Whether you're looking for the spot to watch the games, getting the perfect Guinness pour and good food downtown, Foxy's proper pub has got out! They feature a stunning bar and dining area and lots of outdoor seating to include an upstairs patio for more intimate dining and downstairs patio seating with TVs perfect for watch parties. The full bar has something for all and of course has Irish favorites like Guiness and Ciders on ice. We love the brunch menu we tried as well as the ice cold drinks and welcoming vibes. What I tried: Sausage and Egg Frittata Smoked Salmon with horseradish cream, dill, caper and soda bread Ham & Brie sandwich with macerated berries, honey mustard on sourdough (obsessed with this flavor combo)! read more

my son and I came from out of town. I'm very laid back I'm not a snob service was horrible ... pink haired waitress ... did not seat us ... I had to ask the bartender where to sit. when she came over .... we ordered a coke with a lemon. and a water. she informed us that the water is self serv. no problem. when she returned with the coke no lemon ... she took our order. then asked if I wanted to close out. I said no. then asked if I would mind she took my card out it into the machine and then haned it back with options to tip. starting at 20% and going up. we had not gotten our food yet. I said this is weird. of course we never saw her again. 20% for what. this has never happened to me. this is a terrible way to serve people. it's too bad bc the food was good. I give this place a BIG FAT 0000000ZERO00000 My girlfriend and I went in for St. Patrick's Day. First off, the place had absolutely no music. It was just people yelling and the ambience was total crap. All the lights were blasted on, so it was super bright. Her and I got to the bar and were not greeted at all and stood there for a good 10 minutes before a bartender came over after serving several people that had stepped up to the bar after us. We were then served, crappy and very small Irish car bombs. The bartender was surly and bitchy and then charged us $17 a piece, for the shittiest car bomb ever had. How hard is it to make that. The beer was super fizzy and barely enough amount for a proper drink they gave us the tiniest shot. I paid $34 for two really crappy Irish car bombs. F*** this place. Foxy's PROPER CRAP. read more

Menu online looked good and how do you pass up an Irish pub. We walked in and it immediately smelled musty and moldy. We were going to leave but decided to go and check out the upstairs deck. We went up to look around and was about to leave and the bartender brought up menus so we felt obligated to stay. bad idea! We ordered fish and chips and the reuben. We asked if the corned beef was tender and thinly sliced and he said it's amazing and that he had it for lunch. We ordered it and it was so tough. He never came back up to check on us and we were the only ones up there. Also the fish was very fishy tasting. Not a good experience and the bill was over $50 just for the food. read more

Went here for a proper Guinness and they delivered. Friendly bartenders that made me feel welcome. However, the Ruben that I had was terrible. The corned beef was so over cooked that it was tough and no longer tasted like corned beef. It was dry, grey and-unappealing. No idea about the other menu items so I'll leave it at the Ruben. For relatively expensive food, the portions are small and the drinks were not made very well. The old fashions were not made well and had a ton of cherry juice or something thrown into the drink. The bartender also didn't know what Hendricks was and had to ask how to make drinks. The fish and chips with curry ketchup was pretty decent. The lamb burger was dry and bland. I mean it's nots the worst place to eat- The scotch egg was cold and the sausage had enough fennel to be considered an Italian sausage. In Austin where good food is king: this place belongs somewhere else. It was all just meh. Everyone who was drinking seemed to be enjoying their drinks, but the food is lackluster. Nope. Nope #1 their cocktails! They are watered down and awful. We went here last Friday, we ordered 3 cocktails 2-3 were bad, the Moscow Mule was utterly undrinkable. Nope #2 the bar tender! When we asked to have it replaced after one sip the bartender tried to engage us on how a Moscow Mule is a straight forward cocktail and there's no way they could mess it up- yeah. That's what I'd think too... but you did and it's fucking terrible (may have had soap or cleaning chemical residuals on the mug). After getting the 'cocktail speech' from our less than friendly bar tender he offered to replace it. We stuck with beer after that. Nope # 3 Billing! They still charged us for the cocktail they F'ed up! Just another fake-ass want to be "Irish" pub that thinks if you throw a map of Ireland on the wall and use empty Jamison bottles as decorations you're an "Irish" pub. ANYONE who reviews this place as an "authentic Irish pub" has NEVER been to Ireland and I dare say never left the state of Texas... cause it's not even a good - bad Irish pub. Foxy's is a nicely done pub in the middle of downtown Austin. The limited food menu has a mix of interesting pub offerings. We tried the twice baked potatoes, scotch egg, and fish & chips. The food is a cut above normal bar fare but somewhat soggy cod filets were a bit of a let down. Where to start! This place is super cool. We sat at the bar and chit chatted with the bartenders. Very friendly and noticed a cool feature behind the bar. They have a pulley system to send drinks up to the patio/2nd floor! The food was delicious. I got the bangers and champs and my fiancé got the cottage pie. Both were amazing! I held a happy hour at Foxy's. They were one of the only places that was flexible and willing to negotiate. The food and drinks were great and the Lookout has some great outdoor space. I definitely would recommend doing events there. read more

If we lived here, this would become our neighborhood pub. I'm pretty sure my husband & I are not the "ideal demographic" and we had a great time. The bar was full with all sorts of people & everyone seemed to be having fun. Our server, Brett, was top notch. The spicy cloverita cocktail was recommended to me as I wanted something I hadn't had before. It did not disappoint. The habanero bitters were just the right amount of heat. My husband had a Boddingtons beer which can be hard to find. The food was really good. The sausage around the Scotch egg was delicious & the whole thing was cooked perfectly. We shared fish & chips and a wedge salad. Brett was happy to give us extra plates for sharing and no split plate charge. We will absolutely return next time we are in Austin. read more

The only reason I am leaving two stars instead of one is based on the other staff member I dealt with that, despite being busy, the others were attentive. However I and my party have never been treated so poorly by a server. What an amazing pub with great food! This gem has the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The curry ketchup really was a game changer as we don't usually eat it with tartar sauce. (Sacrilege, I know). The chips were flakey but till had a good crunch. The fish batter was light and maintained its integrity--although it didn't last very long. I absolutely adored our time at the foxy proper Pub. This Pub features unlimited menu but what is on the menu packs a punch. They have unique selections to release capture the Spirit of Ireland though I'd be remiss if I said this was a truly Irish Pub. We came here to meet with five others and the bartenders were absolutely excellent. You order your food at the bar and then they'll give you a number to bring your food to your table. This does prevent too much jostling around as covid is still amongst us. My fish and chips came out hot and were delicious. I was surprised that there ketchup is not straight ketchup, it actually has curry in it which gives another European Flair. Bonus points. I was sad that we did not get malt vinegar with our fish and chips, other members of our party when they received theirs at a later time did get malt vinegar. One person an hour party order the Scotch egg and it was absolutely beautiful, but he was a little unimpressed with a sausage.
