I gave him a print-out of the angular panes I needed in glass (see photo). I'm not sure how much clearer I could have been, but you be the judge. I walked him through it in detail, explaining each number and what they meant. I assumed he could either do it, or send it to someone who could. They came back as rectangles (see photo). He offered me no refund for his error, not even the spread between what I paid and his cost. He could've easily taken back the two 45" x 32" glass panes, which could've been used for other clients without issue. Instead, he cheated a long time customer out of $1750 without so much as an expression of regret.

Mark was super friendly and really a pleasure to talk to. He gave me plenty of choices and price options. He even gave me a suggestion of his favorite sandwich to get from Spacebar next door since I was stopping there after dropping off my puzzle. :-) I do have something else I need framed at some point in the future, and will definitely be returning to Design Frames.

Plaza Art is my go-to store for art supplies. Though, Blick Art in downtown DC is a close second!…read more I find just about everything I need at Plaza, which is in the Pan Am Shopping Center. The staff is always friendly and helpul. I like the member discounts too. I'd go with five stars for Plaza but for two li'l reasons I'll stick with 4: - they don't stock Staedler graphite pencils, and I just can't do General graphites. - some of the colors of Holbein gouache paint have been out of stock for a while. In all fairness, this might be because these Holbeins aren't currently available from Plaza's distributor. But I keep coming back!

For professional artists, this store has everything you could ever want but I found the store just as enchanting as a casual browser. As a stationary lover, I was impressed with their Japanese notebook and pen selection, as well as cute kawaii accessories like a leather cat pencil case which is now my daughter's most treasured possession. If you care about your art, run (don't walk) to Art Frame Solutions! After considering multiple…read moreframing shops, we walked into this gem and instantly knew we were in the right place. Leslie was juggling another customer when we arrived, but instead of being annoyed, I was fascinated--watching her expertly guide someone through the framing process was like witnessing a masterclass. By the time it was our turn, I had zero doubts we were in great hands. We brought in a gold-on-cowhide Garuda from Thailand and had a vision: two panes of glass with a sleek, minimal frame. Leslie was meticulous, explaining every step, recommending plexiglass over glass, and even hunting down a hard-to-find frame to complete the look. When my husband spotted a small area that needed repair, she reassured us that Omer, the conservator, would handle it with care. Fast forward 1.5 months--Garuda is back, beautifully repaired, mounted, and framed to perfection. They went above and beyond, and we couldn't be happier. Forget those big-box stores with their clueless student workers--if your art matters, Art Frame Solutions is the only place to go!
