People, I'm being serious here. I love Brassica's falafel sandwich. I love everything about it; the warm, soft pita, the crunchy fresh made falafels, the sauce and veggie add-in options (I usually go Baba and eggplant). Tip- whatever option the sandwich maker suggests just say yes :) Pile it in....the pita can handle it! Every bite is delicious. The sandwich is built so every bite captures a little of everything. The happiest part of my day is knowing I'm going to eat at Brassica. The saddest part of my day is staring at the last bite knowing it's over....no more. I can't tell you how the other options are at Brassica with exception of the fries...a nice addition to the sandwich with the garlic mayo sauce. Let's just be honest that initially I was on my way to McDonalds but was lured in by the glowing Brassica sign. The space is clean and inviting, with a modern vibe that's both casual and upscale. It's dim lit and could very well compete with a nice restaurant. It's much more posh than Van Aken location (more spacious too)! There's colorful artwork on the walls that adds a nice local touch, and the staff was friendly. They were also friendly with guests behind me that were there for the first time. I ordered a bowl and loaded it with all kinds of toppings that were generously served. The line moved very quickly and efficiently. Both the bowl and the pita were delightful, super fresh. I was surprised because I was there on a Sunday night around 8 PM. I'd expect for the food quality to be declining but it was not. Let me reiterate, the house-made pita was fresh and warm! Order it! This Brassica offers drinks, wine, and even margaritas. I haven't seen margarita at other Brassicas. I was floored when they asked to chill the wine for the couple dining in. I wouldn't expect it at Brassica. I liked the vibe so much that I also dined in. The restaurant is very spacious and comfy. This was not my first time at Brassica, but it had been a while. My first time was unremarkable. This, however was far more enjoyable than my first time around. The order process was slightly overwhelming, even for some on who had been there, but the staff made every effort to explain things simply and help us order. The food was outstanding! The diverse flavors, textures and colors made the meal enjoyable to nearly all of my senses! The dining area was well lit, until about 7:30p when the lights dimmed, making it feel a bit like a wine bar. The decor lacked direction, but felt like an attempt at elevating the space in order to justify pricing. Brassica is a fast casual restaurant that is assembly - style restaurant with middle eastern/ mediterranean food. You can get a sandwich, salad (comes with some type of grain), or hummus bowl. Then you can choose between adding hummus or baba ganoush. Then add a crunchy topping - pita chips or crispy onions. Next add your star of the show which is brisket, chicken, falafel, or pickled vegetables. Then you can add from your choice of pickled veggies - beets, cabbage, cukes, and radishes. Next choose your sauce - they have for option. I suggest the special sauce. You can also add feta cheese. Lastly, roasted veggies - eggplant, cauliflower + jalapeños, and carrots. I remember meeting the owner (who came from Columbus) and other members of their leadership team for a special opening event with Yelp in Shaker Heights, Cleveland (this was around April 2019). I've been to Brassica in Shaker Heights over 10 times now so I was happy to hear that Brassica opened a 2nd Cleveland location in January 2024 in Westlake. I first visited the Westlake location in January 2024 where I was given a complimentary meal courtesy of Yelp Cleveland. I recently came back in May 2024 to buy dinner. AMBIANCE -- fast casual restaurant but the aesthetic inside presents itself as a fine dining restaurant with the wooden interior ceiling and dim light. Super cute. FOOD -- Start off with either a sandwich ($8.90 - organic pita + your choice of fillings), hummus ($9.90 - organic pita + your choice of toppings), or a salad bowl ($11.90 - greens, grains which are curried rice pebbled with lentils + your choice of vegetable ingredients and crunchy toppings). Once you've picked a pita sandwich, hummus bowl, or a salad bowl, then select your protein option. Protein choices are vegetables only, falafel which is made from chickpeas, chicken, or brisket (beef). Next, select a sauce which you can get on the side or have it spread all over your bowl or sandwich. **NOTE - falafel is a $2 extra charge, chicken is $3 extra, and brisket is $4 extra. If you just want vegetables in your salad bowl or pita sandwich, that's included at no extra cost. TASTY -- When I visited in May 2024, I chose a salad bowl ($11.90) with falafel ($2.00) and a side of pita ($1.50) which totaled $15.40. I love that I can add as many toppings to my salad bowl as possible at no extra cost so I always load it up. I got the Z'hug sauce on the side which is a green sauce made out of cilantro. Once I got home and ate, I couldn't finish my salad bowl. I only had about 7 more bites left but I was already so full so you will be satisfied if you eat here. SIDES -- Fries, pita bread, tahini chocolate chip cookie which is vegan I believe, or a side of falafel. Let me tell you right now to GET their pita bread because it is made FRESH just like everything else but it is so yummy especially if eaten right when it comes out of their oven when it is still soft. Their fries are also so crispy and delicious. DRINKS -- Water or their several other drink options such as their minty pink lemonade, kombucha, Boylan soda, iced-tea, or alcohol (wine or seltzer). 5/5 STARS -- I'll definitely be back because I love their healthy food. As an "OG" Brassica eater, LOL, I MISS their lamb bacon as a protein option. Who remembers when they had lamb bacon? I was initially going to eat somewhere in the Crocker Park district, but the place was so busy I couldn't get a parking spot. I drove across the drive and found this shopping complex and discovered Brassica, so I figured I'd give it a try. I scoured the menu before I walked in and didn't quite get what it was? I gathered it was a middle eastern style restaurant where you can assemble (with the help of staff) sandwiches and other food to your liking. Ok, sounded interesting, so I went in. They have a menu on the wall but no specific pricing. You can get a nice pita stuffed with Falafel, brisket (both for an additional upcharge) or chicken and another protein stuffed into a pita or salad with toppings and your choice. Ok, cool. I got to the front of the line and they have several workers who assist you at different points of that station as you work your way down. I was a bit confused as to how this worked and what to order, so I informed the gentleman behind the counter. He looked at me like I was crazy, didn't answer my questions and just said "PITA OR SALAD." ok so he was annoyed and borderline rude. Great way to start off! I went with a pita and wanted brisket with it. They lined the sandwich with hummus and then moved it to the sauce section. Again, I was looking at the sauces because I couldn't see some of the labels. I asked which one was which and if they were hot, what they suggest, that I was new, etc. AGAIN, the kid was irritated! GREAT. He wasn't interested in answering my questions just wanted to push me down the line since the place was jamming. I get it, it's Saturday night, your busy and the line's out the door. Fine. Eventually I get to the register to pay and the register lady, who was actually friendly, asked if I wanted fries. I said sure, why not. She did say they're seasoned, so why not. She rang me up and with a beverage, my bill was $20! holy goodness I wasn't expecting that, but ok it is what it is. No fries were ready though, so I had to ask if I wait for the fries or if she walks them out. She said they walk them out. I sit down, and start eating. Eventually, I'm about halfway through my meal and realize no fries. I'm concerned because other patrons are walking by me with their meals who have fries. I become concerned but didn't want to leave my seat. I continued waiting. Eventually, I go up and ask and see a container sitting waiting behind the counter of fries. They were for me, obviously, but since the place was busy, the register lady did not have time to run them out. She saw me walk up and then came around the counter, apologized and walked them to my table. Finally! While the food here was good, I found that they need some improvement here. First, menus and pricing. All they have is stuff written on the wall which can cause backup in their ordering line. They need a price breakdown so people like me can review and not hold up the line. Second, and most importantly, the staff was grossly unhelpful. I had informed the staff I've never been here before and they made zero effort to educate me on how this works on top of NO MENUS. If the staff isn't going to help, then put menus out there explaining how this works. They did neither here. Also, I can look past a few things since nobody's perfect. But, a few small things. I would've been happy to go up and get my fries myself since they were busy, but no one said anything. Also, the garbage by the fountain machine was FULL. it clearly hadn't been taken out in some time, which means someone behind the counter didn't want to be bothered. When I was done with my meal, and I put my tray and garbage on the trash can I couldn't even fit anything in the can. Would I return here? probably, probably not. the foods good but the staff doesn't seem to care to deeply and was overwhelmed and stressed out. read more

A must try if you haven't already, Brassica offers chipotle style, fast-casual, mod-mediterranean pitas and bowls and is a fantastic entry point into mediterranean cuisine for picky eaters. I've visited probably a dozen times over the last year, and not once have I had a poor experience. The workers are quite friendly and accommodating, the service is quick, and the food is delicious and creative. They give the choice between falafel (+$2), chicken (+$3), and brisket (+$4). The falafel is good, but best on its own dipped in special sauce. The chicken is nothing particularly special; I recommend the brisket. It's quite solid and compliments the other ingredient choices nicely. Speaking of, what stands out the most to me are the toppings. Each one gets a unique and flavorful treatment that plays well with each other, but that you can also pick off your pita and eat "a la carte" just as happily. Some examples are 'cukes and radishes, cauliflower and jalepeños, pickled cabbage, and marinated eggplant. This attention to detail really sets Brassica apart from other fast casual spots, and justifies the slightly higher price point. There are a handful of sauces, and the three that I've tried are excellent. But their special sauce is otherworldly. DO NOT go without trying the sauce; get it on the side if you need to. You'll thank me later. If you like fries, these are pretty good, especially with special sauce. As mentioned before, the falafel are also very good a la carte. The mint lemonade was solid, and this location also has bubbly water for free in the soda machine if you're into that sort of thing. I haven't had the tahini cookies. A bit pricey compared to other fast casual spots, but worth every penny IMHO. Do not bring your significant other if you don't want to be begged to go every other day. You can get salads, hummus bowls, or a pita sandwich. You then pick as little or as many toppings as your want. Everything is built in front of you and is so fresh! We both got brisket and all the fixings and wow was it delicious! The portions are generous and you could probably save some for a second meal if you wanted. We even got a Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie to split for dessert and that was the perfect little treat after such a flavorful meal! We stopped at Brassica while running errands in the West Bay plaza and it was a great choice! The restaurant itself was very clean and I loved the casual, yet upscale ambiance. The pitas are freshly made and I watched the employees pulling them directly out of the oven and serving them to guests. They were so soft and warm and chewy, with great flavor. The hummus was also delicious, and my partner raved about the seasoning of the chicken. Everything was fresh and tasty. Getting into the place was interesting in a wheelchair. Lots of narrow turns. Someone immediately helped us and answered questions. They let us get things on the side to try them. I thought garnish veggies was fresh and roasted. The taste of the cauliflower was excellent and not overly seasoned.my chicken pita was also fresh and flavorful. It was nice that the pita bread was solid. It didn't break apart or become messy. They did have it in paper that sat in a brass ring for decore. They have a wide selection of beverages. From hard cider to wines and sodas. I got the mint pink lemonade. That too was very good. VERY GOOD. The staff was extremely friendly and so helpful. It was hoppin, but we were greeted immediately. You get your choice of either a sandwich, salad, or hummus. Build-on from there. Someone described it as a Middle Eastern Chipotle-style menu. It's so so much more I had the sandwich, which started with an organic pita rolled into dish. The pita alone makes this meal worth every penny. They are baking it fresh in a stone-fired oven right in front of you. I've never had pita this fresh, soft, chewy, delicious. This sets them apart from any other restaurant of it's kind. I added hummus, chicken, cukes, radishes, cabbage, feta cheese, and their special sauce which was a garlic of some sort. I ended up not eating it as a sandwich, but I forked it to savor each intentional bite. So fantastic. I can't wait to try a salad with pita chips next. A manager was walking around to check on people and offered us a sample cookie. He brought us each a full Tahini Chocolate Chip cookie. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was absolutely fantastic. I've also heard good things about the fries- next time! Everything was really delicious, the space was beautiful, and the people were very friendly. It was not a cheap lunch, but nothing is!
