Sals is great. Every time I go in there the employees always ask if they can help. Not only that, but they have a huge selection of spirits, wine, and beer. Two weeks ago, I went in there and asked for the Hulk Hogan beer and they even had that. I feel that his prices are always reasonable and they always have plenty of stock. If you watch his advertisements on Facebook or TikTok he even has celebrity guests come into the store and do autograph signings of their signature drinks. It really is a great local place to go and get all of your beverage needs instead of going to the big box stores. Sales has three locations: Villa Park, Elmhurst, and Addison. I've lived in the area for more than 10 years now. I may have actually physically gone there once. Not due to any circumstances on their end, just was on a local microbrewery binge the last five years, so just in general my liquor purchases from box stores has been limited. Now bring in 2020, and going anywhere to get beer has fizzled out. However, I was reintroduced to Sal's via Drizly and I could not have been more pleased with the service I have received. The deliveries have always been timely. Also, I always receive a call if I happen to order something that may not have been in stock. Now, it looks like I can directly order from their own website, so one less obstacle to deal with. Looking forward to the delivery of their WhistlePig online preorder. SAL'S IS AWESOME! not only because they carry bottles that make me feel good, but the staff here will not judge you for it ;) In fact, they will go the 'extra mile' to help you find what ever it is you are looking for. I can't tell you how many times I've been here and am always approached with 'Can I help you find something?'. The management & employees I've encountered have A L W A Y S been more than helpful and friendly. On a few occasions I could not find a wine I was looking for & noticed an asst. manager nearby - I asked him for comparable recommendations, & after some Q&A's I went with a few of his choices, and he was spot on....these guys KNOW their wines - beers - all of it. The icing on the cake? FANTASTIC SALES! Their monthly specials sometimes last for months on end! You can also join their 'wine club' for a fee & get more great deals...The store is well organized with signage (wine, by region) to help your search. Sal's is conveniently located on Lake St. in Addison. Liquor stores are usually all alike, but Sal's is different. They carry an above average variety of wine, beer, and liquor. If you are shopping on a budget, then this the place for you, because you can really stretch you dollar here. Look for their monthly specials. It happens quite often that we snag bargains on top shelf product. I joined their Bacchus wine club. The savings paid for the membership fee after about 4 months. Ask about it, if you drink a bottle of wine a week like we do, it'll be worth it to join. Plus, I like to give whiskey and tequila as gifts, so the savings on those items comes in big. Lastly, great staff at Sal's. If you need help finding anything, just ask. If you want to try something new and your not sure which brand to get, again, just ask. This innocent looking store in a non descript strip mall in the Western burbs packed some really pleasant surprises for this wine loving city girl. Not only is this one of the cleanest liquor stores I've ever been in (and trust me, I've done some research) it is also very well organized and for lack of a better word, nicely curated. Like any hit or miss shop, there are the usual suspects but where this store shines is in its awesome craft beer selection (I lost count at 75) amazing European, New World and domestic wine offerings and vast array of spirits. I have struggled on many occasions to find just one apertivo, here, there were a dozen of the best this side of "The Boot". Love the bubbles? Yeah, I thought so. With at least 100 variations from cava, champagne, Cali sparklers, frizzante and prosecco in every shape and form the only thing that surprised me was the size. And yes, size does matter. Magnums are for amateurs if you know what I mean. And Sal's carries the big boys. That's right my favorite five guys full of fizzy: Jeroboam (a.k.a. Double Magnum) 3.0 Methuselah 6.0 Salmanazar 9.0 Balthazar 12.0 Nebuchadnezzar 15.0 of course not all brands are available in all sizes but the fact that they have the boys in stock is noteworthy. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and wine consultants know their grapes and will help you find the perfect bottle for any budget. They have a wine club that offers additional savings and special events throughout the year and really competitive pricing to begin with. read more

I'm a big fan of Sal's. I used to solely shop at Binny's. Now, I almost exclusively shop at Sal's for beer and wine. I'll admit that they don't have quite the selection that Binny's has but wine prices are definitely lower if you are a wine club member. Membership is cheap, maybe $20 or $25 a year, but you make that back in the first couple of cases of vino. Sal's has a solid beer selection and I appreciate the great sale prices on German imports. Be sure to ask for Dale if you need wine advice. I asked him for advice on reasonably priced ($10 - $13) Pinot Noirs and he was very helpful. I ended buying 4 bottles of PN that I would never have bought on my own. (I've tried two so far and one of them is on my "buy again" list.) Sal's ain't pretty but I like their selection and prices. read more

I don't really drink liquor, and I don't get my wine from here. This review is exclusively for their Beer selection. Sal's has been a pretty successful business model, as they seem to be cropping up more and more around the suburbs since going independent. While I never like the idea of them putting smaller shops out of business, it's easy to see why: They've got good selection for all drinks, and are rarely out of stock. I really like their beer selection. Even if they don't have what I'm looking for, they'll definitely have something I like. They've got junk like Bud Light and other generics, but there's one side of an entire aisle dedicated to american microbrews. I'll sometimes dabble with Canadien or European Beers, but I usually stick with the US of A. I won't start listing the breweries they have, because it would take too long. As I said, just trust that they have a good selection and know that if they don't have specifically what you're looking for, they'll definitely have something you like. Unfortunately, the staff rarely seem to care much about the products they offer and have very little in the way of advice or knowledge. Make sure you find the beer manager if you need to ask questions. Also, if you have a specific beer in mind that you'd like, he's the guy to talk to because if they already purchase from that brewer, they can order your beer, no problem. Just make sure you know how to sweet-talk. If your passion for beer comes through, they're usually down to help you out. read more

Perfect for when Binny's is just too darn far away. I'm a little picky about my alcohol. Sure, Bacardi or Smirnoff is fine if someone's having a big party, and nobody cares what the spirits taste like. But when it's for enjoying at home, it's gotta be of a higher caliber. Sal's has a pretty huge selection. It's basically a warehouse of alcohol. Not any atmosphere to speak of, just aisles upon aisles of bottles, all well organized to help you find what you need. Including a nearly-Binny's-sized selection of craft beer and hard cider. From what I could tell, prices were about average -- really good on wine, a little higher on hard liquor, but I'm sure it depends. they seem to have regular sales. If you need something fancier than the Polish grain alcohol they have at Caputo's, but don't feel like driving to the nearest Binny's, Sal's should meet your needs. read more

Sal's was very kind to me. When I travel to a new state, I try to find my husband a local beer that we can't get in our home state. So I went to Sal's & asked an employee for some help. He initially showed me 3 maybe 4 beers that I knew my husband had tried, but he was persistent and got me to one that I knew we didn't get in Ohio & that my husband had not tried. I was very thankful for the help, I would have been lost for hours looking for a quality craft beer. They also appeared to have a large wine and liquor selection, though I did not browse that area of the store. read more

I enjoy alcohol. Who doesn't you say? Well, I assume plenty of people do, but I enjoy it. I don't drink to get drunk, I don't drink because it's expected of me, I drink because I enjoy what I'm drinking. So when I look for a liquor store, I don't just want stuff like Bud or Bacardi or Smirnoff. I want the good stuff. Sal's has tons (certainly literally) of the good stuff. Sure, there are your 7 foot tall stacks of 24-packs of he cheap stuff, but then there are aisle up isles of craft beers, wines from all over the world, lots of great stuff. And it's all really well organized, making it really simple to find what you need. This place isn't as "nice" as Binny's. It's pretty much a warehouse on the inside and you won't be finding any wine experts to help you pick out the right bottle for you, and the selection isn't quite as massive, but it's got most of what you need at good prices. Plus, for us at least, it's closer to home since the nearest Binny's is Glen Ellyn, so it's certain the best place for us within a 10 minute drive. As for prices, they seemed to be pretty average on beer, surprisingly cheap on wine (5.99 for a 1.5 L of Barefoot... sure Barefoot is the cheap stuff, but that price is usually what the 750 mLs go for), and a little bit pricey on the hard liquor. I especially noticed the rum was more than you'll usually see elsewhere. Overall though, I was pleased. We picked up a 12 pack of Leinie's Summer Shady, nothing super fancy, but it will be a nice summer treat. If that's what you're looking for, Sal's is a good place to look. read more

I dont know why its taken me so long to write a review of this place because iv been going there forever. The people that work there actually know their inventory and dont run around the store like a chicken with their head cut off. The best part about this place is their beer selection. Last year they had maybe 10 different microbrew beers available now they have almost three isles and on top of that instead of guessing the flavors and letting you know how much hops is in it THEY ACTUALLY KNOW!!! The manager actually tries different beer each week just to keep the customers updated. Overall a great place for many types of booze and great service. read more

Hard liquor, mixers, wine, beer.. lots and lots of craft beer. Not as large of a selection as other warehouse liquor stores, but there isn't a need because they have a good balance of everything. Sal's Beverage World is pretty great. I know they may lack the luster and huge craft beer selection of Binny's, but they definitely have the same amount of knowledge and service. I stopped in to stock up on some bombers and ended up leaving with a sweet homebrewing conversation (complete with hydrometer tips...thanks, Dale!! [For a "wine consultant", he sure seemed to know A LOT about craft beer and homebrewing]) and two new beers that will surely live up to their hoppy names. I have shopped here for the past 14 years and have appreciated each experience. Unfortunately, this past Friday I had a poor experience with one of its male employees that irked me so much I left and went to Binny's - and was so pleased with Binny's helpfulness, prices and extremely wide selection of everything - that frankly, I may not return to Sal's and will run to CVS (which I pass to get to Sal's) to get the odd bottle or case of beverages. For the very first time, I truly looked at Sal's and saw that unless you want the staple products or a bottle of wine... This is not the liquor store for you. I went in with a shopping list of things to get including Patron Cafe. I looked on the shelves with the other Patron products (pineapple, chocolate) and there wasn't even a blank space or tag that indicated they carried the Cafe ... But I know I've bought it there before. I looked down the aisles endlessly for their other tequila products - not a sign to be had directing you to any tequila shelves... And so I went in search of someone to help me... No one was on the floor except representatives from alcohol companies. I went to the front and asked two very very nice cashiers if they carried it or where it could be. They paged a gentleman who came out from somewhere by the soft drink area... And I asked where it is. He couldn't even stop for 20 seconds to speak to me, as he was walking he said they don't have it. What does that mean? You don't carry it anymore, you're out of it even though there's no tag on the shelf, why should I have to stop you and ask you to explain... Why didn't you stop to talk to me like a paying customer? Finally he yelled to me as he continued walking away from me - it's coming from Mexico, and they haven't been able to get it for over two weeks. One of the cashiers offered they had smaller bottles available if I wanted them... Frankly as wonderful as the cashiers were, I was done. And I went to Binny's. They had plenty of Patron Cafe and it was on sale. The other products on my list, Svedka - on sale, margaritas - on sale. $191 later and happy as a clam, I left Binny's (along with my $.01 peanuts). And left my loyalty to Sal's at Sal's. I saved at least $20 at Binny's for a 12-minute drive each way. Well worth it!!! read more

Reasonable prices. We were in and out. Pretty basic layout and there were boxes of wine and spirits stacked up against the walls. Some of the shelves appeared empty. Not the best visual. It looked like a going out of business sale. The layout is subpar. The energy and overall vibe here is not the best. Sort of creepy. We wouldn't go out of our way to shop here. Always someone to help you, and they seem to know the stuff. I tend to stick with beer, but when i need something for someone as a gift, an employee always suggests something that i describe to them. So those few times per year that i go there, i tend to not even look at the price of the bottle as long as the employee suggests it and it is what i described. Being at 21 years old, alcohol is somewhat new to me. Dale who is a manager there has helped me pick the perfect wine for my family on my 21st birthday. Earlier this evening I stopped in to grab a 24 of Miller Light and man was it packed. Idk if it was rush hour or what but everyone must love sals!! Their prices are great, service friendly, and selection to die for. I will always shop here. My cashier was wonderful. She looked like she enjoyed her job and was very friendly. I never seen her before and she told me she was new but I think she was great. She said her name was Whitney. In my book she's a keeper! As well as Nicole.. I think Sal's has a great selection for a great price. I would compare it to a Binny's for sure. Anything you are looking for, they probably have it. Their staff isn't quite as friendly and helpful as Binny's, but they get the job done. I really have no complaints, I have been able to find what I want here and have a good time with it.
