Lunch Review! I've loved coming to Lucia Rose for dinner but recently visited for lunch. Their standard menu is still offered as well as lunch sandwiches and a prefix menu! What a great idea for $23 to get a singular portion of an antipasta, salad, and smaller entree. I got the meatball, baby gem caesar, and spicy rigatoni pasta. I came hungry and left with leftovers. The caesar salad and pasta were amazing! The meatball was good but ricotta was served room temp where meatball was served hot. My friend and I agreed the temp difference was off. She got the meatball, roasted beet salad, and chicken parm sandwich. The beet salad wasn't her favorite as the arugula kept getting stuck in her teeth. The chicken parm sandwich had great flavor and was a large portion! I love this idea of a prefix menu for a fun lunch out. Haven't been to Lucia Rose for sometime after moving to Plainfield. Decided to meet a long time friend that I haven't seen for over 20 years. I recommend meeting at Lucia Rose. Love the ambiance, Kathy was great as our server it was that the pizza just wasn't on par with what I've had in the past. I ordered the pistachio pizza, my friend ordered the Margarita. I wanted her to try the pistachio as it always had the ability to roll my eyes with every bite. I was shocked when she said it was just ok. She was right! The pistachio cream didn't have the same taste, actually it had no taste. The cheese wasn't melted, but formed hard ribbons on top, and there was so much sausage the taste was just sausage and salt. Even had my husband taste it when I brought some home and he agreed. No eye roll. My friends margarita was equally as disappointing. The cheese wasn't melted, the middle was soft and sat in a puddle of tomato water when you opened it up. We were planning on meeting back again for dinner with our partners, but both agreed we're going to find someplace else. read more

First time at Lucia Rose! Greeted immediately and seated right away! At first glance the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance with low lights. Complimentary bread and butter given while we look at the menu. For our appetizers we got the Burrata & the Fritto Misto - the Fritto Misto was fire! We made a reservation to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. They have a strict policy about charging a credit card for not showing up for reservations but apparently don't care about having dozens of people standing outside for a half hour waiting to get in. Nobody bothered to come out and explain why the line didn't move and they are clearly dysfunctional. We will NEVER try this place again since their poor management ruined our birthday plans. Wow Lucia Rose exceeded my expectations! The ambiance when you walk in is beautiful and reminds me of being in a fancy restaurant. The plates they use are soo pretty and way better than the boring white plates at the majority of the restaurants. The food was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! It was delicious and fresh tasting. The portion sizes were also good. The service was a bit lacking, but the food and decor definitely made up for it. I had booked this place for a PRIVATE event which cost around $3000. I am later told that because they have a DJ coming in, that we can't use the private room anymore. I let them know that we don't mind, but he says nothing can be done. When I get there, we talk and it seems as if there is a mutual understanding that there will be compensation because I paid for a PRIVATE room. At any restaurant that I've checked out, the private room rate is significantly more expensive than simply reserving tables in the main dining area. Once dinner is done, we talk and he says he can give 30% off the bar tab which ends up being $150....off of a $3000+ event. I told him that that's kind of low and he argues that we had arrived 30 minutes late so it's fair (even though the entire event is already paid for and he had kicked us out of our private space). In addition, my event had been booked before they even announced the DJ on their social media. I only give it 2 stars because the food was good so I'm complimenting the chefs but I didn't appreciate how the owner handled this. read more

We were "greeted" with a scowl and opted for indoors as it was too sunny outside. The decors are lovely bit the food was just ok. We got the pre fixe lunch and the salad was delicious but everything else was sub par. The panini was literally so tiny with barely any arugula in it. The pasta was probably the best option. The food runner was friendly and nice, but the person cleaning up the dishes was overeager to take our plates (even when we were still working on it). I don't think i'd return. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday and was seated right away. It was completely empty inside which doesn't make sense to me - the food, atmosphere and service are excellent! The restaurant is designed very well. It's beautiful, elegant and well kept. It's a city/posh vibe with colors that are neutral and inviting with an accent of a deep emerald green. For food I tried the caprese salad which was light and refreshing. The portion is fairly large so this is a salad that can be shared. I also tried the tartufo wood fired pizza and it was delicious. The flavors are well balanced and overall a solid pizza - this is also fairly large and can be shared. I recommend ordering a few diff things and just sharing with everything you're with. read more

I got the penne arrabbiata and it had just the right level of heat. The tomato sauce was vibrant and seasoned with fresh herbs, nothing too fancy but so tasty. Loved the ambiance of this place; fun music and a great center bar make for a fun date night or girls night out. All the cocktails looked great and are definitely made with the visual eye in mind. Parking: allow a little extra time as the parking lot can be packed on a busy night making parking a little hectic. They do offer complimentary valet at the front, though. We started the evening off with baked clams (12) and nonna's meatballs. The meatballs were my favorite: good for sharing with a table although I wish more than 3 were available with the dish. We all ordered pizzas - 2 of them were gluten free so it's nice they have gluten free options for pizza AND pasta. Note, if you want gluten free, be sure to mention on your reservation or call ahead of time for pizza. Gluten free pasta is available with no call ahead. All the pizzas looked great at our table. We ordered the following pizzas: Don ciccio, Locale, Pistachio, Capricciosa. Finished off the evening with a tiramisu for birthday celebration and limoncello for the table on the house. Prices run about $1-$2 more on pizzas for your selection of Neapolitan pizzas in the Chicagoland area. I think some other staples are a little better, but this is a great selection in the west suburbs. I just enjoyed the evening and would recommend it anyone! Our waiter was very friendly and kind, but three entrees were served with long intervals in between (the 3rd arrived just as the first was finished) over at least 15-20 minutes. Also, my lungs are still burning an hour after I left, as the air quality in this restaurant is horrible. It was a constant assault with cooking oil smells from the kitchen, a dish that gets hand torched and smokey tableside, as well as a drink that burns and creates indoor air pollution. The food was good--burrata was delicious, fried calamari was fresh, vodka rigatoni lacked just a little bit of flavor, Cacio e Pepe was by far the best pasta, chicken parm was nice and crispy, cappuccino was nice and frothy, but rainbow cake tasted a bit frozen. We went in at 6:30pm during girls night Thursday and though it was empty we got seated in possibly the worst seats in the house. We were along the walking path and people were bumping into us all night. We guess it's because they saw were were a younger group and didn't expect us to spend as much or more than other tables like we did. We didn't let it ruin our night and had tons of fun. OMG - this is the most amazing Italian food I've ever had! I was with a large group, so we had lots of different items to share. The burrata was perfect as the bread served with it was just the right size and texture. Then on to the meatballs. I don't even care for meatballs but one bite of these and I couldn't contain my glee. They were so moist and delicious. Next up was the homemade rigatoni with vodka sauce. It was absolutely amazing and melted in my mouth. I barely had room for the chicken limone which was also cooked to perfection. The ambiance was also perfect for our group. We got to honey ricotta on toast, the ricotta was whipped and super yummy. Then we got the truffle woodfire pizza. The woodfire has a delicious firey taste not too burnt and the dough was the perfect amount of chewy! Super yummy. We also got the fritto for apps and it was very delicious. The pasta we got was the pesto, that one was good I think it could have used a little more salt but other than that the pasta in itself was perfectly cooked! Best Italian food I've had in a while! Lucia Rose carries such a chic vibe inside, I loved every second of it. Super cute and modern decor inside with fun and upbeat music playing in the background. I think this place is perfect for a fun date or gathering with friends! The service was spectacular (I believe our waitress' name was Bianca) and our waitress was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations as far as what to order on the menu! My girls and I chose to order the ortolana pizza, burrata, and the grigiliata di pesce, to share. Everything was so amazing and fresh, the burrata was one of the best I've had, and the grigiliata di pesce was to DIE for! The perfect char flavor and super fresh and light. For dinner I ordered the spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce. The pasta was a doable spice level and just as you can imagine the portion was more than enough! Super yummy. Throughout dinner I tried two different types of drinks. One was isola bella which was a gin drink and then another was fiore de fragola. Both were delicious and refreshing.
