a man eating a piece of pizza
    Fonte M.

I no longer live in Lorain. I purchase a couple of pizzas from Frans....formerly Yalas when I come to visit. I purchased 1 large extra cheese, and a large "veggie" I grabbed a piece of pizza and there was a slice of pepperoni on the bottom. The male manager said that it happens because they don't cook the pizzas separately. I explained I haven't eaten pork in many years. He didn't seem to care. He didn't take responsibility for anything. He went on telling me about a woman that this happened to before. If I'm ordering a cheese pizza and a veggie pizza it's because I DON'T eat meat. Lacked customer service skills. As much as I loved their pizza ....they can keep it!

Pepperoni Sausage left overs. Cold pizza in morning is so good.

Fran's (aka Yalas) Pizza is arguably the BEST pizza in North American!!! I know that's saying allot and I might get some hate but it's all true. I used the drive thru to pickup the pies we ordered and it was ready in 30 minutes. The owner was at the window and waited on us quickly. Definitely a take out place but you can walk in to pickup too ! Get the sliced sausage pizza !! Soo good

Yala's and Eliseo's are in the same building and prepared by the same staff. I think the main difference between Yala and Eliseo's is the crust thickness. We got a Hawaiian Yala thick crusted pizza and it was very good. We also got some wings, and I def recommend the ginger Asian sauce with them. Finally, I definitely recommend the Eliseo's breadsticks - kinda tasted like focaccia bread with cheese. The reason I am giving Yala's/ Eliseo's a 3 and not a 4 or 5 was because it took about 55 minutes for our order to be ready when we were originally told 25-35 minutes, which was really irritating.

I really like their pizza! We always get the Yala brand, which is a thinner pizza. Sometimes it is made beautifully and other times the toppings are just thrown on top, but regardless, the taste is still good. Not impressed with the the register, but I am only there to pick up my pizza, so I can deal with surly, unpleasant people.

Kind of hit or miss with them lately. Pizza today was not as good as usual. I live a few minutes from Yalas so I try to go there every once and a while, but keep getting disappointed I've had 4 star service from there and I've had 2 star. Today definitely 2 ‍

Growing up I split my pizza live between her and Giovanni's depending on the style I was craving. Moved to LA and man did I miss real pizza.......... back in the O-H and was heading to take a walk down memory lane with my boyfriend. Absolutely had to stop at Yala's........ it's been over 10 years since I had the pizza and it did NOT disappoint! My boyfriend who is not from ohio and happens to be a Sicilian man who has lived all over the US said" this is definitely in the top 5 pizza I've ever had ". " it's the perfect ratio of extra cheese, generous toppings and garlic buttery" sauce is fantastic and crust has the perfect balance of bite in my opinion. Over 30 years of visiting and it's never let me down!!!

This is one of my favorite pizza places around. My pizza today was extra cheese peeperonni and fresh garlic. The cheese blend utilized here is unique and delicious. The sauce is a tangy tomato sauce with a home made crust. Pepperonis are stacked in a unique fashion 4 per slice. Amazing and and affordable price.

You know those child hood memories of some of your favorite foods? Growing up in Lorain there in my mind were three pizza places. During my teen years others showed up. Yala's was one of the original three. Today I had a craving for a taste of my past. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the deluxe. The pizza is loaded with topping so much so that they were falling off the slice. The crust with the mixture of topping and cheese is a perfect marriage. This is a popular spot so be patient. They tell you 30 minutes for pickup but it may be a little wait. I don't know about you but it was worth it to me. I drove from Avon Lake to Lorain just for the pizza a few more minutes was worth the extra minutes. How sad is it that I am looking forward to cold pizza for breakfast. Yup just as good cold for breakfast

I love this pizza so much that I drive from the east side of Lorain to get it. I hate that they closed the one we had over here.

It's so nice to see a really great restaurant on Broadway as more businesses continue to open in downtown. Usually, I get delivery but a few weeks ago I went in for the first time to pick up my order and it was completely packed, both inside and out on a Friday night with multiple orders to-go. I hope their business continues to thrive!

This place was located in downtown Lorain which seems to be trying to turn itself around. We walked in and were greeted by the cashier. As I went to place an order the cashier told us go ahead and have a seat wherever we would like, the waitress will take our order. It's was a nice day outside so we decided to sit outside. I asked about the pizza's, ingredients in sauce and handed her my allergy card. Lorenzo himself came out to talk to me, he recommended the wood fire pizza, its tomatoes and not sauce. We placed our orders. We received our pizza pretty quickly for freshly made, from the first bite it was so delicious. The waitress checked on us and I asked is this the same Lorenzo's from Oberlin? I remember visiting there and loving the pizza. The answer is yes, his son runs the one in Oberlin and he runs this one in Lorain. We ordered cannoli's with chocolate chips, the order comes with 4 mini ones. Tasty as well. The bill was $38 for a medium pizza one topping, 6 slices, 3 drinks and four cannolis (mini). That included the 20% tip. This fed 3 people with two slices and we were satisfied.

My aunt lived right across the street and still ordered Marco's or Little Caesars every time. So naturally, for two decades, I just assumed Rosie's must not be anything special. I was so wrong. When you walk inside, the first thing that greets you is a framed newspaper clipping about Rosie herself. Ninety years old, making pizzas longer than most of us have been alive, crowned as the Pizza Queen and longest-running pizza maker in America. Judging by the article, I'd guess it was published around 2004, since Rosie passed away in 2007 at the age of 93. May she rest in peace, and may her legendary recipe live on through the family who still runs the place today, keeping it in the family. Walking in, I instantly understood why this place has been operating longer than most of us have been around. No cashless world, no touchscreen kiosk, no apps, no nonsense. Cash only. A building that looks exactly the same as the year it was built. The same old-school menu board that probably hasn't moved since it was hung, only the prices have changed. No cheesy bread, no wings, no subs, no "new limited time only" sides trying to distract you. Just pizza. The way pizza was meant to be. And then came the first bite. I swear I felt like I got hit with a nostalgia flashbang. My brain immediately pulled up memories I didn't even know were archived. It tasted like the pizza we grew up with before everything turned into commercialized cardboard covered in grease and marketing budgets. This was simple. This was pure. This was time machine pizza. There is something about Rosie's that a picture can't ever show. The flavor is different. The feeling is different. You take a bite and suddenly you remember being a kid, running around after school, when Friday night pizza actually meant something. My taste buds felt like they were being rebooted by a memory I didn't know existed, delivered courtesy of a cardboard box and a place that refuses to change in the best possible way. Rosie's didn't just serve me pizza. They served me nostalgia wrapped in cheese, baked in time, and sliced into something you cannot understand until you try it yourself. Thank you, for one of the most authentic pizza experiences I've ever had. Rosie's is the real deal. And I wish I hadn't waited 25 years to figure that out.
