We spend quite a bit of time in Vermilion and have a had a hard time finding a go to pizza place. Soul on Fire, even though it's a bit of a drive for us, is the spot! First off, the restaurant itself is very clean, welcoming and modern. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We got to meet the owner and he was very nice and appreciative of our business. He even let us box up what was left of our pizza and leave it in the fridge to be picked up later since we were on our way to a baseball game and didn't want to leave it in our hot car. The pizza itself is woodfire. Thinner crust, fresh meats and/or vegetables, and really, really good! Dine in or carry out - there is a fun local park near by that you can visit and have a picnic! Soul on Fire is great, We will be back soon.

My husband and I stopped here while passing through town because the name sounded cool. The exterior and interior are super casual but the food was super good. We had a garden salad and the vodka pizza. It was my first time having peas on a pizza and it was amazing. The staff were very friendly. I'd eat here again.

First of all, I'd like to say that this is not bad pizza at all. It is more than halfway decent and probably deserves more than two stars (but no more than three). But right now, at this moment? Right now now I feel like I've been the victim of false advertising. This pizza is "wood-fired" in the most perfunctory sense of the word. Honestly, if I hadn't seen it bake for myself I wouldn't have believed it. In fact I still don't. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it is a gas-fired pizza. The texture of the dough is all wrong. There are certain aspects that one expects when they order an authentic wood-fired pizza. The dough should be thin and crispy, yet pliable, and the crusts and upper tips of the toppings should be lightly charred. The crust should break somewhat like a baguette and the cheese should strreeecccchhhhh when you pull a piece away from the others. This pizza is like eating cake. And the cheese refuses to stay on the cake. Never before in my life have I eaten a slice of "wood-fired" pizza with a fork. I didn't have a choice tonight. They also call this a "New York style pizza," which it is surely not. This is far closer to "Detroit style" pizza than anything else. New York style pizza is very thin, slightly limp and light on toppings. It is designed to be folded over and eaten with one hand if necessary. It also won't put you to sleep. This is the kind of pizza that makes me want to take a three hour nap and wake up upset after I eat it. And good luck folding a slice of this in half without squirting pizza shit all over your wrists. You know what? If I just knew what kinda pizza I was getting myself into here I probably would have not made this particular choice on this particular afternoon. I would have waited for a different time, a different mood. But I was deceived.

Beyond delicious. Ingredients are fresh and the dough is perfectly done. The "hot honey " pairs perfectly with the saltiness of the pepperoni and sausage. Definitely an experience you do not want to miss. What can I say... great pie!!

I can't tell you how happy I am to have found this place. Lorain has some good, hometown pizza places (and I know them all) but THIS pizza is truly a work of art. Their wood fire pizza is beyond delicious - perfect balance of sauce and toppings, and the crust is crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Their quality is spectacular, and the even have a gluten free option, a cauliflower crust option, and vegan cheese as an option too. I'd make the drive for this pizza, but lucky for me, it's close to home. Support this small business - one taste and you'll be hooked too.

Pizza is great, probably my families favorite, little pricey so not a first pick unless we budget a bit.

This place was located in downtown Lorain which seems to be trying to turn itself around. We walked in and were greeted by the cashier. As I went to place an order the cashier told us go ahead and have a seat wherever we would like, the waitress will take our order. It's was a nice day outside so we decided to sit outside. I asked about the pizza's, ingredients in sauce and handed her my allergy card. Lorenzo himself came out to talk to me, he recommended the wood fire pizza, its tomatoes and not sauce. We placed our orders. We received our pizza pretty quickly for freshly made, from the first bite it was so delicious. The waitress checked on us and I asked is this the same Lorenzo's from Oberlin? I remember visiting there and loving the pizza. The answer is yes, his son runs the one in Oberlin and he runs this one in Lorain. We ordered cannoli's with chocolate chips, the order comes with 4 mini ones. Tasty as well. The bill was $38 for a medium pizza one topping, 6 slices, 3 drinks and four cannolis (mini). That included the 20% tip. This fed 3 people with two slices and we were satisfied.

Pizza perfection! The staff were so incredibly welcoming and friendly to our out of town crew. Gosh I wish I could remember all the names of the sweet girls working. But back to pizza.... The brick oven pizza crust was cooked to perfection. The pizza with spinach and the one with meatballs...I cant put into words how awesome the pizza was. It was light, airy, just cheesy enough, not too much sauce- truly pizza perfection!

Let me confess something. I have lived in Lorain County for 25 years, and somehow I never tried…read moreRosie's. My aunt lived right across the street and still ordered Marco's or Little Caesars every time. So naturally, for two decades, I just assumed Rosie's must not be anything special. I was so wrong. When you walk inside, the first thing that greets you is a framed newspaper clipping about Rosie herself. Ninety years old, making pizzas longer than most of us have been alive, crowned as the Pizza Queen and longest-running pizza maker in America. Judging by the article, I'd guess it was published around 2004, since Rosie passed away in 2007 at the age of 93. May she rest in peace, and may her legendary recipe live on through the family who still runs the place today, keeping it in the family. Walking in, I instantly understood why this place has been operating longer than most of us have been around. No cashless world, no touchscreen kiosk, no apps, no nonsense. Cash only. A building that looks exactly the same as the year it was built. The same old-school menu board that probably hasn't moved since it was hung, only the prices have changed. No cheesy bread, no wings, no subs, no "new limited time only" sides trying to distract you. Just pizza. The way pizza was meant to be. And then came the first bite. I swear I felt like I got hit with a nostalgia flashbang. My brain immediately pulled up memories I didn't even know were archived. It tasted like the pizza we grew up with before everything turned into commercialized cardboard covered in grease and marketing budgets. This was simple. This was pure. This was time machine pizza. There is something about Rosie's that a picture can't ever show. The flavor is different. The feeling is different. You take a bite and suddenly you remember being a kid, running around after school, when Friday night pizza actually meant something. My taste buds felt like they were being rebooted by a memory I didn't know existed, delivered courtesy of a cardboard box and a place that refuses to change in the best possible way. Rosie's didn't just serve me pizza. They served me nostalgia wrapped in cheese, baked in time, and sliced into something you cannot understand until you try it yourself. Thank you, for one of the most authentic pizza experiences I've ever had. Rosie's is the real deal. And I wish I hadn't waited 25 years to figure that out.

Was looking forward to trying this place out. Got there and it was closed. They should update their…read morehours.
