Awesome down-to-earth place with a very homely vibe. I made the trip to VA for some quality time with my BL who lives about 5 mins away from Public. We decided on brunch and hit this spot. Stopped in for lunch at the Public House. I had the tips sandwich with mushrooms, onions, and Swiss. It was delicious on a soft fluffy roll. I got fried Brussels sprouts as a side and they were delicious too. My hubby had the Rueben and it was very good! He liked the shaved corned beef. The fries were good too. I had the Strawberry Fields forever and it was perfect, not too sweet. My husband had the spicy Bloody Mary and enjoyed it. The server was friendly and helpful. Came here after rock climbing cause they had some food the kids would eat... the dining room was empty when we arrived (a few people at the bar) and the server put some tables together for our group of six (three kids). It took a while for the server to come (we were ready to at least order apps and drinks right away)... finally took our appetizer order and then disappeared... our chili nachos came out pretty quickly but we had polished off the entire plate before the sever came back to take our orders (two drinks were also empty) before drinks being refilled and an order being taken. We ordered kids grilled cheese, kids burger, kids chicken fingers, salmon frittata, Greek burger, and chicken and waffles... the server opted not to write the orders down which made me nervous based on the inattentiveness of our server... but hoped for the best.... When our food came out it was quite wrong... we ended up with two kids burgers, chicken tenders, chicken and waffles, Greek burger, and veggie frittata... we were missing the grilled cheese and the frittata was incorrect... so we opted to just cancel the frittata and send the incorrect one back because it took so long to try and waive someone down to help correct our order. My Greek burger came out with no tzatziki sauce(and took asking three people to get), the grilled cheese took a while to come out too so we asked for it to be boxed up and our check. I hope this was a one off thing because this place seemed to have a good menu... but based on our experience we won't be back and I can't recommend it as a place for other people. For what we paid we could've dined at a much nicer establishment with quality food. I ordered a "melt" which wasn't a melt at all it was just an unseasoned burger with nasty beer cheese. The French onion soup was some of the worst I've ever had. All the food lacked flavor. Everything was bland. The best part of the meal was the frozen fries that was served with it. Ordered a orange creamsicle margarita - it was decent , but was rimmed with salt and orange zest when it truly should've been sugar. That's just my opinion as a bartender myself. Destiny, our waiter, was great - fast with orders, gave recommendations, cleared items quickly. We had the poutine to start - very good! We ordered the wings, the Mac and cheese entree and a kids meal pizza. The flavors were all good, but every food item needed a few more minutes of cooking. The restaurant was 1/2 empty so it wasn't because the kitchen was slammed. The wings were on the rare side. The onion rings were limp. The Mac and cheese had pieces of undercooked bacon in it. The kid's "pizza" was a pita bread. It is too bad that the food didn't match the ambiance or quality of service. My son had a cheeseburger ($10.50) and a side of kids Mac & cheese (without the roasted onions and smoked bacon - kids - what do they know). I love this place. I've only been here twice and only had two things (plus beer). Their signature burger is awesome. One of my favorite takes on a burger around NoVa. And their Brussel sprouts are also quite tasty. I've had a different server each time. In fact, table service with the wife once and then solo at the bar. Service was top shelf both times. I suppose the decor could be better, but if they knock it out of the park on the two most important parts of the experience, I can honestly say I don't care so much about the decorations. The other aspect of hanging here is the local feel. I can't say whether or not people are actually local or not, but if they are I want to move to Manassas. Truly a great place to eat. read more

Came here to celebrate the high school graduation ‍ of my youngest niece. Last one to graduate in our extended family - technically she is our grand niece or daughter of our niece. Staff was friendly and helpful. Burgers are good. No gluten free bread option. Anything fried is in soybean oil and there is cross contamination. But I liked the burger - I had the double decker. And the area is very nice to walk around. You can actually buy a drink to go and walk around with the drink in this area. Not a great place for gluten-free folks but otherwise seems fun. read more

We really enjoyed this restaurant and our friends from out of town really liked it too. It was a Saturday, parking, no fault of restaurant, was not easy due to an event in town. We were able to find free parking on a residential street and walked about 10 minutes to the restaurant. It was a nice day, so the walk felt good. We sat outside and the weather was just right. We were enjoying the company of friends we had not seen in awhile and the servers were patient with us as we took our time ordering. I had mussels sautéed with bacon jalapeño and the Gouda mac and cheese. Both items were tasty and I would order again. After trekking out to Manassas for their Farmers Market we decided to roam around the quaint old downtown. While there are plenty of cute small restaurants, and an abundance of breweries, the Public House looked most inviting. A nice patio streetside, on a slow one way, in nice weather is quite enjoyable. A large beer selection, including their own craft brews look enticing, but as we had a drive home we had to skip those libations. The Mediterranean Plat is a beautiful and plentiful sampler with tons of Olives, a great home made hummus, roasted peppers, pickled artichokes, olive oil, cucumbers and 2 types of bread (pita & French loaf). The Thai Scallops were delish, with noodles, green onions and crisps. the Scallops were just about perfect, but there are only 3 so it goes fast. Very attentive service for a small place that was busy. On our next trip out here we will definitely be back. read more

The Mrs. and I took a trip out to Manassas to meet our friends for dinner at a place called Public House Kitchen and Brewery, located on Battle Street. First of all it does not have its own parking, so you will be looking for a spot on the street. If that doesn't scare you off, you'll be treated to a very fun tavern. The dining room is not what you'd call large, so expect some noise on weekend nights. We were shown to the last open table on this Saturday night by a very nice server. My wife started with a Public House Winter Amber Lager, which she really liked. I went a bit darker, with a Public House Darkness. It too was outstanding. It was quite smooth, and the chocolate came through. As an appetizer we had the Candied Bacon. This was basically thick cut slabs of bacon with a smoky maple syrup glaze. Decent, but kind of heavy. For dinner, my wife had muscles. She reported it to be good, standard muscles in a garlic broth. I had salmon with mashed potatoes and fried Brussel Sprouts. The salmon was very good, only the Brussel Sprouts had quite a number of loose leaves, and not just whole Sprouts. The service was extraordinary, and the dining room, though a bit tight, was really fun with a number of very interesting light fixtures. Definately a place we'd go back to again, especially to sample more of their beer. read more
