Highly recommend HQ Remodel & Design. We hired them for a backyard remodel while we were living across the country, managing the entire project remotely. Partway through, we realized we also needed a good chunk of interior work done before we could move in -- and Rapha and his team saved us and got the whole thing done in time, so our cross-country move didn't slip a single day. Doing all of this remote was nerve-wracking. Rapha kept us completely in the loop, sent updates, and never once made us chase him down. Trusting a contractor with your house sight-unseen from 3,000 miles away is a lot to ask, and he made it feel easy. The backyard came out incredible -- pavers and a beautiful new outdoor kitchen that completely transformed the space. HQ just finished a major project for us. We worked with Tali to have the house painted, wood repaired, property line established and wall built. We widened our driveway and had artificial turf installed. My husband and I are thrilled with how everything turned out. Initially, I was frustrated because my project was declined based on a minimum price requirement without a site visit, which felt dismissive and not reflective of the actual scope of work. That experience led me to leave critical feedback. To Roy's credit, he took the time to call me directly, listen to my concerns, and explain the situation in a respectful and professional way. I truly value business owners who are willing to have those conversations, take feedback seriously, and protect the reputation of their company rather than ignore concerns. While the initial interaction could have been handled better, Roy's follow-up showed accountability and leadership, which says a lot. Camila, the coordinator, was fantastic--she responded quickly, scheduled a free onsite consultation, and maintained proactive communication throughout the process. On the day of the consultation, Camila informed me 30 minutes before our scheduled time that the estimator (let's call him John) would be 45 minutes late. While inconvenient, I appreciated the heads-up and adjusted my schedule. However, the consultation itself was a different experience. From the start, John's approach felt more aggressive than professional. He questioned why my family member who answered the door was unaware of his visit and interrupted my explanation of the project multiple times. Rather than focusing on my outlined scope, he immediately began upselling high-end services, including premium epoxy floors and full garage conversions, despite my clear preference for a budget-conscious approach. When I reiterated my priorities, he continued pushing additional services, such as landscaping and patio upgrades, while making dismissive remarks about other contractors, such as questioning their licensing status and their quality of work if they were to give a lower estimate. What was most disappointing, however, was the final interaction. After an extensive conversation, during which he called my garage a "mess", emphasizing a more extensive remodel now would be a great opportunity to clean it all up, I was informed that to receive a detailed estimate, I would need to call the office, as they prefer to issue estimates only for projects they deem worthwhile. The estimator then suggested he would need to speak with my husband, despite the fact that I was the primary decision-maker. After the consultation, I provided Camila with candid feedback about my experience. She was professional and apologetic, even offering to send a more experienced estimator for a second chance. However, later that day, the company's Production Line Manager called to clarify that my project was below their minimum project cost and suggested I look for a handyman instead. While I respect businesses setting their own project thresholds, it would have been far more professional and considerate to communicate that policy upfront--saving both time and effort for all involved. In summary, while Camila was excellent in customer service, my experience with the estimator left much to be desired. If your project aligns with their high-end remodel pricing, you may have a better experience. However, if you're looking for a smaller-scale renovation, clear expectations around budget and scope should be established early to avoid unnecessary consultations. read more

They are prompt communicators and the project manager assigned to my project (Ben) immediately set me at ease. The project included an addition to our master bedroom, a new kitchen and two baths. We found the company through our neighbors and we started we a design and engineering plans. It took about three weeks to finalize the layout and design. To make long story short the project was completed on time and with just a few change orders (we decided to upgrade the electrical and plumbing for the whole house). We had used HQ Remodeling last year for a backyard redo and had a great experience, so we called them again when we needed to upgrade our garage. We worked again with Tali, who is very straightforward and professional, and best of all is a great communicator, replying to every call and text quickly. With foreman Israel (also great to work with), they quickly took away our old makeshift shelving, added drywall, replaced our old hot water heater, solved a few problems with our laundry set up, and added some strong and surprisingly good-looking shelves. The story starts with a front and backyard overgrown with weeds 4-6ft tall. An eyesore to both myself and my neighbors. An unusable space to sit out and enjoy, run around or even entertain guests. After many contractor consultations and walkthroughs I settled with HQ. HQ was the first of the contractors to look at and speak to me like a human being as opposed to a cow utter. I was paired up with one of their PMs, Dan and we instantly clicked like veteran buddies. He took the time to work through my vision, draw up 3D designs and ensure me that it was within my grasp all along the way. Dan was my first point of contact with HQ and the reason I decided to sign a contract. There was no pressure, assurances when needed and affirmation that they could do the job, Rapha, another one of the PMs frequented the job site. He asked questions, listened to my concerns and made sure they were resolved within a day or less. Rapha was very sincere, took the time to chat about the job and even Marvel Movies. He was the second point of contact at HQ that validated my decision to contract with them in the first place. The team - the team Forman Lupe was great. He took heard my concerns and immediately took action where needed. I'll admit there weren't many concerns. He and his crew worked tirelessly throughout the hottest days of summer demolishing, installing, and fine tuning their work. Amazing teams overall. The team removed all of the weeds, tore up random concrete patios, leveled the earth, installed weed barriers, a drainage system, sprinkler system, rocks, pebbles,pavers and grass. They even built a new pergola for me. End of story (Result) Renovating the front and back yard (roughly 300 sq ft) took about a month. Would have been faster had I as the client not held up the team with change orders and direction. But in the end I now have a yard I can be proud of. Many neighbors and passerby's have even stopped to look, compliment and ask what plant is this or who did you work with? I gladly refer HQ. (Plants provided by MoonValley Nursery in which HQ granted a $2000 credit). I have hosted parties in my new yard and enjoyed every afternoon outside since. When I'm working from home I even find myself watching birds play where they never have before, squirrels run around and listen to the trees v the weeds in the wind. Fast forward a month later. The owner of the company was in town and left a gift basket on my door step, our business had been completed long by then. But again, HQ didn't treat me like a business transaction. HQ redid our driveway and walkway in pavers. Tali was great to work with as was their crew. The job was done on time and on budget and the work was done pretty well. The only negative I'd note is that at the end of the job the dwindling crew got "end-of-job-I-tis" . They didn't clean up the way I would have expected and got pretty lax with the details. I had to spend a few hours fixing things they'd missed. I'm sure they would have come back out had I complained but we were eager to move on to the next phase of the project. This company destroyed my sprinklers and damaged my sidewalk, costing me over $500 to remediate. They promised to pay me for it, as they should have. I posted a negative review on Yelp, which was primarily due to their leaving their excess materials and other trash on my property and never coming to haul it away, which to me means they never finished the job. So after they saw that post -- which I modified at their request to make it sound not so bad -- nevertheless that they refused to pay me the $550 they owed me for the damage. Nice huh?
