a man eating a piece of pizza
Fonte M.

I no longer live in Lorain. I purchase a couple of pizzas from Frans....formerly Yalas when I come to visit. I purchased 1 large extra cheese, and a large "veggie" I grabbed a piece of pizza and there was a slice of pepperoni on the bottom. The male manager said that it happens because they don't cook the pizzas separately. I explained I haven't eaten pork in many years. He didn't seem to care. He didn't take responsibility for anything. He went on telling me about a woman that this happened to before. If I'm ordering a cheese pizza and a veggie pizza it's because I DON'T eat meat. Lacked customer service skills. As much as I loved their pizza ....they can keep it!

Pepperoni Sausage left overs. Cold pizza in morning is so good.

Fran's (aka Yalas) Pizza is arguably the BEST pizza in North American!!! I know that's saying allot and I might get some hate but it's all true. I used the drive thru to pickup the pies we ordered and it was ready in 30 minutes. The owner was at the window and waited on us quickly. Definitely a take out place but you can walk in to pickup too ! Get the sliced sausage pizza !! Soo good

Yala's and Eliseo's are in the same building and prepared by the same staff. I think the main difference between Yala and Eliseo's is the crust thickness. We got a Hawaiian Yala thick crusted pizza and it was very good. We also got some wings, and I def recommend the ginger Asian sauce with them. Finally, I definitely recommend the Eliseo's breadsticks - kinda tasted like focaccia bread with cheese. The reason I am giving Yala's/ Eliseo's a 3 and not a 4 or 5 was because it took about 55 minutes for our order to be ready when we were originally told 25-35 minutes, which was really irritating.

I really like their pizza! We always get the Yala brand, which is a thinner pizza. Sometimes it is made beautifully and other times the toppings are just thrown on top, but regardless, the taste is still good. Not impressed with the the register, but I am only there to pick up my pizza, so I can deal with surly, unpleasant people.

Kind of hit or miss with them lately. Pizza today was not as good as usual. I live a few minutes from Yalas so I try to go there every once and a while, but keep getting disappointed I've had 4 star service from there and I've had 2 star. Today definitely 2 ‍

Growing up I split my pizza live between her and Giovanni's depending on the style I was craving. Moved to LA and man did I miss real pizza.......... back in the O-H and was heading to take a walk down memory lane with my boyfriend. Absolutely had to stop at Yala's........ it's been over 10 years since I had the pizza and it did NOT disappoint! My boyfriend who is not from ohio and happens to be a Sicilian man who has lived all over the US said" this is definitely in the top 5 pizza I've ever had ". " it's the perfect ratio of extra cheese, generous toppings and garlic buttery" sauce is fantastic and crust has the perfect balance of bite in my opinion. Over 30 years of visiting and it's never let me down!!!

This is one of my favorite pizza places around. My pizza today was extra cheese peeperonni and fresh garlic. The cheese blend utilized here is unique and delicious. The sauce is a tangy tomato sauce with a home made crust. Pepperonis are stacked in a unique fashion 4 per slice. Amazing and and affordable price.

You know those child hood memories of some of your favorite foods? Growing up in Lorain there in my mind were three pizza places. During my teen years others showed up. Yala's was one of the original three. Today I had a craving for a taste of my past. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the deluxe. The pizza is loaded with topping so much so that they were falling off the slice. The crust with the mixture of topping and cheese is a perfect marriage. This is a popular spot so be patient. They tell you 30 minutes for pickup but it may be a little wait. I don't know about you but it was worth it to me. I drove from Avon Lake to Lorain just for the pizza a few more minutes was worth the extra minutes. How sad is it that I am looking forward to cold pizza for breakfast. Yup just as good cold for breakfast

I love this pizza so much that I drive from the east side of Lorain to get it. I hate that they closed the one we had over here.

The updated décor gives the restaurant a great vibe and atmosphere, and the low lighting is exceptional--it creates a relaxed, welcoming setting that makes dinner feel like an experience rather than just a meal. The food is outstanding and very well balanced. You can tell there's real attention to quality and flavor. The price point is also spot on for what you get--great quality food and generous portions that make it feel well worth it. While the original owners were great, the new ownership is by far a better fit for the space and what the restaurant has become. Felix and Ellie have really elevated the place. Dinner service runs from 4 PM to 10 PM, with the kitchen usually closing around 11 PM. One thing I appreciate is that if the place is busy, the owners are known to stay open a little longer so guests can enjoy themselves. The dining room is on the smaller side, so you can't pack in a huge crowd--but honestly that's part of the charm. The close-knit atmosphere makes it feel personal and lively... or as Felix would say, it's "way more gooder." My advice: make reservations if you can. You can try just stopping in, but be warned--on Friday and Saturday nights this place is usually packed. If you're in Lorain and looking for a great dinner spot with an awesome vibe, Diso 2.0 Grille is definitely worth checking

The restaurant has a bright, airy atmosphere that feels welcoming even on a slightly cloudy day. The staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful from the moment we arrived. Their Happy Hour menu offered several tempting options, and we sampled a variety of dishes. We started with the Crispy Thai Shrimp, which delivered the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. Kitchen Social is known for its artisan dough pizzas, so we ordered the mushroom pizza, and it certainly did not disappoint. We also tried the Korean BBQ Cauliflower and the Shrimp & Grits...both flavorful and well executed. Since it was Happy Hour, we naturally enjoyed a few cocktails to accompany the meal. We sampled both the Maple Old Fashioned and the traditional Old Fashioned, then ventured a bit further with the Tequila Thyme and the Sangria. Each cocktail was well crafted and enjoyable in its own right. Best of all, because it was Happy Hour, the experience was easy on the wallet. Great food, excellent service, enjoyable drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere make Kitchen Social a place I'll definitely be returning to.

Saturday night was pretty popular and the patio was full, so we sat inside, which is why our photos were rather dark. We started with a round of drinks. I had a glass of rose. Note that the drinks menu is several pages longer than the food menu, with beer, wine, and a variety of specialty and standard cocktails. They also have an espresso bar. It wasn't on the menu, but we ordered the Street Corn dip from the specials board on the sidewalk. We got a nice sized serving, and it was very good. I had the za'atar roast chicken for my entree, and it was delicious! The chicken comes with a lemon yogurt sauce, and Fattoush salad, but the salad was kind of a cross between Fattoush and tabbouleh, with pita chips and a grain base. It was a great combo, and the chicken was very juicy and seasoned nicely. I ended up with a slice of the almond cake, which was moist and had sliced almonds on top. Very much needed after missing out in the ice cream stop this afternoon! One of my friends had a bowl of gumbo and the other one had the taco pie. Since everyone enjoyed their dinner, and we confirmed that the patio was dog friendly, we returned with Miss Pup for brunch. We were able to snag a patio seat with a super friendly server. Miss Pup mostly hung out under the table, but managed to convince some other diners to pet her. We went with some plates for the table - Chicken and Waffle, Chilaquiles, and the special Quiche, which had sundried tomatoes, bacon and feta. All 3 portions were just right for us. The chicken was really moist and the waffle had slightly crispy edges. It came with some fruit and syrup. The quiche slice was generous and it came with a large portion of salad with a fruity vinaigrette. The sundried tomatoes were a really fun addition! I chose the chilaquiles. I'm pretty sure the chips were fried fresh (the ones last night were not), and I liked that it had beans and pico on top! This dish did not contain enchilada sauce, it was more like breakfast nachos, but I really enjoyed it. This place is definitely worth a stop, and the menu stands out from the standard island fish and chips and burgers fare (not that I dislike those things, just something different)!

Since we were hungry, we followed another yelper's advice of getting an appetizer since we were warned the mains can take 30-40 minutes. Ordered the cracklin wings--got the ghost pepper dry rub which was recommended by the staff who also reassured me that it wasn't too spicy given that it was also sweet and came with ranch. Tasted great, super crispy on the outside, chicken not the most juicy but still tender. 4/5. Also ordered the truffle orcchiette, pork chop, and heirloom carrots. The truffle orcchiette had a great al dente texture but surprisingly compared to the other yelper reviews, was saltier than expected. 4/5 Favorites were definitely the pork chop and heirloom carrots. The pork chop came without the bone, already chopped up, and was the he most tender pork chop I've had. 5/5 The carrots were so well seasoned, with a great charred taste and came with an addicting puree. 5/5 Service was fantastic, with great recommendations. While the birthday guest was away from the table, I did sneakily ask if they do anything for birthdays, and the staff said that they do a scoop of ice cream. Since the sticky toffee pudding already came with a scoop of ice cream, they were considerate to do 2 cookies instead--the cookies weren't too sweet and reminded me of brownie batter. Sticky toffee pudding was good. 4/5 Restaurant is located in Pinecrest so parking available as free parking in a garage about a block away or as pay by mobile street parking. Ambience is great, perfect for a nice meal for a date or hangout. Overall a great place to celebrate a special occasion due to all the good food choices and staff who know how to treat birthday guests well.

I told him I would arrive within 40 mins and he said to just walk-in. The website says this is fine dining so for someone to answer the phone and discourage reservations was skeptical. When we arrived we were told since we didn't have reservations we had to sit outdoors. Now the forecast said rain in 10mins. So we told the lady at the desk that I spoke to the man that also at the door about reservations. She said no problem we waited about 10 minutes and we were seated. Our waitress Abby was amazing! I wanted a wellness drink and they were all out but she suggested other mocktail options. She then asked if we wanted tap water or sparkling bottle water. I was confused that they don't have filtered water. We got the tap and it smelled like sewer. We then asked for a bottle of sparkling water. And realized the glass cups smelled bad. If you want a wellness drink arrive early when they open around 11am. It was 1pm when I ordered my food. I ordered the Farmer's breakfast, it came with Two eggs any style, choice of crispy bacon or chicken sausage, grilled sourdough, potatoes. The potatoes were crumbs and left overs, a scoop of potatoes. For a $19 meal I couldn't believe what I was being served. The chicken sausage was amazing! The sourdough bread was grilled with no oil or butter. I asked for jelly thinking they would have compote. Instead they have mini jars of jelly. The main difference is that jam is a shelf-stable, fruit-puree preserve made with high amounts of sugar and added pectin. Compote is a chunkier, less sugary fruit sauce cooked quickly without pectin and meant to be eaten fresh. My husband had the Last Chicken Sandwich, which he said was good but the sandwich didn't come with a side just a $18 chicken sandwich that tasted wonderful.
