Ordered a large deluxe Yalas pizza ($18), told 30 minutes but actually over an hour wait. The pizza was a big disappointment. The crust was dry and the pepperoni on the edges was burnt, there was only a thin-thin layer of cheese. Not the good old Yalas pizza of years past. Will not order from them again. read more

We love the pizza, but the service is horrible. We've been ordering 4-6 pizzas every Sunday night for over 15 years. They still don't recognize our name when we order or pick up. 2 out of every 3 orders are incorrect. Forgotten pizzas, wrong items on pizza. Pizzas not done for up to 30 minutes AFTER the promised time. They NEVER offer any compensation for waiting.....and waiting......and waiting. The customer service is declining at a rapid pace and we have actually, finally, made the decision to stop buying our pizza there. Living in California, I only get to Yala's when visiting the Lorain area. It's always a treat. I grew up close by, and this was and always will be my favorite pizza place! The cheese and pepperoni are out of this world. Luckily, they sell unbaked or half-baked pizzas, which I buy, and freeze, and bring home to California with me! Great pizza joint my Dad enjoyed in the "good ol' days". Pizza was great especially the crust. I can only rate the Yala's style crust which was just thick enough with crispy edge. Next time I'll try the Eliseo's deep dish crust. The sliced sausage was nice and thin with just the perfect flavor to complement the homemade sauce. We live in the area and wanted to try a new pizza place (something besides the typical East of Chicago or Marco's). I searched Yelp and found this place, so we gave it a shot. Boy am I glad we did!!! So good! We got the "deep dish" pizza and the cheese bread it was amazing! I would highly recommend giving this place a chance. Inside looked small so more of a carry out place I would say. I am thoroughly disappointed and upset by my experience at Yala's. As a busy mother who has two small children who love pizza, I have been a loyal costumer since we bought a home in the area, but unfortunately, I will not give them any business ever again. My last 4 pizzas have been burnt, cold or made incorrectly. I stopped ordering from Yala's for 3 months because of the poor costumer service I had after they added onion to a pizza I ordered back in May. They refused to refund us, made us bring the pizza back in order for them to correct their mistake & then they made us wait another 45 mins for another pizza. I have a 3 year old son with autism who will not eat many foods & was pretty upset by the situation. I didn't mention how much trouble it caused is that day, I was just disappointed & stopped going. I tried again this week because our favorite local pizza shop doesn't open until 4pm on Thursdays. And my experience was so upsetting that I am leaving this review to warn people of the lack of care they might endure if their pizza is unsatisfactory & they ever simply want their money back or a full store credit. First of all, no manager would get on the phone to speak with me about the situation & despite my proof of purchase, the fact that I have a photo of the pizza & the word of a manager (who spoke through the employee answering the phone on Friday evening 8/16/2019) The managers of YALAS working on Sunday 8/18 refused to give me a full credit for the pizza we ordered because one of them forgot to write it "in the books". They spoke to me in a very unapologetic and dry manner over the phone as if it was my fault. I was pretty upset & explained how difficult dinner time can be if the food is not correct with a child who has autism and they did not care. As a college student, I worked for a small pizza parlor located just off of the BGSU campus & also the Dominos in BG & I cannot imagine any manager ever treating a customer the way the manager Ken treated me today. I drove there to speak in person because he would not speak with me on the phone & he told me that he was being generous by offering me a $7 credit (even though our bad pizza cost $14.50). By far the worst experience I have ever had with any food place in my life. Unbelievable. I get the impression that they do not care about their customers experience... they are all about the money. I called to place an order today, Monday. I was put on hold for several minutes before they got back to me. It took about 30 seconds to take my order. I asked for a total and was put on hold again. After several minutes I hung up. I was on the phone over 6 minutes at that time. I called back and cancelled my order. I called again to speak with the manager. I started out by telling him I didn't want anything free, I just want to express my disappointment. Instead of saying, " I'm apologize but we are training new people and they haven't been here long". He got defensive and was a little rude. I again told him I wanted nothing but to express the fact that it was a little excessive to take over 6 minutes to take an order. He persisted to be defensive and rude. We are locals and have been patronizing this shop for more than 4 decades. Because of this manager they have lost life long loyal customers. This makes me sad but, we will start ordering from Rosie's, Selenti's or Giovanni's. Management must support their employees but, when a customer calls with an issue you should listen and at least act concerned. Don't be so arrogant as to think you're the only pizza place in town. read more

It seems unfair that I have to judge every pizza ive had in my entire life to yalas pizza. Years of consistently good work. Its a small shop so when things are busy you may new to wait in the storefront for a moment or two for pickup and the drive thru will almost always have a car in it but it's a perfect staple pie / hangover cure that is hard to beat. Yala's pizza was THE absolute best pizza that I've ever eaten (and believe me, I've eaten at many pizza parlors around Ohio and out of state as well) right up until about the late 80's early 90's and then something changed!!! same sauce..just never a generous amount like they once gave you, toppings are the same, but then again just like their sauce, they always skimp! even the cheese is different, VERY generic tasting if you ask me, DEFINATELY not what Mrs. Yala used and she would be embarrassed about the way that this pizza tastes today. I'm sorry, but the person that owns this place has completely ruined the quintessential Yala's pizza flavor period...what a darn shame!!!!!!! because their pizza was to DIE for when I grew up in the 70's and 80's. My folks used to order 2 large every Satuday night for years! but not any more due to their inconsistencies and a different recipe I'll pass. read more
