We came here last night after meeting in Richardson for Small Group. I stumbled upon The Line while searching for nearby places to try. The Line is located next to Amigos Mexican Restaurant on Belt Line just past Greenville. My husband and I drove separately, so I stepped inside to wait for him. Everyone that worked there came up and greeted me and asked if I had been helped. Once my husband arrived, one of the owners warmly greeted us and introduced himself to us by shaking our hands. He led us to one of their tables and gave us a run down of what was offered. He mentioned that he had a background at Campsi's and that the pizzas shared the similar thin crust. He mentioned that the burgers were all made by hand and the French fries were all hand cut as well. We were impressed with how friendly everyone was and how the owner went out of his way to make sure we felt welcomed. Our server was the same way. She was attentive without being annoying. I would give customer service and A+. My hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger, medium rare, with French fries and I ordered the chicken tenders with regular fries as well. You can add sweet potato fries for $1 more -- which is a steal actually. The food was typical bar food, but untypical in that it was all fresh and homemade. You could taste that the burgers and the chicken was not frozen. The fries were great and had a hint of garlic seasoning. They almost reminded me of a Wing Stop French fry. Our food came out within ten to fifteen minutes. Super quick. We devoured our meal. The chicken tenders were a tad greasy and the breading was having a hard time sticking to the chicken, but I really enjoyed the seasoning and ate the whole thing. There was also karaoke that was going on. It was loud but fun. I could see me coming back, having a few drinks, hanging out with friends. The whole kicker of the night, besides the stellar customer service, was the tab. $19 for two meals. WHAT?! Come here and check this place out. So we're in the area and hubby is craving a burger, whereas my daughter wants pizza, and I just want a salad. So we search "burgers" on yelp and this restaurant showed favorable reviews. We're parents and toting around our child and infant, we had our reservations about taking our family to have dinner at a "sports bar". Fortunately, when we arrived, it was early enough to beat the adult crowd (they started trickling in as we were leaving). I ordered the Chopped salad w salami, black olives, shredded provolone, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes. It was surprisingly better than I had anticipated. We also ordered their appetizer sampler platter. My 4 y.o. promptly devoured the fried mozzarella cheese sticks, while my husband tackled the potato wedges (cus they were topped w cheese and BACON!). The onion rings were sweet and crispy and their fried pickles were decent (I still love Pluckers'). I ordered a small pizza; half pepperoni for my daughter and half "over under" (sausage, salami, mushrooms, green bell peppers, caramelized onions). I was very pleasantly surprised that their pizza was gourmet thin crust and very tasty! I didn't really expect pizza to be this good coming from a bar. Then my hubby received his black angus cheeseburger. It was a hearty, fresh beef patty, cooked to medium well. It was perfectly prepared - thoroughly cooked, but not overdone, so the patty was still pretty juicy. The burger got my hubby's seal of approval, so I stole the last few bites, and yes, I had to agree, the burger was quite good! The accompanying French fries were hand cut (we finished every last one!). For dessert, we split their "Ooey Gooey". It reminded us of a Pazookie. It arrived baked and served in a skillet. We had to eat fast cus the cookie was so hot, the vanilla ice cream was melting quickly! The center was soft and the edges were crisp. Yummy gooey ness! Our waitress, Tabitha, was very sweet and accommodating. She checked on us often and was quite personable. My 4 y.o. took to her and she complimented our baby (extra brownie points!). There was a very tall gentleman (manager or owner perhaps?) that stopped to check on us and inquire how our food and service was. As we were leaving, another gentleman came in to set up some equipment. Karaoke Night! Overall, for a bar, the food was quite good and service was friendly! The Friday night karaoke host is extremely rude and condescending. She takes frequent long breaks and plays random music instead of letting people sing. Came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for some good pizza. I was satisfied, but was not impressed however. The server handed me a menu saying that there were a few specials for the day, so I had decided to try out these specials. I was a little disappointed when it took a while for my food to come out, and received pizza that was still a little raw (the dough was so flaky). Sure, the cheese, pepperoni, and green peppers added a good mix, but the overall flakeness of the pie threw me off a lot. We walk in and one guy is watching the baseball game on the bar TV and two other guys are halfway trying to watch the Euro Cup game on a TV in the corner. No one is watching the huge projector TV. I asked if we could watch the soccer game on the big TV. The lady behind the bar looks at us then says no, the other guy is watching the baseball game. It felt like I'd offended her for even asking. So we turned around and walked out. Too bad the service is so hit and miss. I really thought I'd found my new favorite bar. Clearly not all the staff is on the same page. This place is awesome. How it got two dollar signs is beyond me. I am sitting here and my tab is at $5.50 and I have almost drank a whole bottle of wine, no joke. And not cheap wine. I've been here 3x now. The first time around, I wasn't really impressed. We sat, ordered drinks, listened to people doing karaoke and that's about it. The second time was an upgrade. Bar tender were attentive and I had my very first Four Bullets' Red Ale and it was really good. As far as I know this is the only bar serving it as the brewery is new and they are only open on Saturday afternoons for now. The crowd this time is more lively. We came back for the third time to have another satisfy our cravings of Four Bullets' Red Ale beer, unfortunate they were out. I used to love going to this place. They have karaoke on Friday nights, they have pretty good food for a bar, and the drinks are fairly inexpensive. The service has always been horrible though, and tonight it was worse than ever. The problem starts when you arrive. The surly bartender has always been quite rude, which we've always joked about, but after a long week of work, I'd really like to be treated nicely. And although we often have a fairly decent waitress, she didn't show up today until around 8 PM. Seriously the service was horrid. Bad service is nothing new here. But the bar always redeemed itself with great friends and great conversation, and fun activities. But I'm afraid this is my last trip, I will not be back. This is an excellent place to spend happy hour and the food is amazing! Fantastic prices and the staff is extremely friendly and love the atmosphere! I recommend this place to all my friends that come to Dallas from out of town.
