Food and service is pretty good, but charges extra if you use credit card. Between Tax, Meals Tax, asking for Tip when you just take my order, and now restaurants coming up with this credit card tax makes it not worth going to these types of restaurants that enlist tip and credit card fee on the consumer. I will give them credit, they at least don't try to hide the credit card additional charge. They have many signs warning you. read more

Foster's has been my family's go-to burger spot for almost a decade now and for good reason. I love this location for the open seating and big windows. I've always had great interactions with the staff and everyone is very friendly. The chargrilled patties are cooked perfectly, enough to get that nice crust and still keep the meat inside juicy. I love that you get to customize your toppings and they make it easy with the paper pads to mark your order. Even the fries are awesome, well seasoned and they've got malt vinegar on the tables to really take it to the next level. The little burger is a little dry compared to the regular charburger so I tend not to go that route. Sometimes I order the half fries. I still haven't tried the onion rings or wings, but they both look and smell amazing. I have never had less than great service. Yes, sometimes it takes longer than others, that's the nature of this kind of business. One time they forgot my pickles. That's the extent of incorrect orders. They happily gave them to me when I asked. Their cheese steak is one of the best I've had and their fries are the bomb. I love the hot dog, dont' love the bun it's served in, but that's pretty minor. Home of the charburger. Make sure you understand what that means. Your burger patty will be flamed. There are areas of the burger that are charred. I only mention this because not everyone likes the charred patty. I love grilled burgers but too much char and it can ruin it. The ordering system with your own ticket is unique and cuts down on he said/she said debates about how your food was ordered. Service has always been friendly and usually the food comes out pretty quickly. I dislike the upcharge for cheese. I also think the cost of the upcharges are a little high. I am not a fan of their fries. They are similar to Five Guys and I think they are limp and greasy. The upcharge for a side salad is high and if you want to add chili and cheese to the fries the upcharge is high. I like to have a beer with my burger but the basket price includes a soda. Instead of knocking $.50 off the beer instead of giving you the soda they charge full price. Overall, it is a good burger joint and when you want a non-fast food burger it will do nicely. read more

I do like the char burgers here, but the cooking is inconsistent. For example, the fries are very dark or very light, but all are soggy and have no salt. Normally I'm a brown bagger but on this Thursday I joined my colleagues for lunch at Foster's. This was my first visit here and probably only my second ever at any Foster's. We arrived right at noon and found a short line to order. Well, you fill out your paper order first before getting in line. I'm not a fan of this as it seems wasteful and the paper order forms are across the store from the big picture menu on the wall. After ordering, we got a number for our table and had a wait of ten minutes before our orders started appearing. They didn't all come out at the same time which I don't like. I feel obligated to wait until everyone gets something while my food gets cold. Fortunately it was only another minute or two before we all had our meals. At this point you might be thinking that's a lot of whinage above for a four star rating. Well my meal was awesome. I had the smaller size burger with tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mustard and grilled onions and a half side of fries. It was served in a plastic basket and halfway through finishing it, I realized my friends had pulled the wax paper out of the basket and made it into a place mat for easy access to everything. I felt like a noob. Anyway, my burger was fresh and tasty. The bun was soft and the grilled onions a nice alternative to raw ones that would have stayed with me for most of the afternoon. The fries were equally delicious and a generous portion with no need to order the full basket. If I wasn't going back to work, I might have enjoyed a beer there instead of tap water. I would say if you don't like the burgers here, it is because you don't know how you like your burger! You choose exactly what you want on it and how the burger is cooked. So let's move on. You go to Fosters for a burger and fries. If beer is your thing they got a nice selection there as well, even some nice crafts. Two things I like most about this place. I have never seen it too busy and their fries. Fosters knows how to do French fries. If you don't know the answer is you make them from a real friggen potato, not a frozen plastic bag from the freezer. If your a New Englander like me, they have vinegar readily available. To any person in the English-speaking world, fish and chips means fish and something, usually french fries. Their menu shows a picture of fish and fries over "Fish & Chips". Merriam-Webster even defines fish and chips as fish and french fried potatoes. But at Foster's Grill they literally told me that "and chips" doesn't mean anything, it just means fish. Typically the service is outstanding. Uncertain what has changed. Today my wife called and was placed on hold and hung up and recalled over a half hour time period. She called me And mentioned they must be busy. When I arrived there was one family waiting for their order and another couple eating. There was a regular staff complement. The typical management staff was not in eye site. I am hopeful my order is correct and the quality of food has not gone down hill. Had lunch here today - was the first time visiting this Foster's location. This location is pretty popular! On a Sunday afternoon - there were 20 or so folks in line in front of me. Ordered the Grilled Hot Dog - with everything: mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, chili, and cheese, comes with a side of fries and got a lemonade to go with it. I sat at the bar and waited - took a little over 15 minutes for my food to come up - but they were cranking out a lot of food! I snagged a knife and fork - I've learned from eating these in the past - that if I don't want to wear half the toppings and get them all over my hands - best to cut it up into manageable bites and devour it that way. The dog was moist and delicious - seemed a tad on the salty side - but not so much so that it detracted from the overall experience. As regulars at Foster's will know - they offer Malt Vinegar as a condiment. I can't remember the last time I've eaten fries doused with it - so I gave the fries a good soaking. On 10/29/21 I placed a order for pick-up at Foster's Grill in Bristow. While placing the order for several burgers I was asked if I wanted drinks with the order. I indicated that I did not. I asked if fries were included with the burger and was told "yes". When I arrived to pick up and pay for my order I inquired about the price I was being charged not matching the price on the menu. I was told that since I did not order "the basket" which included drinks I had to pay the higher per item price for fires and a salad. Hum...doesn't seem to clearly state that on the "to go" menu! When I arrived home (4 - 5 minute drive) my wife informed me the fries were ice cold. So I was charged a considerably higher price for my order and the fires were cold! Been here twice now and had the 1/4lb hot dog. First went after the chili cheese dog. The chili completely missed the mark. Not a fan. Figured this time around I'd go with a classic ketchup, mustard, onion and relish. How you manage to fundamentally screw that up is beyond me. Dog looked naked. Lifted it out if the bun and saw two drops of ketchup and mustard and sliced onions underneath. Condiments soaked into the bun. No relish. Who hides toppings under a hot dog? Make sure the employee confirms your order- I called and placed an order over the phone. The employee made an error and forgot one of my meals (not the end of the world). Poor customer service- when I arrived and the error was discovered the remedy was for me to wait an additional 15 min for the last burger to be prepared while the remaining items in my order got cold (fries, other burgers) and a milkshake to melt. Totally dissatisfied with how this was handled. No offer to remake the order or to store the food to keep it warm/cold. Overall food quality was average burger place. Let me start by saying, I Love Fosters. This one however is terrible. After a number of bad visits, because it is the closest to me, I have called it quits. Today I got cold, hard fries. When I called in the lady said "no they are made to order and I don't know what you want me to do for you" Clearly they were made fresh yesterday. I'm sorry, if you're in customer service the response is "I'm so sorry, would you like to come back and get fresh ones?" I will also add that I placed my order and waited for it... there is no reason I got cold hard fries. I guess I'll eat the hamburger that likely was made yesterday also and not complain. I will not visit this location again. Then! To top it off I called back to tell her the hamburgers were cold and to talk to manager and she is the manager! In a brand new shopping center between Nokesville Road and Vint Mill Road, this is a Five Guys with hot dogs - except the service is worse. My wife and I went there in need of a good bite to eat, and while the food was okie, the service was "do it yourself" and "delivered to your table, when we get to it, and maybe it's as you ordered it." After waiting 20 minutes for our order to get cooked, the three waiters, two cooks and manager finally got around to taking care of the business at hand and brought our burger and hot dog to the table. The burger came with cheese, even though I had ordered it without - but I was able to peel the "American food cheese product slice" from the burger without ruining it. The fries and the unlimited sodas were pretty good - but I am not planning a return visit anytime soon. I suspect the Red Robin up Rt 234 next to the Target will give this place a run for the money. Bottom line: Really need to take the place up a notch before it gets my interest again. Good for a burger and a hot dog, but not much else. read more

This place is a lot like Five Guys, except you place your order on a piece of paper, you give it to the cashier and then pay. Another difference is that this place offers, wings, beer, and ice cream, something that Five Guys does not. Your food is brought to your table waiter style, they bring it to the number you're assigned when you wait. I got a burger with fries and a drink. The burger is a tad well-done, but good. I guess that's chargrilled for you. Plus, the bun it comes on is nice and buttery. The fries I think while good, are way too salty. If they toned it down, the fries would be good. But you just feel the salt. I had to keep drinking water in hopes I could flush some of it out. I recommend this place over other fast food burger joints. Disgusting. This is the second time I've been at this location and will not be back. Ordered 10 boneless wings and asked that they be extra crispy. When I got home from picking up my order I was disappointed to say the least. Not only were the wings not crispy, they were completely lacking any breading. The food here is pretty good. I especially like the burgers and wings. Staff is friendly, and you definitely get that local feel. Sometimes when I enter the restaurant, there is some local high school event. Whenever I eat here, I fill up quickly, but not in that nauseating way, unlike a fast food joint, such as Five Guys or McDonald's. If you ever stop by Foster's, also try their milkshakes. The employees are helpful, the food is cooked fresh and it is quite yummy! Once you understand that you fill out your order on a slip of paper, it's quite easy. You get exactly what you want, how you want it prepared. It does take a little while to come out, but that's because it's cooked fresh, so it's worth it. I had not eaten at Foster's Grill in years. Probably 5 or 6 years at least. This is a place that is very close to home too. The reason I hadn't eaten there was that the impression I had of the place was that it was dirty. I remember seeing a grease residue over by the soda machines and the video games. After a few mediocre meals there we wrote the place off. Today I was trying to figure out what to eat, and I saw that the place was still in business. Thought I might as well give them another chance. I had forgotten about their convoluted menu ordering system. That didn't take too long to figure out. I ordered a half pound hamburger and some french fries. The price was $10.30 or so. The food came quickly and tasted good. The meat isn't as flavorful as Five Guys, but it's pretty good. The fries were a little soggy, definitely not as good as Five Guys, but they were edible and hot. I liked the flavor of the jalapenos on the hamburger. The restaurant seemed clean and grease free. The rest room was clean from what I could tell. I only washed my hands in their. That hamburger was messy. :-) All in all, a pleasant experience. My only quibble is that I wonder why some restaurants serve Pibb Extra instead of Dr Pepper. Pibb is not an acceptable replacement. read more

The ordering process is a bit complicated. When you come into the restaurant you initially want to stand in line, but you need to go up to the counter to get a ticket to write out your order (one for each person). The order forms look straight forward, but are just as confusing as the ordering process. They seem to make everything fresh and the food is great. The burgers are made close to well done, and their onion rings are huge, crispy and tasty. Be prepared if you order a milk shake, they bring it before your food arrives....weird to me. The decor is dated and dusty but there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (the outdoor seating is next to the road and parking lot, but has a small gate surrounding it). They use this paper system I find just a big waste of time. You fill the paper out then the guy goes over the said paper with you marking over everything you just marked with blue ink. I just don't see the point. The serve was really bad the drink fountain and condiments area was a mess. The food was ok nothing really special.
