There is only 1 restaurant in Elmhurst we go back to. Just 1. McDonald's! Just kidding. It's Francesca's. The management works hard to make sure all guests are having a great dining experience, not just a quick order and throw a plate down and collect your tip. The food is great and Edwin who is a manager there will make sure everything is right. You can be vegetarian, or have a particular taste for a certain wine, and the staff always offers ideas and options. You can't go wrong here, and that is why we'll eat here any time we come into Elmhurst. read more

Food was great, the fried calamari & mussels with garlic sauce appetizers...I had the melt in your mouth pork shank osso bucco with delicious polenta. My niece had the cod. My brother had the shrimp linguini. They were all delicious. The cake dessert with ricotta sauce, pear slices was to die for! Not too sweet like typical American desserts. To top it off, service was exceptional. Those servers work hard to please! There is convenient parking on a lot across the street. There is also the big parking garage by N Addison Rd very nearby the restaurant. Not sure if the people posting 4 Star reviews dined at the same restaurant I visited or if they lost their taste buds to COVID...another question that came to mind was how is this place even still in business after paying downtown Elmhurst storefront monthly lease rates. Menu was straight out of the 80's, not really much of a selection, only two items on the menu didn't have mushrooms. Average price of an entree was greater than $26, way overpriced in my opinion. Dark ambience throughout, interior could use a makeover. Lots of missed opportunities to refill drinks/additional cocktails due to poor service. Sorry If I'm rambling on, can't really give any positive remarks. Should have continued driving by and gotten the pasta to go from the gas station on north York Road or a Stouffer's TV dinner from Jewel. Ciao and never again! read more

After stumbling upon this Italian spot while not knowing where to go in the west suburbs, I would have to say I'm pretty impressed! Hot tip: go Sunday nights for half price bottle of wines! We got a few bottles that ended up being around 25-40 each that we're very good. The pasta I got was perfectly al dente with a cream sauce that wasn't too heavy, which I loved. The prosciutto added a ton of flavor! The salad and appetizers were also very fresh and flavorful. Our waitress and the whole wait staff were friendly and attentive. Only point against them would be that some of their portions seemed overpriced- arugula with lemon juice and EVOO for $9 or one ball of burrata with tomatoes for $14. Don't live anywhere nearby but if I did, I would probably make a Sunday night return visit. read more

Let me start with we have been coming here since this location opened. Love seeing employees that have been here for many years. Enrique and Andy are the best! But I'm not really sure where the menu is going...the wine prices are off to competitive restaurants. $21 for a glass of wine!! I had a major issue with Uber Eats tonight. My food was ready but never picked up by a driver. I usually like to pick up myself but was unfortunately unable to do so tonight. I spoke to Kelsi at Francesca's who went above and beyond and contacted Uber Eats support directly and called me back with updates. She worked her magic and got a driver out to pick up my food. She even made sure the food was refired before sending it out the door. I wish more restaurants had such care and consideration for customers. Wonderful Sunday dinner for my mom's birthday! We started with the amazing lentils! Not to be missed this is a meal on its own. All of the employees are phenomenal from the bus boys to the servers and bar tenders and the managers keep the restaurant running smoothly. But I noticed there were multiple diners inside despite the no indoor dining mandate by the State. I look for places that serve Italian food like I remember while growing up in my Italian household. Francesca's Amici is a restaurant that delivers authentic food and great service. Francesca's Amici is located in the downtown area of Elmhurst. The area is always super busy with diners looking for a place to have a great meal. There are so many restaurant choices to eat in that area. Francesca's Amici is packed all of the time, which must mean that they are doing something right. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The restaurant is not too big and makes you feel like you are eating in an old-school Italian restaurant off of Taylor Street in Little Italy. I love so many of their dishes here, but my all-time favorite is their chicken parmigiana. The flavors that come through with their red sauce perfectly cook the chicken. It is never dry and always juicy. Also, the piece of chicken they give you is enormous. The beauty of Francesca's Amici is that they will make you anything at your request. I have come in many times and asked for a dish, not on the menu, and they fully accommodated me. There are many Francesca's restaurants throughout Illinois, but this one is definitely my all-time favorite location. My only con of this restaurant is that there is only street parking and it can be annoying trying to find parking. I really like this place and can not recommend it enough. We chose this place for a meeting with an estranged family member we were reconnecting with. It didn't disappoint. My husband had the octopus salad, I had the spaghetti, and the family member had the roasted chicken. We started with bruschetta which is always a fan favorite and helped to break the ice. While it wasn't comfortable at first, the atmosphere helped and the wine didn't hurt. I had the house Malbec and my husband had the Chardonnay. Both were good, and we would eat there again if we needed a place to help take the pressure off of awkward discussion. Word to the wise though it's a bit pricey, and honestly Olive Garden probably could have done the trick. read more

Omg!!! This place is so delicious!!! I wouldn't have really thought it would have been so good. We got warm bread with olive oil and cheese. The appetizers were amazing and the food was amazing. There were four of us and we all got something different and nothing disappointed. We all stuffed our faves with bread and apps that we couldn't finish our meals but that's ok cause we got to take it home. And our server was great and on top of things. I had a colleague visiting from out of town that was staying in the area so I decided we would try Francesca's Amici as it was nearby. I have always been a fan of the Francesca's restaurants but I have mostly been to the Northbrook location, which is consistently great. This restaurant location is in the cutest little downtown area in Elmhurst, and it was like dining in someone's home. It was quiet inside and easy to have a conversation. We were nicely greeted by the manager and were seated right away(we did have open table reservations). We enjoyed a great meal with great and attentive service. They were very accommodating and gave a gluten free menu to my friend. We both had the insalate de rucola which was excellent. I decided to do something I've never done at Francesca's and I got fish instead of pasta or pizza. We both ordered the Salmone allá fresca, which was grilled salmon sitting on grilled asparagus, topped with avocado, tomato, lemon juice, red onion, basil and olive oil. It was delicious. I like the Francesca's line up of restaurants. This one, however, fell a little short of my expectations. Francesca's Amici is located in downtown Elmhurst and is a good spot to drop in for lunch or dinner. They have recently expanded when the bread shop went out of business so the space is large but seems a little under decorated (it looks like they just added on without much thought) There is a bar area in the front with high top tables along the windows which looked inviting- however we were there to eat so we took a seat in the back. The menu is similar to all the other Francesca's restaurants with an array of appetizers, salads, pastas and entrees. We chose the prosciutto special of the day that came with artichokes and was surprisingly drenched in olive oil. In my opinion- it would have been better without all that oil it was sitting in. My fish was good (whitefish with a variety of vegetables) but my friend had the gnochhi with bolognese sauce which he said was "really salty". Too bad because it looked really good. Prices were reasonable and there is plenty of free street parking in the area. For my money- if I am going to go to a Francesca's in the "burbs", I'd probably choose Francesca's Bellezza in La Grange as it just pulls everything off at a higher level! read more

This was my first time dinning at this Francesca's other than carrying out from here. I can see me coming back for more. The food was pretty good. The waiters were attentive and friendly. The dinner room has a kind of cozy comfortable atmosphere. We were seated in a party room in the back as we have a big group today at lunch. I kind of like that they gave you a menu with 70% hand written items. Feeling like we are served with the fresh different stuff every day if we could come. I guess it is a weekly menu? I went for Risotto con fagnioli which was rice with green beans, pine nuts and tomato pesto. Didn't look like they have the veal today which is my favorite. All dishes were served very quickly like in 20 minutes after we ordered. My Risotto was very rich and full of flavors. I liked the baby green beans in the rice which was kind of fresh up the tomato pesto taste. The portion was very large for me. I felt like I needed a salad to balance of the heaviness of the meal. I also tried a bit of my friend's Rigatoni Primavera which has the similar taste as my dish as it also has the tomato basil sauce. The noodle was chewy, flavorful, a bit heavy too. It's been many years since we visited this restaurant. I guess the last time we weren't that impressed with the food, or we thought it was too expensive. In either case, I'm so glad we went last Saturday because the dinner was fantastic! I ordered the bow tie pasta with salmon in a vodka sauce. Just thinking about it makes me salivate. The menu is not extensive and we were concerned that our guests wouldn't be able to find something they liked. As it turns out, everyone in the group had a great meal. Finally a restaurant has figured out that having a few great options is more important than a plethora of mediocre ones. Bravo Francesca Amici's. Of all the different Francesca's I've been to, this one was the only one that impressed. From good service, to spacious layout, and of course, the freshness of the food! Their bread comes out warm and the bruschetta was so fresh and delicious that i could have eaten just a whole plate of it as my entree! Being vegetarian, the lunch menu didn't have an item for me but the kitchen prepared a rigatoni pasta with seasonal veggies that was good. I visited for lunch recently and I have to say that I'm glad we had a reservation because this spot was packed! I'm not sure if it was because of the holidays, but definitely don't go here expecting to be seated immediately at noon (or 1pm). I had a pizza which was delicious..it was perfectly doughy and also loaded with goodness (cheese, prosciutto). I also got to try the meatball sandwich, which was definitely a piece of excellence... Service was friendly and accommodating. Food took a little while to come out (I'm guessing due to the busy time we were there), but our server kept our bread and water filled, so we were happy. My boss's last day luncheon was held here, and I have to admit that he picked a pretty good spot. Not cheap, mind you, but good. The bread was warm and paired up well with oil + cheese + salt & pepper, all complementary. We shared an order of the prosciutto with figs as an appetizer--it was awesome, no surprise there. What did surprise me was their minestrone; a cup was $5 (a lot, I thought, given the size of the cup) and it was mostly vegetables. And not even the good kind of veggies, either, but zucchini and spinach? Blecch. I got what amounts to chicken saltimbocca--a sauteed chicken breast topped with prosciutto and melted mozzarella served on a bed of pasta. It tasted great and was reasonably priced at $15. My coworkers got the seafood pasta and chicken parm, and they decreed them good as well. Francesca's had a wine list that was both extensive and expensive--I saw a bottle of '05 Napa Valley Cab Sauv going for $165. Yowza. I was generally unimpressed with the meal (and the service) until dessert arrived. I opted for the lavender-accented panna cotta, and oh.my.god. did I make the right choice. It was custard-smooth, like it ought to be, and the mold retained its shape well. The flavor and texture were spot-on. I've had some good panna cottas in the past, and I've had some bad ones. Francesca's has one of the best. Sure, it was $8 for a 1-person dessert, but most definitely worth it. The lavender was mixed in brilliantly. Take note that everything comes a-la-carte, so if you want soup or salad, you'll have to order it separately, and it'll cost ya. Thankfully I didn't pick up the tab, because my meal alone likely ran $35 without drinks.
