Scope of work: Kitchen + Master Bath + Guest Bath complete demo and remodel, downstairs flooring…read more(from carpet/tile to LVP), tile around the fireplace, and door/frame repaint Few things I wish I knew before starting the project (this was my first big renovation): - When obtaining quotes, clearly communicate the materials you want included in the quote (e.g., quote based on current layout, quote based on kitchen cabinets going all the way to the ceiling, quote based on shower tiles going all the way to the ceiling, etc.). This will help to make the quotes more comparable and will ensure there aren't any major surprises along the way. - Confirm working hours (e.g., what time they will start each day, what time they will finish each day, do they work weekends, etc.). - If you have the space, buy new appliances as soon as possible. Similarly, order shower glass doors as soon as tiling is done. You never know when something will go out of stock or if there will be unexpected delays in delivery. - Be prepared to make all the design choices (unless you hire a separate designer). They will opine on something very specific if you ask and will definitely bring something to your attention if they think you're about to make a huge mistake, but in general, you are responsible for all the materials selection. We met with 6 contractors before selecting Entourage. Of the 6 we met with, only 2 encouraged doing things "by the book" (i.e., getting the proper permit from the city). In fact, some of them actively discouraged us from obtaining the permit. Given the magnitude of the project, it made us a bit nervous that some of the contractors didn't want us to pull the proper permit (we understood that obtaining the permit will add to our budget and timeline and were ok with it). Of the 2 that did recommend doing things by the book, we went with Entourage because their pricing was more reasonable. FYI, Entourage handles all the work related to pulling the permit for minimal cost. Overall, we are very happy with how our house turned out and plan to hire them on future projects (we have also recommended them to several friends). Entourage's quality of work, especially as it relates to tiling, is just amazing. In fact, friends that came over to check out the "new" house commented on how they thought the project would've cost way more than what we ended up spending. Our primary contact, Paulina, was super responsive and helpful. They estimated that the project would take 3 - 4 months and it was completed almost exactly on the 3-month mark. I HIGHLY recommend Entourage Home Remodeling.

I really appreciated Ken's easy-going demeanor, and sensed zero interest in him trying to sell me a repair service that wasn't needed. Ken is just an honest guy offering his experienced opinion - in no doubt, putting yet another homeowners' unwarranted concerns to rest. Would be nice If all companies sent inspectors who operated the same way as Ken.

They even were able to work on the weekends so that we could have our kitchen done faster. We are incredibly happy that we went with them. It was the best decision. The craftsmanship is excellent, though the project was delayed (primarily because of additional nuanced city requirements), their communication throughout the construction process kept us at ease. Though not everything went smoothly, they appropriately addressed and rectified any issues that popped up during the construction process. An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

My husband and I are very pleased with the work Forehan construction has done for us. We decided to have our master bathroom updated this past summer and Rick and his team took our ideas and made them better than I had even imagined. They laid the travertine tile beautifully and we are very pleased with the modern Koehler sinks and shower installed as well. I also referred Forehan construction to my Mother in law and Rick was able to drive to her house in Long Beach to talk ideas with her three days after she called. I wanted to redo the inside of my entire house (yes, EVERY inch) and didn't know who to work with. I was given quotes that were 3-4x my budget and had a contractor pull out of the project 2 weeks before my scheduled demolition. I got super discouraged until i found Frame Build & Design. They were able to work with what I had and made my experience very enjoyable. They provided me a rendering of what the inside of my house would theoretically look like, and I can confidently say that it looks pretty darn close to the pictures! I'm so pleased with how all my cabinets & fixtures turned out. I appreciate Idan for answering all my questions and dealing with my complaints. He was patient with me and would send a guy over to fix or add things that I wanted (like outlets on the ceiling for my speakers, patching holes, etc). He went above and beyond to get permits for renovating, be there for city inspections, and keeping me posted on progress. I will say however that if you are planning to hire this team, you will need to be hands on. This means being involved in EVERY decision! I had to pick out all my materials on my own to match the rendering provided in the beginning. FB&D provided some locations I could check out, but it required a lot of research on my end. It felt overwhelming as a first time home owner, but this is pretty normal from what I understand. FB&D had an interior designer on this project and she was a HUGE help in decision making. There's no perfect contractor. Yes there were some communication issues and yes there were some imperfections. Yes it took 2x my timeline. What renovation doesn't? But ultimately the FB&D team were very accommodating with my feedback and gave me my DREAM home. And I can say 7 months into living here, everything is still holding up great and nothing has broken! I highly recommend hiring them for your next project! They did a great job. I ultimately went over budget but that's totally expected (and totally on me)! Thank you Frame Build & Design!

He asked me very detailed questions that I hadn't thought about yet. I knew that he was detail-oriented and that he was already invested in my project even though I hadn't given him the go-ahead. I planned to do a room addition, which required an architect and getting those plans approved by the city. He took care of all the back and forth so that my focus could be on other aspects of the project. I had walls knocked down, a window put in, and new walls built. I added some aesthetic upgrades, which he took care of quickly. Daniel always responded quickly anytime I reached out to him. I was never stressed about the project, and he made sure to stop by regularly to look at the work that was done. He even noticed things that I hadn't and made sure the crew came back to correct them. Daniel is the lead that you want handling your project. I highly recommend him and his team and would use him again.

Ours was not an easy build due to the fact that we had to excavate quite a bit as the ADU was build in to a hillside and near a slope to the rear of my property. If I had to focus on one thing, it would without question be communication. I was assigned a job foreman who guided me through the entire process, listened to my needs, provided me feedback, and helped me along the way with all the little changes that arose during the build. We made a few changes along the way and we were given clear communication of the requested change, as well as a fixed price for the change. The use of sub contractors is a part of any build and each of the contractors selected were respectful of my property and my neighbors, did an above average job, and were a compliment to John Christopers team. I would advise anyone considering an accessory dwelling unit to choose this contractor for the project. We spent a lot of time selecting the right contractor and were even led astray by a few. I can honestly say from my perspective, there's no-one better suited to build a detached ADU than John Christopher Construction. Before choosing John Christopher, we viewed several of their builds in process as well as spoke to some of their employees and customers. Right from the get go, it was clear that he is an honest person and gave us a lot of confidence that he will be able to handle the project. We had to wait a few months to get the permit approval from the city, and Micky followed up with the permit officers diligently. He had his team ready to jump in with the demo, and started working on the project immediately after we received the permits. The project took a couple of months longer than expected (in part because we asked for some changes, and in part because Micky had underestimated some of the work). But we did not mind the delay as it was clear that Micky's team was doing the work properly and not cutting corners. One piece of advice: Micky gives you accurate timelines for his material options, but if you want other options then you will have to be on top of it yourself to make sure you get it in time. This is understandable, and once we realized it, we were able to better forecast when certain aspects of the project will be completed. Micky is just an amazing human being - kind, thoughtful, and empathetic. The patience paid off. We now live in one of the best houses on the street (which was previously an eye sore). Our sincere gratitude for Micky and his team. We will seek his company out for future projects.
