We all like stir fries so we decide to give it a try and order the Sesame Garlic bowl with wheat noodles, "roasted steak" and some vegetables. and the "Garlic Butter Shrimp" with wheat noodles, shrimp and vegetables. Reasonably priced at about $13.50 plus tax and tip, I place the order anticipating some roasted steak, juicy plump shrimp, fresh vegetables and homemade wheat noodles covered in a garlic sauce. Tasty sounding! The 'buds are salivating at the very thought of a mouthful. Well, to be honest they weren't bad, but they weren't what I hoped for either. There may have been a hint of garlic in each sauce which otherwise was basically tasteless although one was more buttery than the other. As for the roast steak promise, didn't happen. It was merely a very stingily small portion thinly sliced roast beef overcooked, tasteless and dumped into the mix. I will not be buying that dish again. As for the shrimp dish, there was a scattering of the smallest salad sized shrimp garnishing the dish. Again, a stingy sized portion with another mostly tasteless dish which I won't buy again. I realize everyone has different tastes and expectations so I may be an outlier here. What I do know is that first impressions are important and this was a fail in my opinion. For what I spent I can think of a handful of places to dine in or take out in Avon Lake that I will regularly patronize before I return to Honeygrow.
