I no longer live in Lorain. I purchase a couple of pizzas from Frans....formerly Yalas when I come to visit. I purchased 1 large extra cheese, and a large "veggie" I grabbed a piece of pizza and there was a slice of pepperoni on the bottom. The male manager said that it happens because they don't cook the pizzas separately. I explained I haven't eaten pork in many years. He didn't seem to care. He didn't take responsibility for anything. He went on telling me about a woman that this happened to before. If I'm ordering a cheese pizza and a veggie pizza it's because I DON'T eat meat. Fran's (aka Yalas) Pizza is arguably the BEST pizza in North American!!! I know that's saying allot and I might get some hate but it's all true. Yala's and Eliseo's are in the same building and prepared by the same staff. I think the main difference between Yala and Eliseo's is the crust thickness. We got a Hawaiian Yala thick crusted pizza and it was very good. We also got some wings, and I def recommend the ginger Asian sauce with them. Finally, I definitely recommend the Eliseo's breadsticks - kinda tasted like focaccia bread with cheese. The reason I am giving Yala's/ Eliseo's a 3 and not a 4 or 5 was because it took about 55 minutes for our order to be ready when we were originally told 25-35 minutes, which was really irritating. read more

We recently moved into the area and love trying new places. Having two names confused to us. The first time we visited Eliseo's pizza and thought it was pretty lame so we didn't want to return but, being new to the area, we called Fran's and were stuck with a second pizza from this same place. We won't get fooled again. As stated, the pizza is lame. It has good cheese but after that it falls over a cliff. The sauce needs to be spiced a little and the crust should be more dense. I really like their pizza! We always get the Yala brand, which is a thinner pizza. Sometimes it is made beautifully and other times the toppings are just thrown on top, but regardless, the taste is still good. This will be one of my shortest reviews. Yala's is a take out/delivery restaurant. The menu is varied, but I have only ordered their pizza and wings. I am a huge fan of thin crust, New York style pizza. The Yala's pizza is not quite as thin as I would like. However, it is done well and the best that I have had in the 5 years that I have lived in the area. I ordered the Deluxe with no mushrooms. There is ample meat. The sausage is sliced big and tastes great. The vegetables (onions and green peppers) were fresh and tasted great as well. The sauce is a little sparse for my taste, but the cheese is excellent. Tip - the counter is closed due to Covid, so it is drive through only. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the order is expected to be ready if you are picking it up at a busy time and day read more

You know those child hood memories of some of your favorite foods? Growing up in Lorain there in my mind were three pizza places. During my teen years others showed up. Yala's was one of the original three. Today I had a craving for a taste of my past. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the deluxe. The pizza is loaded with topping so much so that they were falling off the slice. The crust with the mixture of topping and cheese is a perfect marriage. This is a popular spot so be patient. They tell you 30 minutes for pickup but it may be a little wait. I don't know about you but it was worth it to me. I drove from Avon Lake to Lorain just for the pizza a few more minutes was worth the extra minutes. How sad is it that I am looking forward to cold pizza for breakfast. I call at 950. you tell me 30 minutes. we show up at 1024 there is a line so we wait 10 minutes before we get to the window. you say pull around front I'll bring it out. we wait around front for 9 minutes and get back in line to sit another 10 it's 1052 when I get food and my sub looks like this! We ask you wtf is up at the window to have the "manager" roll her eyes at us and tell us things happen! We call to complain we don't give refunds but you can have half off your next sub! I will never trust you people with my food. $30 for cold ass pizza and burnt boneless wings to round it all out! How can a business say no refunds for everything being wrong!?! There are a few places I have to go to whenever I come home for a visit and this is one of them. I grew up in Lorain and Yala's pizza was the only pizza we got when I was a kid, so yeah, it's a nostalgia thing for me. I haven't found another place that makes pizza quite like Yala's. Previous visits I would have rated a 4 or five star, but this time I am just annoyed. I recieved the wrong pizza. We ordered a YALAs style Pepperoni, sliced sausage and mushroom. Yalas has a thinner/crisper crust that I prefer and the sliced sausage is far superior to the hunks, also the round is a bit smaller for a large. My husband checked pizza in the box before leaving because it was an Eliseos box and felt much heavier than our typical pizza.... saw it was larger, fluffier crust and no sliced sausage, and told the cashier. Who argued with him that it was the correct pizza and just the box was wrong because they were out of Yala's pizza boxes. Mistakes are ok and they happen but if I tell you that the pizza is incorrect don't argue. It was just a "meh" experience for us as this is not what we wanted. Hoping they get it right next time, or at least if they don't, they own up to it and offer a solution. Poor hubby had to deal with a disgruntled wife. read more

As a Lorain native that currently lives in Nashville Tennessee, Yala's is a must during any visit back home. The price is great and he pizza is fantastic! They do a great job of making sure each slice is as good as any other. The pizza is still great cold which is nice when you are staying in a hotel without a microwave and there are leftovers.
