But there is an "death is approaching" haze that makes me yearn for something new and vibrant to infuse this once wonderful place with LIFE again. Like an Old Aunt or Ancient Grandma, the love and nostalgia makes up for the worn and torn, but I remember when this place was Best of Augusta and miss it! I would eat here again. The place was empty at 6:30 on a Thursday night but maybe that's why our food was good. We ordered and appetizer of pot stickers. It said it came with six. We got ten. They were really good too! We ordered two entrees as well. The portions are enormous. The place is very big and definitely old. There are some bad reviews on here. I say to just try it for yourself. I can give 1 star because it was at least ready when I got there. Other than that absolute trash. The rice was fried, so much so it was burnt had a pretty funky smell as well. The General's chicken was apparently made buy a private. Just shit. Egg rolls were tossed straight into the bin. I must admit I was quite worried from the moment I pulled up to the place. Plenty of parking!! I walked in and the most stale stagnant smell was about and I was now certain I had for sure fucked up. On the upside the portions were huge it felt like 10 lbs of food. Service was good, however, I did notice a few things about the food served. If you order Kung Pao Shrimp, you get about 4 medium sized ones. Not great, but not terrible. A similar issue with the shrimp fried rice or lomein, the shrimp are microscopic! read more

This place has the potential be something awesome but it did drop the ball for me. 3 stars for American Chinese food are normally for the take out small order to go spots. This is a full blow sit down order spot but did not deliver what I wanted. Went here on Sunday for lunch and ordered pan fried dumplings that came out deep fried because pan friends is not crisp all around just the bottom (at least I knew it was hand made and the flavors were there), egg rolls is what it is and I would ordered a dozen of these to go, sizzling sesame triple delight (shirmp, chicken, and scallops) I thought the scallops would be the star but nope I took all the scallops off the plate (just order it with shirmp and chicken and ask for them to go light on the sauces), best thing I orders was the egg fu young (two big fluffy yummy egg omelets with crispy edges!) I got the gravy sauce on the side because I didn't want it to sog up my omelets. For now I will give 3 star but I will come back and try to order things that are more close to real Chinese food. I hope they step up their game and deliver better dishes and quality of ingredients. I'm upset that I have to write this review but I have given this place a fair chance. The first time I had Formosa's I was very happy with the flavor and quality of their food. As well as the care they put into packaging deliveries. But the last 2 times I have ordered I have been greeted with cold food, dry crusty rice, and sloppy packaging. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and it had no flavor and was drowned in sauce that leaked all through the bag. The most consistent food I have gotten from them has been their Egg Drop Soup but this time it was cold and tasted old. I'm sad to say I most likely will not be ordering again from this restaurant. read more

What used to be one of the best, if not the best, places to eat is now one I would never recommend. Tonight we ordered two different dishes with shrimp. They use canned shrimp which is small. When I asked about it, she explained which dishes they use these tiny shrimp in and which dishes are made with jumbo shrimp. It would have been nice if this was on the menu. My friends and I went on a Sunday afternoon so we were not able to get the lunch specials, though I have heard some great things about the portions (and from what I could see the prices were great during the work week!). The restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived but we figured that we might have just missed the lunch crowd where we arrived sometime around 1:30pm. The woman that served us was very sweet and gracious, especially where she had to wait for us to decide on what we wanted. The food, though, was not anything amazing. Lunch was awesome. For less than a McDonald's bill, we had great food that we had to pack up leftovers for. At first our order was wrong but they happily took care of it quickly. We used to take our grandchildren here because it is never crowded at night - 2 to 3 tables occupied. The kids were ok with it, but the last time we went, they decided that they wanted to go someplace else next time. From an adult pespective, the service was indifferent. We had to ask for napkins, a knife, plates etc, several times, there were only two tables occupied, but it took forever for the drinks, we had to ask about the appetizers an on and on. Old fashioned Chinese food restaurant like used to be all over town. Now everything is Japanese or Asian Fusion. The food here is always hot and tasty. Nothing too fancy just good food served in heaping portions. The staff is very friendly. We order takeout from there at least once a week and try to go eat in as often as possible; I don't think anyone has better fried rice. The steamed dumplings and egg rolls are also very good. If you're a "foodie" looking for the latest trend, this will not be the place for you. But, if you remember (and liked) the family Chinese restaurants from the 60's, 70's, and 80's you will LOVE this place. read more

I would give them a zero if I could. I had a terrible experience a year ago and decided to give them a fair try again. Horrible. I ordered for my 95 year old client. I was delivered the wrong dinner. When I called the manager/ owner was nasty. Told me he had to substitute scallops for crab. He never called to let me know that he was changing the order. Then after I complained he told me I could come in and get 3 pieces of crab meat when he gets it in, cause it's people like me who put people out of business. Never said he was sorry or would give any kind of adjustment. NEVER have I ever dealt with someone so rude. My order wasn't correct so he should have made good on it. First off, I'd like to say that I have been dining here since March of 2010. I love the food and the atmosphere. I work on Fort Gordon and have ordered from here many times to get my lunch delivered. Today they suddenly decided that my order that I always get no longer qualifies for their delivery on post, because it is only one order, even though it reaches their delivery minimum cost. They actually told me that are requesting that I order my food from elsewhere. I have always tipped their drivers extremely well and have encouraged others to dine and order from this restaurant. Craving Chinese food and new to town, we decided to visit this very nice looking restaurant. I read the reviews but since they were dated 2011 and 2012 I thought why not give it a try. Gosh, we regret going here. It started with the sauces which were in a mustard and ketchup container. Yuk, some kind of watery, pink, applesauce. Then came the greasy wonton soup with a weird taste to it. Incoming was the orange sesame chicken which was edible and tasty. The sweet and sour pork was interesting. It was dry, old and chewy pork cubes deep fried with a bowl of a nasty tasting sweet and sour sauce. This is my first review of any restaurants and it was this bad that I had to share. Have tried this restaurant several times over the years. Never was impressed but for convenience sake just continued to go there. A few days ago we ordered take out. Over $70.00 worth of food. Got home and found that they had left part of the order off. Called them and to their credit they sent someone over with the remainder of the order. Really disappointed in their shrimp fried rice. These were miniature. I have never ever ordered shrimp fried rice where the shrimp were almost non-detectable. One called Kung Pao chicken was horrible, there was no chicken in that meal, they were chunks of fat, never seen chicken pieces that looked like that. The appetizers came after the main course.
