I love this place! It's within walking distance of where I live so the location is nice. But let's talk about the restaurant itself. The inside is cozy and charming, and the staff make it such a welcoming place. The food is... AMAZING. I've had quite a few things now, but I'd have to recommend the queso. Personally, I like to add brisket because I'm from Texas and what's better than brisket queso? The prices are totally fair for the amount of delicious food you get and the drinks are also good. Love this location. We live closer to the one in Sachse but were in the area and decided to stop by on a last Friday night. They have such wonderful staff, very friendly and attentive. The food is fantastic. Hubby had quesadillas and I had brisket tacos. There's live music on Fridays. And the couple who sing are so good and so much fun! We had a blast! i have been coming here and to the sister restaurant Amigos in Richardson and let me tell you I was there yesterday with my family. I was so embarrassed that I took them there! The customer service was horrible I never had this experience before here or at Amigos. The Horchata was super sweet white colored water! Was not the authentic Horchata I remember from here. The food was !! I ordered the enchiladas with Mole sauce and let me tell you that Mole sauce was so dry and sour that it was inedible! The rice was mushy not like the signature rice I've had there before seems like it was made in a rush normally there are veggies in this rice but this time nothing. My wife ordered the sopes let me tell you these sopes use to be made of shredded beef and shredded chicken now it seems it's made with frozen chicken and beef fajita they were not what they were before. That same froze. Chicken was used on the chicken taco plate with included tortillas heated in the microwave. The black beans where sooo salty my kids didn't even finish them. And get this the prices went up!! i know that if you increase the price of food it's do to increase in your over head or increase your food quality. But how is it possible that the price of your food goes up and the quality goes down!! You guys have this backwards!!! When I brought this up to the waitress she just said we have not changed our recipes. please I'm a chef and WAS a regular so yeah I know the difference but oh well frankie's a long time customer which includes all my friends and family and believe me it's a lot I know a lot of club promoters and we usually have dinner at some place before we go out and we also recommend places to our customers. Yelp didn't disappoint. I was looking for a place for me and my fellow church members to have brunch after service. Finding good eatery places near the industrial side of Garland can be challenging but I chose this restaurant based upon previous Yelp reviews. The establishment was clean, the staff was super friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. We all ordered from the brunch menu and everyone was pleased with their dish. I love the food here, but last night I got a hair in my salsa. I was with out-of-town family so I didn't make a big deal about it at the time but I couldn't eat any more chips and salsa cause it grossed me out. Also we usually got some kind of tostada for free as an appetizer but we didn't get any this time not sure if they quit doing that or not-- if they did discontinue doing this I will raise my score. Normally I consider this a 4-5-star place though so I'm gonna give it one more try and if they redeem themselves I will raise my star review. Margaritas are very good but expensive I loved the chimichanga and in the past I've gotten the shrimp Diablo which is amazing. This location used to be an old Dairy Queen back in the day. My brother took me and my cousin here, and I was definitely skeptical. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. Food - 4/5 1. Avocado enchiladas - These weren't the best enchiladas I've had, but they were definitely above average. It was filled with plenty tender, shredded chicken. The beans and rice were standard, but a little oily. 2. Salsa - This was the free salsa that comes with chips, and it was phenomenal. I absolutely loved this salsa. I can't eat spicy food, so I was glad it wasn't spicy. A little salty though. 3. Tula chicken - I normally don't even like chicken cutlets, but these were cooked well. I couldn't eat the entire dish, but I did like the few bites I tried. It came with very delicious scalloped potatoes. Overall, I loved the homecoming vibe from this place. My family has been coming to Frankie's since it opened and have never had a bad experience. That is, until yesterday. My husband, son and I went for dinner. Son ordered the Frankie's burger, which he said was good. My husband and I ordered the Fajitas for 2. Usually, when you order fajitas for 2 people, you get 2 separate plates of beans/rice/sour cream/guacamole. We only got one. I asked for another plate and was told it only comes with one. I said I would still like another one since they only give you a tiny scoop of sour cream and guacamole (again, for 2 people to share). The fajitas were meh. They cut the steak and chicken too thick and only had 3 pieces of each meat on the plate. It was mostly onion with some bell peppers thrown in. The meat wasn't seasoned well and the guacamole was very bland. When the check came, we were charged $8 for the plate of beans/rice. That is way too much to charge for something they make huge portions of and probably doesn't cost them more than $2 or $3 at the most. Like I said, I normally have a good experience at Frankie's, but they need to change the way they serve their fajitas. read more

This is a nice family run business.! I ordered the Shrimp Diablo and my wife ordered Priscilla's pasta. Both dishes were super delicious and the presentation gave a hint that there is a chef working in the kitchen and not just a cook. For our drinks I had a Dos Equis on tap with a lime wedge which was not flat it was just right and my wife ordered a margarita which she said was off the chain. After giving me a little sip test I definitely agreed. She said they had her at margarita! Oh and one more thing the music playing on the speaker system was great! Possibly one of the best dining experiences we've had in years. Our server, Pinky, was an absolute pleasure! He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered several suggestions all of which were amazing! We started with sangria margaritas which to our surprise were only $5! Then we tried the ceviche appetizer which also comes with a few stuffed jalapeños. We cleaned the plate! For entrees he had the Frankie's Skillet (on the brunch menu) and I couldn't decide between two so he said "leave it to me" and came up with an amazing blend of the two! This is an updated review for our go-to spot for Tex Mex, mainly because it's close to home and the food and service are always good. They have an all day Sunday happy hour. I like the way the bar is set up with the high top tables and set apart from rest of the space. It's hard to believe this place used to be a Dairy Queen. The food is always consistent and the service excellent. If you like your tex mex with queso blanco this is the place. No yellow cheese sauce here! You won't find many tex mex combo dishes here, but they do have one big one and it's very satisfying, especially if you want to take home leftovers. It's a pretty large varied menu with lots of choices. I usually get the tacos and split them between crunchy shell and a soft taco. What can I say, I love biting into a crunchy shell and tasting that picadillo with lettuce and tomato. The fajita tacos are good also, as is the Salmon taco. The Pollo en Mole is muy bueno. They do a really good job with the different sauces. The only negative I can find with the food is the chimichanga. Chimichanga's used to have meat and cheese. This one had way too much rice in it. We have been to the Richardson location of Frankie's several times, and took a chance one evening to try the second location which is closer to home. It's small but not crowded, the music was bad (but in a good way) 80's music and our wait staff was great. Pinky instantly reminded me of Paco who owns our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Oak Park, Ill (New Rebozo - go. For real.) and he took really good care of us. We've since been back 3 or 4 times and tried different dishes and taken other people and it's never disappointed. Margaritas are excellent, salsa is just right and though I'm gluten intolerant, I haven't been "glutened" yet. I'll reserve judgment on the patio (right on Plano Road) until it's warm enough to try it. But so far, it's a winner. read more
