Upon entering the restaurant, first impressions is the elegant yet homey style of the interior. They had a small breakfast buffet setup however we preferred ordering from the menu. I ordered nachos & pupusas meanwhile my wife ordered some sort of seafood soup (we forgot the name but she said was very tasteful). They brought fair plate of chips & salsa which made me think that was my order of nachos but immediately I was thinking that this portion was not worth the cost BUT they proved me wrong by bringing in the order of nachos with toppings which was well worth the pricing. I wanted to try this place and went with my family 2 weeks ago. We arrived at 8pm (restaurant closed at 10pm that day). The young lady that served us seemed to not know what she was doing. When asked about specifics from the menu she didn't know. In English or Spanish she seemed to not understand what we wanted. Spoke very soft you could barely hear her. Food was ok pasta overcooked. Dined here for a birthday dinner at the recommendation of a friend. Called ahead to see if they would be open at 9:30 as we were coming all the way from Tysons. They graciously accommodated us, even though we arrived at 9:45, and provided exemplary service. Our server was attentive and kind, going above and beyond to ensure my daughter had a wonderful birthday dinner. What's more, the server brought in a delightful tres leches from the adjacent bakery, which I highly recommend. The family-oriented nature of the staff and the faith-based music playing softly in the background made our family feel welcome from the moment we entered. My S.O. ordered the Don Jose's Steak Sandwich and I got the Pollo Al Horno. Both dishes were excellent and they were gigantic portions. The chicken I had was so flavorful and juicy. The chicken was a steal for $15, you got a half a chicken cooked to perfection and it came with a side salad and rice (but I subbed the rice for brussels sprouts which were so tasty). My S.O. loved his steak sandwich which came with fries. Service staff were great, a few different people stopped by to check on us. They were almost overly attentive but they really just wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes. The menu is quirky with typical kind of diner foods mixed in with a few Latin American dishes. Prices are on par with sit down nicer places in the area. Service was very nice though it was just us at 12:00. I had a salad and the birria taco which was overcooked for my tastes (outside was burned) and the broth needed salt but the salsa was delicious. Salad was pretty decent with a nice portion of chicken and a few sprinkles of cheese and pecans. Dressing was tasty but it's very thin and pooled at the bottom so there is a sogginess alert to be made there though the kale and Brussels stood up well at lunch. We shall see with the left overs for tonight. We also tried the bakery. Flan is enough for two at least. Delicious! Super sweet as to be expected. Pineapple upside down cake: A miss. Cake is dryish and there is an overpowering taste of cinnamon. No carmelized crust on the pineapple. They serve lavazza coffee for those interested. I might go back but not any time soon. read more

Came here starving and Don Jose delivered me from hunger. 2nd location with an attached bakery to satisfy my dinner cravings with my family. The fam was on a seafood kick and I was craving steak. Each meal was delightfully tasteful and full of flavor. The shrimp entrees came with buff shrimp and large accompanying sides that went home with us and filled our bellies for next day lunch. My wife and I walked in the door expecting a south of the border menu only to find they have a good variety of everything - steaks, seafood, pastas, salads, tacos... you name it. We have been there several times and find the food and service are very good. I cannot express how genuinely nice everyone is and that alone is reason enough to give them a try. While not inexpensive, the prices are fair and we receive generous portions. Word of warning, once you have the plantains as a complementary appetizer, you are hooked. Don't say I didn't warn you. But that is a good thing! There is a bakery located at the entrance and, while not officially part of the restaurant, it is affiliated and is a nice bonus. Recommended! read more

Outstanding food with a full bakery right next door, what could be better!?!?!? I ordered the rainbow trout that is covered in lobster sauce, the penne jambalaya and a chicken appetizer and everything was spot on, and absolutely fantastic. The flavors are really something, and the size of the portions was large and on the generous side. Everything was wonderful, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing so the hype is real and I will definitely be back. The open concept for the restaurant is refreshing it's extremely clean and the customers were just as friendly as the staff. The service was fast and prompt. They continue to ask if we needed anything. It was absolutely wonderful. Then the food comes out and the presentation was amazing and considering how quickly they served it. MANASSAS'S BEST KEPT LATIN-FUSION SECRET I took my family of four (with two teens) on a Friday night to Don Jose's for the first time. We love Spanish/Latin food, and we were delighted! The dining room is beautiful with tall ceiling and warm lighting. The wait staff was friendly and considerate, and the chef/owner even came by to say hello. The menu reads a bit like a diner, with a variety of international and domestic dishes. I recommend the Flayed Tilapia and the Churrasco Steak. I was impressed all over again. "Don Jose's Kitchen" is very clean with a nice atmosphere, the service was excellent both times - with a different server each time, and the food was really really good!!!!.
