She looked young, but don't let that fool you--she was completely on top of everything. We were a party of six that couldn't decide what we wanted, laughed way too loudly, and probably tested her patience more than once. She handled us with grace, humor, and a smile the entire time. Somewhere along the way we started calling her "Wednesday" from The Addams Family, and she rolled with it perfectly. Great sense of humor and fantastic service. The food was excellent. The Crispy Eggplant Salad was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and easily large enough to share between two people. The burger was cooked perfectly, the cocktails were outstanding, and everything arrived promptly. The bar staff also deserve a shout-out. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived, made great eye contact, acknowledged everyone immediately, and had drinks in our hands in no time. The first week was Peruvian. Having been here years ago (not sure if it was the same name) I already knew at the jump that this was our destination. This is an unassuming place in a strip mall, off Lake street. Upon entering you are greeted with, frankly, a beautiful bar and restaurant. The Alpacas are a great touch. We started off with some yucca cheese balls, tropical ceviche and bruschetta. We are still raving about the bruschetta a few hours later. The cheese balls were also amazing. Ceviche was fantastic, but we could have used a few additional plantains. For our meals we had a Arroz Con Pato (duck), Chaufa (a wok), and a Fettuccine à la Diabla Con Bife (steak and pasta). The best of the 3 was the Fettuccine (aka steak and fettuccine). The steak was cooked perfect, the entire thing had amazing flavor. The Arroz Con Pato looked nothing like the menu. It was very good, albeit with the duck being more on the dry side. Flavorwise though, very good. The wok, same deal - looked nothing like the menu. However the person eating it was pleased and that's all i care about. For dessert we had a passion fruit mango cheesecake which was delicious but so rich, not sure I've ever said that. Benefit to it being rich was that I brought it home to eat at my leisure. The spicy churro cake was also a hit. Service was great, it was lunchtime and one woman running both front and back of house but she did great. We loved it, and will return.

She spoke directly with the manager, Anastasia Sokol. Anastasia personally walked my mother into the private room, showed her the space, and asked which side of the room we preferred. My mother clearly explained that we wanted the side closer to the window. Everything was discussed and confirmed, and a $150 deposit was taken. Then, about two weeks later, my mother came back to the restaurant again to make sure everything was still in order. Shockingly, Anastasia acted as if she was seeing my mother for the first time. Despite that, they went through everything again. They discussed the menu again, reviewed the private room again, and once again talked about exactly where we wanted to sit. Then came the most unbelievable part. Our celebration is on Saturday, with all of our guests already invited and everything planned. On Thursday evening, just two days before the event, we received a call from Debby asking us whether we wanted to sit "outside or inside," as if none of the previous conversations, room selection, deposit, and planning had ever happened. We were then told that the private room/space we had arranged was not available for us. This is extremely disappointing and completely unacceptable. My mother physically came to the restaurant two separate times, spoke directly with the manager, was personally shown the private room, chose the side of the room we wanted, discussed the menu, and paid a deposit. To call us only a couple of days before the celebration and suddenly act as if these arrangements never existed is incredibly unprofessional. At this point, all of our guests have already been invited, the celebration has been planned around this reservation, and we are being left at the last minute without the space that was promised to us. We are very, very disappointed with how this was handled. What should have been a happy family celebration has now turned into unnecessary stress because of the way this reservation was managed. We will definitely be escalating this matter to upper management, contacting the owner of the restaurant, and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because this situation needs to be addressed. The way this was handled effectively ruined the plans for our party, and we would never expect this kind of treatment after confirming the same reservation in person twice and paying a deposit.
