Even though we have stayed at the lodge multiple times but it was my first time going to Forte. We went there for the breakfast buffet and the food quality was great and I enjoyed the selection. Staff were all friendly and helpful, especially our server Lukas. We had a great experience there and I'm sure we will go back there next time we stay at the lodge. read more

After you have relaxed in the hot bubbly waters, you come down from your room and are greeted by the most convivial man, named Sherin. He is the gem of Forte. I never expect anything very special from hotel restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. The gnocchi Alfredo was the perfect consistency and so delicious. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. I thought I had taken a picture of my beer, but I can't find it. But, Sherin assisted us with wine and beer choices and they complimented the meal in a wonderful way. Forte was formidable! read more

We stopped in for lunch. The hostess was very friendly and seated us immediately. We ordered the fig and goat cheese flatbread. The dough was light and fluffy, and the flavour was delicious! I liked that the server asked about allergies and was able to offer a substitute for an ingredient so we could still order the flatbread. I recommend stopping here while in Kananaskis. read more

We ate here for breakfast twice and dinner once when saying at the lodge. The breakfast buffet is 100% worth it and has everything you could want! The scrambled eggs are actual eggs and not the powder ones you typically see. Still moist and not dried out. The bacon is crispy (sausage available if that's your thing too). They have a vegan stew and breakfast meatballs (never had these before) and both were full of flavor. They have your typical bennys although I find the bread gets a bit soggy in the food tray warmers. There is a yogurt/oatmeal bar with all the toppings you could want, fresh fruit, donuts (these were AMAZING), charcuterie, assorted pastries. Lots of options for whatever mood you are in! Dinner- also well worth it and reasonable! We got two drinks, one that was like a Bloody Mary (very tasty!) and a sangria (best one I've had in a year). For dinner we got the short rib braised pappardelle (the truffle is amazing I. It and the short rib is juicy). We also got the beef strip loin which came with carrots and mashed potatoes. The beef strip loin was a perfect medium rare and came Roth two large pieces. For sides we got garlic focaccia (not really what I think focaccia is but it was still tasty! Nice restaurant with a plenty of food options and great service. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs and another pasta with capers and artichokes, and both were excellent. Big portions and well made. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. And surprisingly, the food was actually less expensive and better than in Lake Louise restaurants. read more

Update: Breakfast - This morning they were serving a delicious buffet for $29 OR a la carte menu options! I went for ordering their Omelet of the day which was bison sausage, cheese, onions and I added spinach to it! It also came with potatoes and it was yummy!!! Dinner - Eating at Forte was like eating at a scratch kitchen in the middle of Italy. That's how delectable the food was from beginning to end. The restaurant smelled of delicious home cooked meals the minute you stepped in. They have a variety of options from pizzas to salads to steak and pastas. I tried the short rib pappardelle pasta. It was rich in flavor, not too heavy, a perfect meal that I could eat many times again. I'm looking forward to trying this restaurant again. read more

First off we are in a hotel, I get it. The service was amazing, the drinks were fantastic. The food was awful. The chicken parm was just frozen tyson chicken breasts. The cheese wasnt melted, sauce was ehh. No sauce on pasta. The gnocchi was soft with over done shrimp and jar sauce. The supposed minestrone soup was chicken broth with italian seasoning and veggies that were barely cooked. No beans, no parm, no tomato sauce flavor. The Caesar salad was good, little lite on croutons. It is very hard to make a meal this bad. I feel really bad for whomever is supposed to be the chef because no one has trained them properly. read more

The service was decent and the Tomato Salad was very good. It was very large with and generous with lots of cheese so either share or choose as a meal if you are not a big eater. The steak was tough and chewy. it was not good quality. I expected better and should have sent it back. It was expensive of course.. the ambiance was okay. Had brunch at Forte choosing to go for the buffet for $29 person. It included tons of options and all your drinks. Some of the options -scrambled eggs -maple breakfast meatballs -bacon -eggs benny -omelet made your way -veggie stew -breads/pastries -cereals -yogurt -charcuterie etc Everything was delicious except for the eggs benny. They were hard and it was difficult to get through the muffin. If you want eggs benny, order them a la carte so it's fresh and made the way you like, otherwise the buffet is definitely the way to go! read more

I thought this was an above average breakfast buffet. For $28 CAD, it's totally worth the price. There is a good selection of items to choose from. Everything from your typical eggs, omelette bar, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fruit smoked salmon, yogurt, pastries, etc. Also comes with coffee/tea and juice. Service was friendly, on point. Super clean and well maintained. You can also order off the regular menu if you're interested in some of their specialties. Lots of quality bang for your buck. Nice cafe restaurant in Kananaskis with nice mountain views and the patio is great and heated. Variety of entrees and burgers and prices are higher likely due to remote location. The burger was excellent. But they could use more quality control in the salad as there were some rotten bits. They even have several nice beers on tap. A glass of wine will set you back $16. Came here for the breakfast buffet on Sunday. Adults is $28, kids 6 to 12 are half price and 5 and under are free. Also included is coffee, tea, milk, and assorted juices. Good selection of hot and cold items. Everything from potatoes, scrambled eggs, eggs Benny, omelet station, sausages to pancakes, fruit, pastries, and ham and cheeses. Food was good. My husband and I ate here last night and absolutely loved it. The food was hot and fresh, the drinks were incredible, and our waitress (Justinne) was sensational. We're staying at the resort during our honeymoon and decided to drop in. When we said why we were in the area, we were given a free dessert (the chocolate mousse is sooooo good). The only reason I don't give it five stars is because the portions are small for the price. A salad doesn't come with your meal, and bread isn't brought out once you place an order. It would be nice to have one or the other come with your food. Had we not had dessert, we would've gone over to Woody's for a snack because we were still a little hungry. read more

I'm going to temper the enthusiasm of some of the other reviews. I agree that the breakfast buffet is excellent. The pricing of most menu items are designed to lead you happily to enjoy the many choices of the buffet. It's very kid friendly and they even offer gluten free bread that they will happily toast on a separate toaster for you. However, we also ate there for dinner, which was slightly less memorable. Like its predecessor the Fireweed, Forte seems to have a consistency issue. Many items were excellent but some were just OK. On top of that, service was a bit loose. Our waiter at breakfast was very professional, but our dinner service was slow and inattentive. At a restaurant such as this, you would expect someone to pop by every so often to check on us. There was little of that and the total meal took almost two hours, not that we were lingering over latte's and desserts. The Cedar Room is the Lodge's new upscale steakhouse, which might offer a better choice for dinner, but Forte's does offer a reasonable choice, especially if you're there with kids. read more

I had a love-hate relationship with this restaurant. I'll start with love. After dinning at this restaurant, I need to get a few items from the kitchen for a natural remedy, and they were gracious enough to supply everything without a charge. They were closing the kitchen, and they could have easily dismissed me, but the manager and kitchen staff went out of their way to ensure that I got what I needed. For the hate, we dinned at this location for my birthday. A reservation was set multiple-day before, and the restaurant accommodated us with a private table. After sitting for about ten minutes, we found fifteen small bugs flying in the window that we are sitting right next to; due to the doors being open earlier in the day. We brought this to the attention to our server, and they moved us to a different table. The beauty of the restaurant is the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Where they placed us, we did not have a view plus we were sitting between three other parties. So the conversations were very loud. The service was average. We were looking at the difference at how the waiter treated the other guest by recommending items and going out of his way to create a small talk to connect. Then to come to our table and be as dry as the Serra. The biggest problem was that they never offered us the dessert menu. After the host made it clear that is was my birthday, and we reconfirm while we were ordering. Our food was spectacular; they have an excellent selection for vegetarian. I do wish the portions were more significant compared to the meat entries. Overall I do think it is worth going to I guess I just caught the guy on a wrong day. read more

Absolutely delicious! I come to Kananaskis the village for a day trip only once a year and we ate here. I had the BBQ meat lovers pizza cooked in the wood fired oven which was delicious. I also had the roasted cauliflower which had an avocado and lime sauce on it! That was even better then the pizza and it was my favourite! read more

Did not include drink, veg or dessert. $23 for tiny bowl of spaghetti for adult. $75 for lunch 3 people, and we only had one coffee no other drinks. Luckily they served water. Our server Jan provided the BEST SERVICE I have ever received in a restaurant. He was so friendly and went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. On top of this, the food was delicious! We went for the breakfast buffet & the custom omelette was certainly the highlight! The bacon & sausages were cooked to perfection along with the pancakes. We ate here for lunch on Thursday. We were a group of 6. When our server first came over we asked how she was. Her reply was "I'm so busy." The restaurant had about 4 other tables with customers at them and a few other servers. This should had indicated to us that things were not going to go well. Our food was fairly good, our issue was the horrible service. We were never asked if we would like refills once our glasses were empty. I asked for water and she did add water to the glasses of 4 of us. When our bill was presented we discovered that we had been overcharged on all 3 of the kids meals. When we pointed it out to our server she just picked up the bill and walked away without saying a word. My daughter was eating her dessert and needed some water. I eventually walked over to the bar and grabbed the water jug and filled our glasses myself. Our server saw me do this and made no attempt to apologize or to help. We have eaten at this restaurant regularly for many years. With our experience I don't think we will return. read more

Food was fine. We all enjoyed our food. The problem was the service. It took us 40 minutes to just get drinks and utensils, and they forgot to give some of us plates and utensils. Then it took an hour and a half to actually get our starters and meal, which came out together. A couple things were paid for because of the wait, but it's still not somewhere we'd go back to.
