When it comes to repairs, better go someplace else. They gave me the wrong lenses, and then never followed up. Still waiting to see if I can get my glasses returned..... read more

I'd follow Dr. Freeman wherever she goes. Believe this is my 3rd eye exam with her. She's always so exacting and thorough. I used to go to an upscale eye "boutique" to get my eye exam, which was good, but Dr. Freeman takes it up a notch & I see better than ever! Plus - she is SO pleasant & friendly. read more

It had been awhile since I bought a new pair, but the experience this summer at For Eyes was great. I wanted to see if I could really get two pairs of frames AND lenses for $99, and that's exactly what happened. Lisa (not sure of her last name, but think she might be from Denmark?) helped me and my wife find two great frames. The process was relatively quick, easy and satisfying. The glasses arrived about 5 days later and I got a call to let me know there were waiting for me. read more

Our family has come here for several years now and we have been treated well. They are less expensive than Lenscrafters. Staff are friendly and patient. I always enjoy my time there and our glasses are right the first time. We go back frequently for repairs- as the kids are hard on their glasses. Repairs are quick and free. Can't recommend them highly enough- even the woman with an accent! read more

I had the screw fall out of the hinge on my glasses. I've gotten glasses here before but these glasses were not from here ... still the person there did the fix and when it turned into a more complicated procedure finding the right screw, she just kept at it until the job was done - and she did the other stem too because it looked loose ... that was some great service ... and for no charge... thank you! read more

I am very glad to report that I had a great eye exam (not always my experience at other places) and had expert advice about choosing my glass. They respected my price range and got me everything I wanted and needed. I appreciate that there was no upsell pressure. The delivery was timely. I will recommend this store to my friends. read more

Dr. Freeman is very nice, personable and professional. I will definitely return to her for my annual eye exam. My first experience in the optical shop was, I admit, a little awkward - not unlike some of the other reviewers here - perhaps there was a cultural difference? I don't know that I would call my experience 'rude' but it wasn't as friendly as the employees at LensCrafters just down the way (I had a prior prescription there). I had just been browsing but no one really offered to help me - and I felt like I needed help but didn't want to bug anyone - so I left. When I returned to purchase new glasses and buy more contacts six months later, I had a totally different experience, however. I was helped (I did ask for help this time) and when helped, it was full on, the woman who helped me gave me suggestions and an honest opinion about frames, etc. - and I love my new Ray Ban glasses that she found for me. I was also not sold the most expensive frames in the shop either, which was appreciated as well. The people here are quite kind and helpful but you have to ask for the help maybe? That's what I noticed. Not a bad thing, just a difference. read more

I love this store! Dr Freeman is very knowledgable . The other women that work here are always friendly and quick at processing my requests. This store goes above and beyond. I ran out of contacts and had ill fitting glasses which were bothersome. Dr Freeman gave me a few trial lenses to tied me over until my contact lens order came in. I highly recommend this For Eyes to all my friends and family. read more

Here's a tip that will help you in your selection of an Optical outlet. DON"T GO TO THIS ONE. In February they made a pair of progressive lenses for me. I couldn't get used to them, but they told me that some people had a harder time than others. I went back 3 times and kept hearing the same story. I couldn't get used to the glasses. It was my fault. I finally went back to the eye doctor who told me they gave me the wrong lenses. They were HIGHLY DEFENSIVE when I brought the glasses back although in the end (after kicking and screaming) they made me a pair of free reading glasses and a new pair of progressives, The remake of my glasses will take at least two weeks. So much for overnight glasses. I guess when they make a mistake and have to redo it--your order moves to the end of the line. Too many optical places in any given mall to use this one--especially if they don't know how to make glasses! read more

First - Let me say that my family of four have all been steady customers of For Eyes in Corte Madera for many years. We love the optometrist - Dr. Sharon Freeman. She is great, and we will continue to see her for eye check-ups. However, after the eye examination, when you emerge from her office with an eyeglass prescription - AVOID THE STORE AT ALL COSTS! It didn't take long to figure out that they would offer half-off and two for one sales, but then jack up their prices with all kinds of extra fees. Most recently, I bought a pair of expensive prescription eyeglasses and paid hundreds of dollars for UV Protection, Scratch Resistant Coating, Polarization, and other 'extras' with the understanding that they would protect my investment. My prescription sunglasses cost more than $400 (after my insurance paid $400). Yesterday, I visited the store and spoke with the manger. I showed him my glasses (which were purchased about 14 months earlier) and noted the numerous scratches. I assumed that they would be covered by the scratch resistance coating warranty that I paid for when the glasses were purchased. This store manager 'offered' to give me a half-off price reduction to replace the lenses. Instead of paying $440, he would charge me only $220! I protested that the scratch resistance should have lasted longer, and that he should replace the lenses at his cost. He refused. I called Costco, and found that they would replace my glasses (same brand and lens type) for $250 (before insurance coverage). I've long suspected that the shop is a rip-off. They start with sales and drastic price reductions, but you will inevitably walk out of the door paying them hundreds of dollars, despite having good insurance (as we have). AVOID THE FOR EYES SHOP AT ALL COSTS - OR PREPARE TO GET RIPPED OFF BY THE GREEDY OWNER/MANAGER! read more

so you know the saying you get what you pay for............well let me tell you I got more than I bargained for when I shopped prices at For Eyes...I worked w/ their optician Vickie who helped understand why I was always disappointed in my glasses I usually just go to Costco but they never seemed to be right. They just sold me whatever I picked and never told me that they were not right the right size or shape to go with my prescription. After talking to Vickie she helped me learn that I was going to need more than just one pair so when I get paid I will be going to see Vickie. read more

I shipped off to college with a brand new pair of glasses from For Eyes and I soon found that were slightly off due to my sensitive eyes (still much better then my previous pair from another company). When I returned 7 months later they DIDNT CHARGE ME FOR THE REEXAMINATION AND FOR CHANGE IN LENSE. They acknowledged the fact that I was far away and couldn't have returned them in the normal return window. I am very pleased with the way For Eyes handled my situation. It felt like I was dealing with people and not a company. read more

Yesterday (3/2/16), I was welcomed by a happy-natured staff at For Eyes Optical for my overdue eye exam. This was my second visit within the last few years with Dr. Freeman. One, who proudly educates you on healthy eye care. After my thorough exam, I met with Miriam to select a frame for glasses - 2 pairs! (While I was with Dr. Freeman, Miriam had already pulled several frames aside for me to try on). Within a half hour, I had made my selections. Sincere thanks to Miriam and Shahla for their expertise and honest opinion. And...best part of all, I inspired three of my co-workers to give For Eyes a call for an exam. read more

Based on the many reviews here and my own experience, I have no idea why this place keeps this awful useless 'employee with a forign accent'. They musthave lose at least 1/2 of their business due to her. The lens of a pair of glasses I bought at the Berkeley For Eye store popped out soon after I got them. I was told any For Eye store can fix it for me, so I went to this store because it is closer to my house. I was expecting pleasant treatment like I got from the Berkeley store, but I ran into the same apathetic 'woman-with-a-forign-accent' at the eyewear counter. She barely looked at it and said there is nothing wrong with it (as I managed to put the lens back in myself but it kept falling out repeatedly). Because of her unhelpful attitude, I din't want to linger. I had planned to switch to this store for my future eye-care need. Well, forget it. As long as she is there, I will never go back and will tell my friends not to go there. read more

I've been a For Eyes customer in Berkeley for the past few years while in school. I used to see Dr. Channon Kao, who by the way is beyond awesome. The opticians were great too. I moved back to Marin recently, and I figured all the For Eyes were the same and decided to go to the one in Corte Madera...HUGE MISTAKE!!! First, the female doctor, Dr. Freeman, had absolutely NO personality. I was just another pair of eyes was how I felt with her. No warmth, no detailed questions about my past eyecare...a cold fish. The exam was robotic and made me realize just how great I had it with Dr. Kao. Then the staff helped me pick out glasses. They all seemed "too good" to be working with us common folks. All were snotty at best. I ended up not buying my glasses there because they really couldn't be bothered with helping me. I'm hugely disappointed, and will drive my butt back to Berkeley to see Dr. Kao and the wonderful ladies at the Berkeley For Eyes for my next exam. I just can't believe the same company would have such different offices?? Maybe it's franchised? I don't know. I've never posted a review for Berkeley since this is my first time reviewing on Yelp; I think I'm gonna post one for them cuz they really deserve a good one from me. read more

After the decision to purchase eye glasses was made, the sales clerk offered a variety of upsell lens packages priced from $99-150 or so, all of which included a 1 year warranty. The terms of this warranty sounded quite impressive - almost too good to be true. However, when I asked to see the warranty's terms in writing, both the sales clerk *and* store manager (who said she'd worked there 8 yrs), flat out refused! They also refused to write *any* of the enticing terms they told me verbally in hand-written format on my receipt or any other piece of paper. They were **not ** simply out of copies or offerred to provide it later, which I offerred as excuses for them to provide the warranty to me later. They both claimed no written warranty information was available, that I had to trust them and that they were offended I was making such a request. They told me that I was the FIRST customer to EVER request their warranty in writing and that alone should tell me something (they didn't say what but the insinuation was a snide one). Buyer Beware!! This place is run like a rug bazarr in a foreign country.. read more
