Attentive staff. Very lively environment, while everyone is at their respective tables, the restaurant feels like big large family attending supper in someone's home. There's not much rythm or rhyme to what's going on decor wise but you will enjoy some delicious ethnic food prepared with love and care.

"I was impressed that each dish was distinct and flavored perfectly. I had Sambusa which is fried vegetable pastry Wow. Spicy and good spicy. and Beg Wot which is lamb in a spicy Berbere sauce Hot Also had the Sigi Alcha which is beef with onions garlic ginger and turmeric. Pastry's are reason enough to return if you don't like that stuff they also have Italian and American food

Never had Ethiopian food before, and it was a pleasure to have it for the first time at Vera's Kitchen! We had the trio combo and the taste of each item was incredible! Very tasty and filling. I also had a delicious Ethiopian beer and honey wine. Highly recommend for next date night. We will be back again soon!

I cannot vouch for the food as I couldn't eat anything. After taking a few sips of my wine I see there is a roach in it, so I left. Owner was really kind but can't get over a roach.

One of my Crew was highly Gluten sensitive so I set her meal from Vera's Kitchen & she was very pleased. VK's offers Ethiopian food with a heavy dose of light & love. Everyone working extended us peace & blessings on top of their savory food. The menu offers a wide range of healthy fusion recipes (Vegan options) for Breakfast, Sandwiches, Lunch & Dinner with a slight presence of Italian food. They offer Catering & to host Special Events. Vera's Kitchen - Desta. In Amharic, the main language of Ethiopia = Desta means happiness. & that's what we felt with our visit & what she tasted when she ate her Vera's Tibs - Sauteed beef, tomatoes, onions, jalapeno with Injera, or you can choose from Quiona or Rice. Prices are great & the atmosphere is wonderful. I'll be back to dine in & to fully enjoy everything Vera's Kitchen has to offer.

Such a cute little spot in Manassas. I sat at a small, round table, decorated with money from Kenya, Ethiopia and Portugal, among other places. The server was really cool, one of the son's in the family, in town to run the store while, Vera, who must be as lovely as her beef is tender, is away. He recommended the Ginger Boost tea, their specialty and I loved it! I got the lunch portion of the Siga Alicha, a mildly seasoned dish of beef, ginger, garlic and onions. I chose the Injera as my side though you may order it with rice or quinoa if you prefer. That comes with 2 sides, so It was just the right amount for a small eater like me! I had the perfect relaxing Monday lunch here and now I am ready to take on my week!

This was our first time dining at Vera's Kitchen. The food and drinks were excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommend Vera's Kitchen.

    Is indoor dining currently available?

I was there a few weeks ago and it was pick up only. There are a few outdoor tables and a short walk down the street there's the ice skating rink area with several seating areas.

When we finally found ourselves in the area, I was excited to see if it lived up to the hype. We ordered the veggie combo, and it was flavorful and satisfying. What really made this place stand out, though, was the customer service. We ordered takeout, and after getting home about 40 minutes later, we realized part of our order was wrong. I called expecting the usual response--either that I should've checked the bag before leaving or that I'd need to drive back for a replacement. Instead, I got a genuine apology and an offer for a full refund. Since we still had food to eat, I didn't feel right accepting it. They insisted on making it up to us the next time we were in the area. True to their word, on our next visit they treated us to the same veggie combo on the house. You don't see that level of follow-through very often, and it really left an impression. That's how you earn loyal customers. Big shoutout to Emmanuel for taking such great care of us. We're looking forward to coming back.

This isn't a place you stumble onto; it's a place you have to know about, and once you do, you won't stop coming back. Chef Endalk came out to greet our table personally, walked us through the menu, and genuinely seemed invested in making sure we loved the meal. We ordered a generous portion of raw beef for kitfo, and after we sampled a piece, the kitchen happily cooked the rest to a beautiful medium rare -- no fuss, no attitude, just quiet hospitality. The vegetable platter held its own against the meats -- just as vibrant and flavorful, if not more so, with layers of spice in every lentil and green. The samosas were a fun twist too: a lighter, crispier shell closer to an Asian spring roll than the heavier Indian version, stuffed with well-seasoned lentils instead of the usual potato filling. And don't skip the housemade hot tea -- a strong bite of fresh ginger balanced with lemon and honey, the kind of thing you crave again the next cold day. Small room. Big heart. Bigger flavor. Namely custom service and the unfortunate late discovery of hair in my food. Arrived for a late lunch and the restaurant was sparsely populated. I noticed outdoor seating and wanted to enjoy the sun. No one was seated out there and I found a spot. A server came out @5 minutes later and advise me that I couldn't sit there. She mentioned seating was for larger parties despite being midweek and After most lunch rushes. I was moved to another table. The view was fine and I ordered my lunch. The platter I ordered had beef tibs, vegetables and njeri. As a connoisseur of Ethiopian food, I was accustomed to having lentils included in the meal. I soon found out that that was not the case, and also that utensils was not given unless requested. The couple that had finally joined me on the patio requested utensils. I opted to follow traditional style and used the njeri as my utensils. The food had good flavor and was enjoying despite the lack of lentils until I came across a piece of hair. I immediately lost my appetite and brought to the attention of the person at checkout, as it appeared, you had to bring your bill to the Bar area to check out. The person was unapologetic and swore that no one's hair was exposed. I feel that was the way of them saying that it was my hair, which was farther from the truth. I was not seeking a discount and gladly paid my bill while pointing out the obvious about the extra bonus in my meal. Sadly, I was recommended by the workers at the Marriott where I was staying. Its proximity to the hotel and adjacent Washington Convention Center made it a great choice for lunch, and was happy for the referral. They spoke highly of this restaurant, and that made the experience worse as I was anticipating the goodness. Hopefully receive better treatment when they dine there.

It's eclectic and encapsulates an element of the immigrant experience in how it's decorated. Likewise, despite three stars, I do keep coming back because the food is quite superb. Always flavorful and with a decent variety of traditional dishes on offer. Their veggie combo is among their signatures, and I often also get the Asa Spris (curried fish stew) when I visit. I do, unfortunately, have to dock a star here for some of the cuts they've had to make; a small side salad used to accompany most entrees, but now costs $9. I understand inflation is ever-present, but that's eyebrow-raising. Moreover, the injera they provide seems to be in smaller bundles than previously, usually not enough to complete a meal including the piece it is served on, which means you usually need to ask for more. And this segways to why I have to dock another star for the service quality; it could be much better lately. Typically, I find that I have to seat myself, which isn't a huge deal, but the waiters often disappear from the dining room for up to 15 minutes at a time. I've had to get up to refill my water or grab napkins from the waiter station, which I feel bad doing because it's technically not somewhere clients should be accessing on their own, but I often don't have any choice. Finally, the website hasn't been updated in years; don't look at the menu posted there unless you want to lament how inflation has taken its toll on affordability. Overall, I give Enjera props for having quality fare and a nice little venue, but there are some issues I'd encourage management to address.
