Staff was very friendly and attentive. We tried the nachos- huge portion and very good!! Garnachas were a bit small and dry tasting but overall were good. Will definitely come back, want to try more things on the menu!

Lunch today was something new - I had no idea what cuisine Cuna Del Sol was - but I was ready for a new culinary experience! When I walked in for a late lunch - the first response ringing through my brain was "jackpot!" I was the only Caucasian person in the joint. Everyone else was some flavor or Hispanic/Latino. Which is usually an indicator that the local ethnic population thinks the food is pretty good. Cuna Del Sol it turns out - is a Guatemalan restaurant. I sat down and scanned the menu - the first item I wanted to try - the "Tortitas De Carne" - they were out of for the day. So I explained to my waitress Mary - that I had never had Guatemalan cuisine - and that I wanted to select something off the menu that was closer to authentic (they had some American and Mexican offerings on the menu and I did not want to pick one of those). So Mary recommended I try the "Plato Tipico": 2 tacos, 2 pastelitos de papa, 2 garnachas, 1 chile relleno, served with refried beans, salad, and fresh homemade cheese. And I added a glass of water with a wedge of lime and a Corona with a wedge of lime. First Mary brought out a very small basket of chips and a side of salsa. However, I was not phased by the relative paucity of chips as I did not want to fill up on chips. I ate the quantity that was brought to me - but I did add a good bit of the red hot sauce that was on the table to the salsa - the salsa was relatively bland. My food came out and it all looked pretty yummy. I knew there was no way I was going to be able to eat the whole thing - it was a good bit of food. I ended up eating one taco, one pastelitos de papa, and one garnacha, plus the Chile relleno, the cole slaw, and part of the pickled cabbage side they brought me. Food was all good - particularly the Chile relleno, nothing to spicy - I added hot sauce to everything after tasting each item. Meal was $10.95 without the beer. I would definitely come back here again!

Cuna Del Sol: Crib of the Sun? Really?...Really?? Not a 'staring' experience for lunch today. I had read several reviews and almost went here a time or two since moving to Manassas. Not a very good lunch experience but I'm not going to slam them too bad because my server, Sayra was very nice. I wanted some Sopa De Pollo, it's on the menu but this entree comes with chicken on the side. I just wanted the soup & Sayra said it would be no problem. It came with chicken livers, not a single bit of real chicken meat. The broth was tasty, there were lots of potatoes & carrots and flavored with cilantro. I ordered the Tacos Del Sol. Never have I had tacos like this. They looked more like enchiladas. There was no way to pick them up. WTF? Tacos you eat with a fork...please!!! The chicken was all dark meat...C'mon man! The tortillas were supposed to be flour but they had a mushy & mealy texture and flavor. I basically just ate the chicken. It came with rice, guacamole & lettuce on the plate. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, that's the best I can say about their 'tacos'. I also ordered sweet tea, it was clear that it wasn't fresh brewed, in fact it was more like tea syrup and not very good. The soup was $10 bucks and the tacos were another $10. Not really what I expected for that kind of money.... $22 bucks... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!! I sat at the bar so I could watch the Rose Bowl Parade on their HD TV. It was fun. it was festive, lot's of color...mostly red. Then somebody turned on the house sound system... spanish radio playing Christmas music. Felize Nuevo Ano Amigos! Change the calendar...right...the Mayan one. I doubt I will try this place again as there are way too many other options in this town.

Even if I knew that Cuna del sol is pricey we go there often, so last night we went and I order chiles rellenos to go and to my disgusting surprise this morning when I was about to enjoy my chiles I found a hair inside also was burn parts sooo disappointed and 4 dollars each

Bakery: I was in a time pinch and Cuna had the perfect cake for me! The manager greeted me nicely and the employee was so helpful. The tres leches cake was delicious!

    Tres leches birthday cake.

5 stars only for the bakery side. I've bought baked goods here before and I've been pleased with all the products all for a good price. A few days ago I bought a birthday cake from there and I was very surprised to find the price, usually tres leches cakes are pricey, the young lady who assisted me was very attentive and was taking all precautions against Covid. I loved her customer service skills. From now on I will only buy my birthday cakes from here. Unfortunately I can't say the same thing from the restaurant side, the food is not bad but you have to wait a while for the food to arrive and sometimes the service is rude.

Food: Tried the shrimp cocktail (shrimp, avocado, tomato,…read morechili, and onion), birria sope, beef gordita, and birria tacos. Everything was flavorful and fresh. My favorites were definitely the birria tacos and the sope. Price: 3 birria tacos for $12 -- pretty fair pricing for the portion and quality. Atmosphere: Very packed, which is usually a good sign, but still nice and organized. Plenty of seating and the restaurant was decorated really well. Family-friendly atmosphere too. Service: Customer service was great and everyone was friendly and helpful. Overall: Good food, fair prices, lots of options, and a nice environment. Definitely would come back!

We drove out of our way to try this place and honestly it was a bit confusing to figure out where to order. There are two lines and it's not very clear which one we are supposed to get in for what. Especially because some of the items are duplicate on both menus. I noticed there was barely anyone in the "restaurant" line. Anyway, we sort of got a little bit of everything and wasn't completely brown away. I liked that they let you add your own toppings, and all of the sauces that have available were great. But the taco meats all sort of lacked a bit of flavor. Carnitas are my favorite but these were a bit inconsistent. Some pieces were very nice and juicy where others were hard to chew. I will say the place is very clean and spacious. They're pretty quick with your order as well. The food was lacking flavor for me personally. Overall, I don't think I would go back.

WHAT I ATE - VIRGINIA @ Cactus Bar & Grill…read moreManassas, VA A facebook group had offered a tip where we stumbled on this "tacquiza", a Mexican buffet style taco party held Fridays at the Cactus Bar and Grill. Unlimited made-to-order tacos! Buffet is perhaps not the best description as is connotes trays of pre-made food. In fact, everything is made to order in front of you and you take your order and dress is up to your liking at the Salsa Bar which includes everything you need to your liking. Whether you prefer "Americano" style or Mexican style fixings. You have a choice of tacos that includes; Carnitas, Buche, Tripa, Camaron, Alambre, Bistec, Chorizo, Birria, Asada, Cueritos, Cochinita Piril, and Nopal con Queso (Cactus with Cheese). Service was quick and the waitstaff are friendly to describe the food items, and quick to take drink orders. My wife adored the Camaron (shrimp) tacos for the plump, tasty shrimp, and the rich, slow cooked Birria, and the very clean Tripa (Beef Intestime). I really enjoyed the Alambre (a mix of steak pastore, ham sausage and peppers) and the Chorizo. I tried the Cactus Paddle with Mexican cheese. It had a unique, tart pickled vegetable flavor, a kind of cross between green pepper, Okra and Japanese seaweed salad type of quality. Unique, and tasty, but not my kinda thing. The Tacquiza is held on Fridays after 4PM, and we found there is a Mexican Brunch buffet that is held on Sundays which we are looking forward to trying! One of the managers came over to check on us and offer menu ideas. Truly, everyone was very nice and welcoming. Decor was festive and cute though the music was a bit on the loud side. My dad got pozole. He loves that dish and loves it spicy. He remarked at the bland taste. My mom got chicken taquitos. She said they were fine, but lacked enough sour cream and there was no guacamole with it. I got Cancun Tacos. It was supposed to have this: Grilled shrimp flour tortilla tacos, baja style, topped with chipotle cole slaw, pico de gallo, guacamole and cheese, served with rice and beans. I just asked them to use corn tortillas, not flour. It took two people 4 conversations to get that clear. What I got was sautéed baby shrimp, iceberg lettuce in a thousand island type dressing and some watery salsa in cold corn tortillas. No cheese or guacamole. Overall, the food was all very bland and overpriced in my opinion. We wanted to try a new place and my parents love Mexican food. The people were lovely and they tried really hard to understand my order. I wish the food had been better.
