Small family owned Ethiopian restaurant. Not much seating indoors (probably not much different than the other crowded restaurants in this area), however seating is also available outside. Parking immediately next to the building. The interior is memorable and services we believed to be good. The quality is also decent when it gets to the meals themselves. Unlike most Ethiopian joints around, their Injera is home-made there, it is gluten-free; they do not add starch to it. We got the typical vegetarian platter we would usually get at any other Ethiopian restaurant (Beyaynetu), we were not let down. Also with our order was the Sambosa (vegetarian), Ginger Tea, and Baklava. I am unsure if their ingredients are GMO-free, organic, etc, then again, I do not expect home made meal quality outside of home. The personnel there know the difference between vegetarian, and vegan, feel free to ask. Their baklava was also vegan (no honey), so that was also welcomed; it is not an old dry cake in a plastic container, its served on a plate, warmed, with some TLC added on to it. When on the road and looking for healthy, sustainable, earth friendly, animal friendly, meals, this one is a gem. I am unsure just how busy it gets, but this recent pandemic had allowed us to drop by on a weekend with just about no one there. Would not be surprised if we dropped by again. read more

THE WAY I ATE THIS FOOD IS RIDICULOUS!! Eddie and Vera cooks the BEST Ethiopian food on this side of the Nile river. We had their special; a combo of lamb and beef tips and other samples of deliciousness. I usually don't like my fingers to get dirty while eating ( I eat chicken wings with a fork) but at Veras I. Did. Not. Care. I dove into that platter pointer finger first and had to stop myself from licking my fingers in front of all these strangers. I can't promise I will succeed next time, because there will be a next for me to visit this gem. it was a cold and rainy day when we visited because of this Eddie suggested ginger tea. I don't care if it is in the middle of July and we are in the middle of a drought I will be ordering this tea again. Veras deserve every star they received on the food alone. OMG! Hell no...have eaten at several Ethiopian Restaurants around the DMV area and this was a disappointment. The place is clean with a certain amount of charm it ends with the food. Some kind of "Kenny G" music was blasting so loud I had to yell to be heard. I'm guessing the waitperson was Vera herself and she was sweet and most gracious and appeared to be the only one working at that time. Ordered some kind of pasta salad to try while waiting for entree's it was bland with a few bits of tomato and onions. Entree's took over 40 minutes and there were no other customers at that time. Beyaynetu some of the vegetables were cold thrown on the injera bread (had to ask for extra bread) plate was cold and could have at least been microwaved they appeared bland mushy old/left overs and some might have been from a can. Friend had Beg Wot said flavor off for berbere sauce, not hot or spicy as advertised. Tried the ginger boost tea wanted hot it was lukewarm and just weird tasting. Happy for them if people like this place, I don't live in the area and wouldn't give it a 2nd try even if I did. read more

I was looking forward to enjoying some Ethiopian food and this was the closet restaurant with delivery(Uber eats). Vegetarian plata on the menu is $15, so we ordered two and a $4 lentil soup. Total plus fees was $56. I wouldn't have minded if the food was good. The injera was old and crumbly and that delicious sourness was gone. The lentils and veggies were bland. The only redeeming thing was the lentil soup. My husband and I were so disappointed. Next time we'll just drive to Centerville and pick up our trusted Ethiopian food at Mana Bistro with two full injera supple and sour with well seasoned and good portioned cabbage and potatoes, green beans and carrots, collards greens, and yellow and red lentils. Most other reviews have said it all. Great for vegetarians and carnivores. Went last night for the first time and had a 5 star experience. Food was awesome and service was warm, friendly and exceptional. Great old fashioned mom and pop type establishment. We started with the hummus with crispy injera chips and mozzarella martini. Hummus was not your typical middle Eastern style but had a great mustardy twang. Mozzarella was caprese style. Wife had the vegetarian beyaynetu which was phenomenal. Daughter had veggie rainbow wrap and I had Vera's tibs. Tried the ginger tea and Ethiopian coffee to finish the meal. Everything was full of flavor. Per Adiam's recommendations we ate without forks and used the injera bread to pick up our food for a traditional Ethiopian experience. Injera was light and fluffy and almost like a wheat pancake. Vera's tibs were beef tips with tomatoes, chopped jalapeños and a homemade spicy ketchup that alone was worth the drive alone. Veronica brought out a kale salad for us the was simple kale with dressing but also very tasty. It wasn't on the menu and it was the little extras like this that made the experience special. Food was so good I went back today to get the beyaynetu for lunch. My wife and daughter took home leftovers after dinner but my plate was clean and I felt left out when they were eating lunch. We frequent Old Town Manassas for lunch and dinner but Vera's is a little off the main drag and even we missed it for several months. Several other restaurants have been in this location for short times apparently without much long term success. So come on Manassas and Prince William county. Come out and support Veronica, Adiam and Vera's Kitchen and help make it a long term success. Just come in and try the beyaynetu or the tibs and you will be hooked. Stopped in for breakfast. What good luck on our part! Such a cozy restaurant with beautiful decor. We were treated as friends by the wonderful owners. The injera 'chips' with lentil hummus were delicious, spicy and garlic were some favorites. The coffee for two was just right for breakfast, and we both enjoyed a few cups worth. We had the scrambled egg sandwich, which came with a small side of avocado and grapes. The eggs and toast were cooked perfectly. We also had freshly made Kita fit-fit, as they can cook many items not on the menu, and it was just as delicious as homemade. My brother always raves about the Ethiopian food he gets in Austin TX. After hearing nice things concerning a restaurant here in Manassas, we finally decided to give it a go. Great move! One might not immediately be aware of the Ethiopian options there, especially given the restaurant's name, but it's a chance to taste some really great food. We ordered pickup which was easily available and right on time. Our meal consisted of 3 classic Ethiopian offerings: sambusa (a fried vegetable pastry), Tibs (sautéed beef in sauce), and Beg Wot a spicy lamb dish. They were all great. The sambusa reminded me somewhat of a Chinese vegetable roll. The Tibs and Wot both came with injera, which is a delicious sour fermented flatbread (quinoa and rice were options as well, when in Ethiopia do as the Ethiopians!). Traditionally, the meat dishes are eaten with your fingers but we skipped this down and dirty method. Both were very good. I found the Wot to be spicy but not overwhelming. I strongly recommend this restaurant for great food and an opportunity to taste food from an exotic part of the world! read more

First time for Ethiopian food. Went on a friend's recommendation because they have a good variety of naturally gluten-free dishes. Did not disappoint! Ginger boost tea hit the spot. Cucumber water was very refreshing. We split the Mozzarella Martini appetizer. Beautiful presentation. Simple. Hubby doesn't need gluten free so he had the creamy chicken pasta. Huge portion. He cleaned the plate! I couldn't decide between the lamb or beef so the manager said I could have a little of both! Still can't decide which was better. Served on a big fresh piece of injera with hot sauce and different lentil mashes. I cleaned my plate, too. Overall, very flavorful and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back! read more
