We have used Fox Services for maintenance of our 2 very old AC systems over the past 5 years and the service had always been good. Reasonable response times from the main office to schedule appointments, on time service calls at a reasonable price, and always very efficient service technicians. So when one of our two 23 year old systems finally failed I was definitely considered Fox Service for the replacement of both systems. Just like everyone I wanted the most for my money so I got 3 bids for a new system. I opted for Fox Services over 2 smaller family owned business. The decision was simple. Fox Services had the lowest price and actually was able to answer all my questiions quickly and efficiently. This really highlights the customer first metality that the Fox Service Project Manager Cary Weaver displays. He not only explained the AC system options that were available, but was able to clearly explain the City of Austin's rebate program. The fact that Fox Services handles all the paperwork and scheduling for the city rebate program is a huge time saver. This was something the 2 smaller companies wanted no part of. They both specifically spelled out that I was bacially on my own if I wanted to pursue getting the rebates the city offers and that having the Austin Energy inspector review the installation was not the best option for me. Not at all the expeerience I got from Fox Services. They explained the advantages of doing the AC units and wetherization at the same time. Not only does this help with my electric bill, but it also increases the rebate that is offered by the city. They filed all the paperwork and scheduled/attended all the visits to my home by the city auditor. So the Sales portion of the experience was very good. Because of how the city rebate program is administrated it was necessary to install each AC unit separately and do the weatherization on separate days. Fox was able to get the failed AC unit replaced the day after I accepted their estimate. They were also able to schedule the replacement of the 2nd very old unit and do the weatherization on the following 2 Saturdays to allow me to minimize my time off from work. This is one of the little things that Fox is willing to do that really makes me want to give them high marks for customer service. I dont want to go into huge detail on the installation of the 2 AC units and the weatherization of my house. The simpliest thing to say is that there were multiple crews involved in getting it all completed and every person involved worked very hard and was very customer focused. They were professional, put up with numerous questions on what was going to be done, they solicited my input when there were options to be considered, and executed the work in the best way possible. Putting up with the home owner looking over your shoulder all day can be stressful and eveyone from Fox was great about it and incredibly polite when I asked questions. One thing to note. This type of work can be messy and the Fox teams try really hard to keep your house clean. They put down drop clothes to aviod tracking things in and vacuumed when they were done. I hate to admit it but I think they had my house cleaner after the work and than before they started. I won't say that everything went perfectly, but that is to be expected with multiple crews and multiple activities overlapping. The first item was that someone inadvertently damaged a very small area of the sheetrock ceiling in my garage. They recognized that they caused the damage, and immediately informed me and made it clear that Fox Services would get it repaired to my satisfaction. What could have been a negative turned into a VERY positive experience for me. Not only was the sheetrock repair crew at my house within 30 minutes. They completed the repair in an amazing way. They insisted that it look perfect before they were satisfied. I mean this is a 20 year old garage ceilling and Fox went so far as to completely repaint it because the repair paint was just barely noticable. No arguements, no having to call the main office, no hassle. This is what I want from a service company do a great job and if there are problems stand by your work and fix it quickly without inconveniencing me. The second item was that when the city reviewed the audit numbers from the AC duct sealing that is part of the weatherization work, they questioned how low the leakage rate was. Basically, the numbers were so low they seemed to be in error. This flagged the auditor and he informed everyone that the city requires an independent company to validate the measurements before the city will authorize the rebates to be issued. Well the great news was that yes the nembers were verified as correct by a 3rd party. Validating that the Fox Services weatherization team does exceptional work. Fox Service Company is superior. Over more than twenty-five years, we have used Fox for HVAC, plumbing and electrical services. At times we have strayed to other well known Austin area service companies for our residential service needs when their prices have been better, but we always return to Fox. They are just that much better than the competition. A case in point is our recent purchase of a Mitsubishi mini-split system. We had converted an upstairs storage area above our garage into a combination media and exercise room. There was no way to connect it to the existing zoned ducted system. We sought bids from a number of companies for a mini-split heat pump for this 380 square foot space. This project was particularly problematic because there was only one outside wall through which to run the necessary hardware and we were concerned about damage to the appearance of the house. The bid from Fox was superior by far. No other bid even came close. I am not talking about price here. There was another bid that was very close in price. I am addressing quality of service, courtesy, listening to the customer, and complete service. Cary, the project manager, came to the house, did a careful walk through and measurements, and listened patiently to what I had to say about expectations. Other bidders seemed either in a hurry or not really interested in doing anything other than their standard installation job. Over several days, Cary and I examined a number of options, both in equipment and installation plans. He always had time for my calls and emails. When we decided to move forward, five people arrived on the morning of the job: Cary, Brandon the installation supervisor, Tony and Fili, the installation technicians, and Kenneth, one of the Fox electricians. I was ready for an ugly line running from the room on the second floor along the outside of the stone face of the house. Here, a special note of praise goes to Brandon and Tony, who figured out a way to route the lines through the ceiling of the garage, above the drywall and come out only about seven feet above the compressor on the west side of the house. It is practically invisible. Tony and Fili worked very hard to give us that result. It was a difficult job. Kenneth, the electrician, ran the electrical line just where I asked him. This kind of service is just very unusual. We had a large HVAC system installed by one of the Fox competitors to replace an older system earlier in 2015. They made unwelcome changes in the location of compressor lines and the ducts in the attic without even asking, and then were reluctant to put things back as they were. Poor customer service! By contrast, everyone from Fox worked to give us the result we did not even know we wanted. And then finally two days later, they sent another technician, Gerardo, to complete the line hide conduit job and two drywall/paint specialists, Don and David to repair the damage to the drywall which was required to do the installation. Don and David even painted the room repair to match the color of the room and painted the areas of the ceiling and wall of the garage to match the two original paint colors. Everything looks just as it did before the job. All total, eight people worked on this job. Cary, the sales manager came out to the house three times to make sure things were to our satisfaction, and Brandon the supervisor came out twice. By contrast, the salesperson of the competitor who sold us the unit in early 2015 came out, made the sale and was never heard from again. We never saw an installation supervisor. Fox can't be beat. I picked 3 companies to give me a quote as my home needed the works, summer was coming and we had no A/C. Cary, the sales person that won my vote based on his presentation and my gut feeling that they would honor their work and the biggest (factor #3) was that he was not pushy or promising the moon but everything I needed at a reasonable price. A few days later they had the old A/C junk out of my home and the new cutting edge equipment cooling my house the same day. They had a crew of talented guys that worked from 8am till midnight which completely blew my mind away. BUT we had a/c!! The entire job did take a few days but was able to trust the, walking thru my home, of course you have to set up something tempting to take and it was still there so I was able to give them all the freedom to do the work that was required. The guys that worked on my home( Willie, Juan, Chris, Roy, David, Gerardo and Shelton) I am thinking I missed a few names and I do hope they get the recognition they deserve as the work they did was spot on, that was a few months ago now, I did give it some time before I gave this recommendation, they are the real deal. Five Star Customer Service! Monday August 5, my AC went out at 9pm; I called a company that I thought was local and offered 24/7 service. They were no longer local (sold to a major corporation) and the service was less then desirable. The next day I called Fox Service. Brian, arrive at my home in 2 hours later. He checked my entire system; then show me what was wrong with each one part of it. He provided me with options to repair or replace; again, he explained each one in detail. Freon was being phased out and any repair would have to be replaced with Puron in the next few years. I decided to replace. Brian made some phone calls and was able to get a hold of Mark; the AC project manager and he could squeeze me in between appointments. Mark arrives at 11:30 or so; he too is very through and checks each system again and provides me with a detailed estimate of three replacement units to choose from. I decide on a Bryant unit; however, my biggest concern is when can it be installed. To my amazement he says tomorrow; Bryant has a local distributor right here in Texas . At 9:00 am the next day, They arrive to install the unit. They showed me the units they are installing and started to work. When the installation was complete Rodney walked me through my new system. He showed me the furnace, the coils and the outside compress and provided me with regular maintenence tips. The new installation was even better then the original; he padded the floor to reduced to noise. They cleaned up everything; vacuumed the carpet were they were working, there was no signs that a major repair had even taken place; they were that good! My sincerest thanks to everyone that made this happen; Fox Service will also be my first choice for any type of service; every person I came in contact with was a seasoned employee and loved the company they work for. Been trying to cool my west facing garage for some years, trying fans, vents and all sorts of stuff and finally came to the conclusion that I needed to put A/C in there. After doing some research, I figured that a mini-split unit would do the job and so started looking around. Spookily enough, a Fox ad appeared in my Facebook timeline, so I called up and spoke to Cary Weaver. He couldn't have been more helpful and during his visit to review my needs, advised on placement etc. Within a matter of hours, I had a proposal for a Mitsubishi mini-split system in my inbox and an hour or so after that, another proposal taking into account a nice rebate! It was very convenient for me to communicate via email and Cary was quick to respond. Upon acceptance of the proposal, installation was scheduled within a matter of days. The electrical guy arrived (sorry, don't recall the name), discussed placement of the install and next thing he was done, nice neat installation. Evan and Kenneth (hope I recalled the name correctly) arrived to do the install of the unit. I went through my view of the install with them and they listened and asked questions such as 'do you want the unit centrally located on the wall'. These guys were professionals, they didn't just turn up to install the system their way and leave. I was looking for a very discrete install and asked that the lines for the unit be run through the attic space over the garage and they just got on with it. They stayed till past 6PM to ensure that everything was complete to my satisfaction and it sure was, 100%. Great job guys, thanks! I recently bought an older house that needed an update to the electric box so I researched several companies online and had them come out to provide quotes. I knew an update wouldn't be cheap, but had no idea the quotes were going to be so high. The first three companies were quoting around 5-6 thousand including materials. And one even quoted an extra $900 if they had to dig the holes for the ground rods. Luckily a colleague told me about Fox Service. They were super friendly over the phone and responded in a timely manner. No waiting around for several days or weeks for a follow up. I was contacted within the hour for an appointment and the electrician was out the next day. Brandon B. showed up and was extremely helpful, professional, and knowledgable from the get go. He had detailed explanations for all my questions and was very friendly. I understand this business has a sales side to it, but Brandon didn't need it. Given that he was honest and knew what he was doing was enough for me, plus they were thirty percent cheaper than the competition. Brandon B. and Trevor S. showed up a few weeks later to complete the job. Everything was done while I was at work. Installation, clean up, communication, etc was top notch. They even provided some recommendations on other areas of the house that need updating(A/C vent and can light installation). I can't say enough about Fox Service, Brandon, and Trevor. As an HVAC technician in serving the Austin area for the better part of the last decade, I was always impressed with Fox. They hired smart techs and did quality work. It was hard to not be impressed with them when they were my competition. That says a lot, to have the respect of their rivals. I was given the chance to work with them and I jumped at the opportunity to attach my name and reputation to this company. I turned down several other offers, including a higher paying one for a position similar to the one I currently hold. I am not bragging, it's merely an attempt to shine a light on how excited I was to sign on with this company. They have been around town a LOT longer than most other popular companies on Yelp. You don't last this long without being one of the best. Several months down the road being on the inside and I am still impressed. This is a company that cares; both about its customers and its people. They also give back to the community, recently they raised over $15,000 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have used Fox Service before and was satisfied, but in this request for service on my A/C, they ruined any chance of me ever calling them again. Called at 6 PM on Friday afternoon because A/C was out, and house temp had climed to 88 degrees (outside temps above 105). They advised that the after hours service charge would apply. At that point, I didn't mind paying the $143 service charge. The technician called at 6:40 PM, and said that he had been slammed with 7 people in front of me, and I could expect a wait of at least 5 hours. I asked if he really was planning on doing a service call at midnight. I was going to cancel, but he convinced me to stay in the rotation in case someone cancelled. At 12:30 AM, he called. Said he was in South Austin and would be at my house in 30 minutes. I told him to head my way. He then asked if I was okay with the overtime rate. I said you mean the after hours charge? He said that plus overtime rate of $120 an hour. I was now looking at a $300 bill just to have him show up. Since I had called 6.5 hours earlier, and they were the reason for this late night call, I told him to forget it. Next morning at 8:30 AM, I get woke up by some customer service person wanting to know if I still wanted them to come out. Told her that they had lost any chance of me offering work to them again. I will roast in my house before I ever call Fox Service after this fiasco. read more

One of my Air Conditioning units died during the winter, and we noticed it with the first warm weather. I called Fox since I have a Priority One Service Plan with them and they came out the next day. Unfortunately, my 14 year old system needed to be replaced. The project manager, Cary, came out a few days later (when we could coordinate with my schedule) and checked out the whole system. He told me he'd email me a complete proposal that evening, and it was in my Inbox as promised. He gave me 3 different choices, with all the information I needed to decide. They also offered financing @ 0% interest. He gave me the EXACT amount for the replacement, so I knew precisely what I was doing. He called the next day, and schedule the work for the very next day. The whole crew was excellent. They got here on time, worked all day, and made sure the system was working properly. They replaced a thermostat and a couple of smoke/carbon monoxide detectors as well. They cleaned up everything and went over the details of the work that was done so I understood it clearly. They will file the paperwork for my Austin Energy rebate and the registration for the Bryant unit. I was very impressed with all their hard work and professional attitude. I lost power at my house due to tree limbs falling on power lines. About 10,000 other Austin residents lost power in the same storm at the same time. Austin Energy restored power but I still had power lines on the ground, so they cut MY power off and informed me that I would need an electrician to make some repairs before my power could be restored. It was about 6pm on a Friday night! I called FOX (never used them before). Within three hours they sent Brad Jones out. He quickly fixed the problem. He even called the next morning just to make sure we had been able to get the power turned by on and didn't have any more problems. When he learned that Austin Energy was now going to require a permit and an inspection he came back to the house and met with the inspector to explain what he had done. The inspector said "good to go, put a green tag on it and called immediately to get our power restored. Brad waited around until power was restored. Before he left he explained that he would get the permit pulled on Monday morning and get back with us. Throughout, he was a pleasure. I think we have found our electician for the future. We will definitely be calling FOX again in the future and requesting Brad, but of course if he is not available we'll gladly accept whoever FOX sends. Thanx Brad AND FOX! read more

I have been a Fox Service customer for almost 10 years. They take care of all my HVAC, electrical and plumbing maintenance. They always provide excellent service and value. I have a very, very, very old Heat Pump. Fox has kept it alive longer than any heat pump should live. I called Fox last Saturday to have someone come out and conduct the semi-annual checkup. Mr. Cody Scrogrum, Senior Technician came out today (Monday) to inspect the system. Cody spent a lot of time checking my equipment and duct work and answering all my questions. Although he probably could have kept it alive a bit longer, I decided to have a new heat pump installed. Cody call Cary Weaver, AC Project Manager, to discuss my options. He arrived within minutes. We selected a high efficiency unit that fits my home and needs. It comes with a great guarantee and 0% financing. Fox will be here tomorrow to install it. Not bad for Christmas Week. After getting quotes from some other companies, I chose Fox Service to replace my entire HVAC system. My salesperson, Cary, explained a few options (with and without Austin Energy (AE) incentives), and provided good information for my review. I ended up having Fox complete all of the recommended AE improvements. Cary coordinated pre and post install inspections with AE which made that process hassle-free. He worked to get me the best deal on a quality Bryant system (Bryant, AE and Texas Gas rebates, etc).. Even with the AE improvements, the total project price was a good value compared to some of the quotes I received from other companies for lesser systems. Rodney, the lead installer, is exceptional. He is meticulous and does not compromise on quality. The guys in charge of the AE improvements (Chris and Willie) were also very knowledgeable and professional. Rounding out the team were Shelton, Juan and Erwin who also did a great job. I was impressed that the guys explained various components and processes and showed me their work throughout the installation. Fox was excellent from beginning to end. We want to thank everyone that was involved in helping us get our central air working on 8-6-13. Our air conditioning went our at 6:00 AM. We smelled burning and the unit cut it's self off. I called fox and told them my problem. We had company visiting and the temperature was going to be over a 100 that day. Jason told me they were booked solid, but he would put me on the list to be the first if someone cancelled. He said for sure we would be one of the first for the next morning. Later that day I received a call about 2:00 telling me that someone was on the way. Brett Stephens came out and worked very hard to get out system up and running. The cause was a burned out motor. He called around and found one in stock, fixed our air conditioner and it was back working by 6:00 that afternoon. We have been a customer of Fox for a long time and I have never been disappointed with the service, friendliness and over all knowledge of everyone that has come out to help us. Our experience with Fox has been nothing short of outstanding every time we call. The professionalism of their team is without equal. They are not going to cut corners -- ever! And while I read comments about cost in these reviews, the reality is that there are plenty of low quality cheap companies out there. But when it comes to the systems in your home, your best bet for value is Fox. My A/C went out on Saturday morning, and Fox had someone there within just a few hours. With a 17 year old system I elected to replace it. Their sales consultant, Mark, was there on Monday, and the new system was completely up and running by Tuesday evening. The installation team, led by Rodney, was respectful, diligent, and stayed until the job was done right. Finally I have to add that not only did they leave the work area in our house cleaner than they found it, they picked up the dog poop around the work area in the back yard just to make sure they did not track it into the house -- SERIOUSLY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Mr. Carlos Gonzales was the service technician assigned to do my new (June 2014) A/C/Heating system's heat check. I received a call much earlier than expected and was offered the earlier time although I was then at an appointment across town. The person calling was gracious and said that my tech would arrive as previously scheduled, but I would still receive a call 30" prior to arrival, which I did. Mr. Gonzales was courteous, identified himself prior to entering the house, was a wealth of information about my system. He explained in advance what he would be checking and how he would be doing it. Step by step he checked in with me explaining at which stage he was at. I could not be more pleased with this appointment. It represents another superb example of customer service which is not always found in large operations nor in service companies, in my past experience. He knew his stuff, explained it to me in language that made sense without making me feel like a feeble old crone. Fox came out to our home to inspect and repair some electrical work that was done improperly by another, independent electrician. Wow, are we glad that we called Fox! Robert C. immediately identified all of the issues and explained to us what the problems were and how to fix them. It was frightening to know many of the lights in our home were not up to code, but Robert put us at ease when explaining how they would fix everything. The tech that came to do the actual repair work was Timothy H. and he was fantastic as well. When he was done with the repairs, he showed my husband all of the work up in the attic so that we could understand exactly how he fixed everything, and to also reassure us that our home was now safe. Lesley accompanied both of the techs on the visits and was also very helpful and courteous. All three of the Fox technicians that came to our home were professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. We used Fox Service to install new AC/heating duct work and do weatherization on our 31 year old house. From start to finish we have been very pleased with the work done. Joseph Tice did the initial evaluation and formed a plan to update and upgrade a deteriorating duct system. He did an exceptional job coordinating with Austin Energy to qualify us for their PowerSaver program offering rebates on work done. Joseph is highly professional, was responsive to our needs, and was very thorough. The team he sent to our home was equally impressive and we would like to give a shout out to Chris, Willy, Juan and Shelton. We have had many service technicians do work on various projects at our home through the years but this team was by far the best. They were efficient with their time, seemed quite knowledgeable, were conscientious and respectful. They did a great job cleaning up after the work was done too! I've been a Fox customer for nearly three years for their plumbing and AC & Heating services. They've consistently proven to be a very reliable, professional, and responsive company. They've done everything from replace our sewer line to the street, performed yearly inspections on the HVAC unit, installing a water shut off valve at the street, and replacing bathroom faucets. But yesterday, I was wowed! At 1:30 p.m., I realized the AC wasn't working. It was nearly 100 degrees outside and the house was getting hot, fast! I immediately called Fox. They had a technician over at 2:15 that same SATURDAY afternoon and fixed it within the hour. And they actually had the part for the old Bryant unit on their van. The technician was very professional, as have all of their technicians over the years. Scheduling is always a breeze and the prices are fair. I strongly recommend Fox for all your service needs.
