the folly of my ways and busted a quick 180 to get myself one. The fresh mozzarella makes this pizzeria the move. Trust me -- as a NY native, I'm a pizza expert.

Yummy throw up flavored floor.

Pretty good for a random slice joint in Greenpoint. And it's at least as good Paulie Gee's Slice Shop.

The basil in particular was fantastic, and you can really taste the quality of the fresh mozzarella and Parmesan rather than having them disappear into the slice. I tried a square/Sicilian slice with burrata and loved it. It's a little thinner than the Sicilian slices I'm used to, but that actually worked beautifully. The crust still had enough structure and chew, and the burrata added richness without overwhelming everything else. I also had a regular slice with sausage and mushrooms, and the balance was basically perfect. Exactly the right cheese-to-sauce ratio, toppings that tasted fresh instead of piled on for the sake of it, and just the right amount of char. And the crust might have been my favorite part. Crisp and beautifully cooked on the outside, with enough chew and flavor that I actually wanted to keep eating it after the rest of the slice was gone. Honestly, I'm struggling to come up with a criticism. Great ingredients, great balance, great bake. Di Fara absolutely lived up to the reputation for me.

I was greeted by an angel called Lisa, who was very much giving fairy Godmother of Luigi's pizza. I stumble through my order. I'm confused. I'm asking questions. The whole time Lisa is patient. She's sweet. She's funny. Makes me feel right at home. I asked for one slice of Knicks pizza but I wanted pepperoni on there. They said it didn't come with pepperoni, but the owner was sitting there like "you know what since you asked for it we'll do it for you." It's like I was in heaven and was told Ask and you shall receive, we just want you to be happy! Now, I don't know what sort of crack cocaine they put in this Knicks pizza but it had vodka sauce and ricotta, hot honey olive oil and I think a pesto drizzle. Oh my Jesus Christ this was the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life. Savory, a lil sweet, saucy. Lisa was right, don't need ranch for this at all. Also loved the white pie. I'm so sad because I had to leave New York the next day but days later I am still thinking about this pizza. I am still thinking about sweet Lisa and just how warm and welcomed I was in the few minutes I spent in this restaurant. I'm still thinking about how delicious this slice was!!! I cannot recommend enough, 10 out of 10 you won't regret it. Tell Lisa the girl who asked for ranch and she responded "that's sacrilegious"sent you. I told Lisa I'd leave a good review and she said "we don't care about no reviews we care about getting you fed". Enough said!

I went in with extremely high expectations after seeing Barstool give it a 9.3, which is an incredibly high score. In my opinion, Dave Portnoy has a particular style of pizza that he prefers, and that definitely influences his ratings. Personally, I would not rate this pizza anywhere near a 9.3, especially considering how many great pizza options there are in Brooklyn. That being said, it is still a good slice and worth trying. I just don't think it quite lives up to the hype or the exceptionally high rating it has received.

We ordered a glass of wine, a beer, an arugula salad, and our main food order. Everything started out fine, and the salad came without a problem. But then we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after we had ordered, I asked our waiter where our food was. He apologized and admitted that he had forgotten to put the order in. By that point, we had already watched other tables receive their food, including people who had arrived well after us. We continued waiting, and after roughly 40 minutes or more, our food still had not arrived. At that point, the dining experience was already ruined and we decided to leave. Ironically, just as we were getting ready to go, the food finally started coming out. I told them we no longer wanted it. The waiter did apologize again and offered us a pizza to take with us, which I assume was complimentary, but by then we were simply ready to leave. Even paying the bill became unnecessarily drawn out. We were charged the full amount for the salad, beer, and wine. I sat with a $50 bill ready to pay, was handed the check, and then ended up standing around for another five minutes waiting for someone to actually take the money. There was no apology from the person handling the payment. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciated that our waiter admitted he had forgotten to place the order. But when a restaurant makes that kind of mistake, the recovery matters. After waiting that long, watching later-arriving customers get served, and then having difficulty simply paying and leaving, an apology and a pizza at the very end didn't really fix the experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I can't say the service lived up to the restaurant's reputation.

What impresses me most is how naturally Roberta's became more than a restaurant. Food, music, parties, outdoor spaces, and an extraordinary mix of people all seemed to converge here, giving the place a cultural gravity that could never have been designed by committee. It remains one of those places that instantly takes me back to my bachelor years and an especially fun chapter of my time in the city, when Bushwick felt endlessly creative, and Roberta's seemed to sit comfortably at its center. This is the first restaurant we've been to with 20% auto gratuity for a party under 6. But the borderline dishonest part is that the check that you sign tells you in tiny letters that tip was already added, but has huge font for additional tip and written out tip calculations, so it is very easy to tip 40% without noticing. Sometimes I do tip extra generously, but I don't want to feel like I was tricked into doing it!
