Attentive staff. Very lively environment, while everyone is at their respective tables, the restaurant feels like big large family attending supper in someone's home. There's not much rythm or rhyme to what's going on decor wise but you will enjoy some delicious ethnic food prepared with love and care.

"I was impressed that each dish was distinct and flavored perfectly. I had Sambusa which is fried vegetable pastry Wow. Spicy and good spicy. and Beg Wot which is lamb in a spicy Berbere sauce Hot Also had the Sigi Alcha which is beef with onions garlic ginger and turmeric. Pastry's are reason enough to return if you don't like that stuff they also have Italian and American food

Never had Ethiopian food before, and it was a pleasure to have it for the first time at Vera's Kitchen! We had the trio combo and the taste of each item was incredible! Very tasty and filling. I also had a delicious Ethiopian beer and honey wine. Highly recommend for next date night. We will be back again soon!

I cannot vouch for the food as I couldn't eat anything. After taking a few sips of my wine I see there is a roach in it, so I left. Owner was really kind but can't get over a roach.

One of my Crew was highly Gluten sensitive so I set her meal from Vera's Kitchen & she was very pleased. VK's offers Ethiopian food with a heavy dose of light & love. Everyone working extended us peace & blessings on top of their savory food. The menu offers a wide range of healthy fusion recipes (Vegan options) for Breakfast, Sandwiches, Lunch & Dinner with a slight presence of Italian food. They offer Catering & to host Special Events. Vera's Kitchen - Desta. In Amharic, the main language of Ethiopia = Desta means happiness. & that's what we felt with our visit & what she tasted when she ate her Vera's Tibs - Sauteed beef, tomatoes, onions, jalapeno with Injera, or you can choose from Quiona or Rice. Prices are great & the atmosphere is wonderful. I'll be back to dine in & to fully enjoy everything Vera's Kitchen has to offer.

Such a cute little spot in Manassas. I sat at a small, round table, decorated with money from Kenya, Ethiopia and Portugal, among other places. The server was really cool, one of the son's in the family, in town to run the store while, Vera, who must be as lovely as her beef is tender, is away. He recommended the Ginger Boost tea, their specialty and I loved it! I got the lunch portion of the Siga Alicha, a mildly seasoned dish of beef, ginger, garlic and onions. I chose the Injera as my side though you may order it with rice or quinoa if you prefer. That comes with 2 sides, so It was just the right amount for a small eater like me! I had the perfect relaxing Monday lunch here and now I am ready to take on my week!

This was our first time dining at Vera's Kitchen. The food and drinks were excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommend Vera's Kitchen.

Lucky find!! We walked in was greeted by the owner(we found out later). Veronica is amazing and super friendly. We got water, and then decided on the platter for two. Happened to be driving through Leesburg and wanted to pick up some Ethiopian on the way home. Ordered 2 combos for 2 for a family of four. Portion size was a little small across the board, as was the amount of injera provided (we ran out). At other ethiopian restaurants when we order various meat dishes we easily have leftovers even with four people eating. Not here. To their credit though the spicy lamb was DELICIOUS. That may have contributed to its disappearance. Perhaps not my favorite Ethiopian place overall, but well worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Nestled on the edge of Manassas' historic district this great eatery offers a slice of Ethiopian dishes, the friendly staff is very accommodating to people unfamiliar with the cuisine i was able to sample a dish before i ordered I settled on the Sigi Alcha which was excellent, flavorful but not greasy or overly seasoned. If you're in old town give this spot a try! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and very creative foods at Vera's kitchen. I grew up eating and cooking Ethiopian food so I consider myself an expert. We had the lentil hummus and vegetarian sambusas that were fresh and flavorful. We also ate the Beyayenetu. I was impressed that each dish was distinct and flavored perfectly. The mushrooms, lentils, greens, cabbage...each unique and tasty. I also had the Ethiopian style spaghetti, a taste that transported me back to childhood. The kale salad was dynamite. Fusion is hard to get right-Vera's kitchen scores big. I would travel quite a distance to eat here again read more

Wow, if this is not the BEST food in town. My boyfriend lives in the neighborhood and we've eaten at just about every spot. Vera's is a little off the beaten path of the historic downtown BUT so completely worth it. We came in on Sunday morning and were greeted by one of the owners warmly, who sat us in the cool, breezy outside area. We wanted ice coffee to start, and even though they didnt specifically have it on the menu, they happily made some for us. The vibes here are incredibly friendly and sweet. Now, onto the food! I had the smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers on a lightly toasted and delicious plain bagel. The presentation was lovely, complete with two slice of apple. Boyfriend had the omelette and I was jealous!! It was SO smokey and flavorful. He was also given two slice of wheat toast and some avacado to spread. Even before we finished our breakfast, we had already decided to order more food to take home for lunch. He ordered the pasta salad and I ordered the tuna sandwich on ciabatta bread- Holy moly were they both INCREDIBLE. The flavors that Vera's packs into the seemingly most simple dishes is out of this world! We are already planning on becoming regulars to this spot. We felt like friends of the business when we left, and were pleasantly invited to come back and enjoy some traditional Ethiopian dishes, coffee and dessert. WONDERFUL PLACE! Went here for dinner with my friend and we fell in love with this place. The staff is incredibly attentive, polite and helpful. The food was amazing and fits any desires posible. While I came here for Ethiopian food, my friend is less "adventitious" and was able to pick from the menu that included pasta and other usual dishes. I am excited to try their breakfast as that looks amazing. Definitely worth checking out. There is outdoor (as well as indoor) seating available which is also super nice in the times of COVID. read more

My wife and I have had many Ethiopian meals over several years all over the DC region, and this was by far the worst we have ever had. Apologies for the photo of the partially eaten meal. When the meal first came out the vegetables were cold and it was obvious that they had not been made anytime recently. The vegetables were bland, mushy, and seemed like leftovers from the day before. The best thing I could say about the meal is that the tibs were tender enough. The injera was also cold and stale. I asked the waitress about it and she said, "we make it fresh every day." She took it back to microwave it. Our plate did not look like another table that was served after us. Theirs looked fresh like you see in most of the other photos. At least the waitress was good enough not to charge us for the vegetables, which we did not finish. read more

We got the Sambusa, Beef Tibs, and Beyaynetu as take-out and it was all SO flavorful and delicious! We devoured all of it. We will most definitely be back. Hopefully to eat-in post-COVID, cause we would love to try the Ethiopian coffee! read more

What a pleasant surprise my visit to Vera's Kitchen was. This place is a jewel and a wonderful addition to Old Town Manassas. I've lived in Manassas for the past six years and this was probably one of the best dining experience I've had here. The Yelp reviews are spot on. The Ethiopian food at Vera's is excellent and so fresh. The portions are generous and beautifully presented. A big thanks to Eddie for his outstanding customer service. It's almost like dining in his home and you're the guest of honor. I implore you to please give Vera's a try. Restaurants this good need to be supported in our city. A must go in historic Manassas! I am kicking myself I even waited this long to go, but rest assured we will be regulars here. First it is family owned and they are the friendliest people! The location itself is clean and quiet. I loved the cucumber water they give you, so refreshing. We ordered the hummus, vegetable Inerja and the beef tibs. Everything tasted amazing! So fresh and healthy and you get a lot for the money you pay. We have been to handful of Ethiopian places around the greater DC area and we both agreed Veras is the best! Highly recommend if you are reading this review that you stop reading and get to Veras. You won't be disappointed! read more

I've never had Ethiopian food before and it was very good. Owner was very patient and kind and explained the dishes that beat suit our tastes and spice level. We had a tuna, I think, and it was so good. We cleaned our plate. Loved the family style way to eat. We didn't have to eat with our fingers, traditionally if if didn't want to either, haha. They do have silverware. Don't be afraid. read more

A delightful discovery in Old Town -- delicious food and friendly service! We had the lentil hummus, which came with crunchy, seasoned injera chips. Yum! We both enjoyed the vegetarian platter, and my husband had beef tibs which he enjoyed. The Ethiopian beer and pinot noir were also good. Strangely, I think my favorite part of the meal was the water, which was cool and had been flavored with cucumber. It was an unexpected detail, and delicious. We'll be back! read more

Wow! The Potato Cream Soup was one of the best soups I've ever tasted. It's really quite a masterpiece. I then had the spiced beef on the Ingira Bread (a classic). Of course one must drink the Ethopian Coffee with such a meal. The Italian Toasted Almond Cake was our desert, which proved that when one country invades another, there are at least will be benefits from a culinary perspective! The staff was wonderful too. I also do not want a response from the owner or management. I genuinely wish this small local business well, but I can no longer justify giving it another chance. During our previous visits, we already felt the value compared to the pricing was becoming questionable, but we wanted the restaurant to succeed. Today sealed the deal. When we arrived, only about 4 or 5 of the roughly 12 tables were occupied, with two waiters working the dining room. Most of the empty tables were dirty, many still covered with dishes from previous customers. The floor throughout the dining room was dirty and covered with debris. One waiter asked how many were in our party and directed us to a table. He sprayed and wiped only half the table with Windex. The other half, where the condiments were sitting, remained dirty. A few minutes after sitting down, I unfortunately put my finger directly into old sticky syrup that had clearly not been cleaned. The waiter took our order fairly quickly, but then poured cream directly into our coffees instead of letting us add it ourselves. Mine ended up with far too much cream. While waiting to use the restroom, I had a clear view into the kitchen area and noticed the kitchen floor appeared just as dirty as the dining room floor. What stood out most was that neither waiter seemed aware of or concerned about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. There was no sense of urgency or attention to the condition of the dining room. After waiting several minutes for the men's restroom, one waiter told me to go ahead and use the women's restroom instead. The restroom itself seemed reasonably clean, but the paper towel dispenser was broken, and a loose roll of paper towels was sitting on top of the toilet, damp from previous use. When we were ready to leave, one waiter asked how the service was. At that point, I simply wanted to leave as quickly as possible, so I said it was fine. He then left the payment machine at the table for me to run my own card, and even the machine itself was damp and unclean. Overall, the entire restaurant felt sticky, dirty, and poorly maintained. The tables were not being properly cleaned, the floors were sticky throughout the restaurant, and the overall lack of cleanliness completely overshadowed the meal itself. I truly wish this business success, but after three visits, I will not be returning.

One has lemon grass and it's just the perfect amount of tangy and fragrant! I often find a couples come here on dates or large families come by. The meal truly never misses. The menu has plenty of full options if soup is not really your thing, although I am slightly judging you because around this time of year Pho just cures the soul.

The food is exceptional, with a flavorful combination of three entrees ( which is the one I ordered) and a delicious sambusa that we thoroughly enjoyed. While the food is not currently halal, Veronica mentioned she would consider offering halal options in the future.
