Folks should definitely know about this "off the beaten path" shop. They carry many stylish and up-to date designer frames. I spent a long time trying on MANY frames. I felt bad because I knew that Fleur (the kind and gracious owner) was going to have to hand clean each of these due to Covid. Though I inwardly cringed each time I took another pair (35+!!) down to try, she never once dissuaded me or had me feeling it was not ok. She gave me space to mull over the many options without pressuring me in the least. To the contrary, she offered her opinion in a non-pressured way which I could tell was backed by years of knowledge and an expert eye for what fits the face best both aesthetically and fit-wise. She also acknowledged that it takes trying on many pairs to find the right ones. She even offered to let me take two pairs home to think about overnight! Thought both pairs were fabulous, neither was "the one" for me. I felt a bit bad about this, but she understood and even offered me a lot of information about lenses and more, knowing that I'd be going to my eye doctor to have lenses made. I hope that my review helps direct you to her shop. Her place is a gem of a store and her customer service is excellent. As you can probably tell from this post, I have a hard time choosing and shopping for something this expensive can be a stressful experience for me. I felt it was really important to write a review for Optique de Fleur. Fleur goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best possible glasses. I originally took my 2 year old daughter there because our pediatric ophthalmologist recommended her. They had a fun selection of children's glasses and Fleur was super helpful finding ones that were a good fit for my daughter...not that easy of a task with children. We got glasses from her several times before we moved to Portland, Oregon. While here in Portland, we had a sort of glasses emergency and needed a new pair quickly. Fleur went above and beyond to invoke our scratch warranty on the glasses and got a new pair expedited and shipped to us here in Portland in just a couple of days. I went to optique de Fleur with the recommendation (and a coupon) from my eye doctor. First impression was that the store was out of the way, so i thought Fleur must be doing something right to make a living in such a place (don't we say that in retail location is everything?). I got some silouhette eyeglasses there, plus some Maui Jim sunglasses. Then returned to the place a month later because i lost to the gods of sea my Maui Jim, and Fleur was willing to charge me the same price as last time (they were on sale). All of this came as an expensive purchase, and i could have gone to Cosco or another place, but i feel that the attention and customer service i got was top notch, and that given the type of glasses i was purchasing, i doubt there were going to be a huge price difference (i did not check if Cotsco carry silhouette glasses). With the coupon and the sale on the sunglasses, and the customer support afterwards (like helping readjust the glasses) i think i got a good deal on the price front. On the service front, i thought Fleur did a great job helping me select the right fit for my face shape, and ensure the eye glasses were well positioned. I felt in expert hands in dealing with her. (Only one suggestion to Fleur: when her shop gets very busy she should stay cool, try to focus on one customer at a time, just set expectations as to how long others may have to wait, and not try to help everyone at the same time ;) read more

On a recent Sunday, I tripped on a walk, fell face forward, and broke my frames. A few hours later, I called Fleur to see if she might be in the next day--and she answered the phone on a Sunday night! She told me that she had another set of the same frames in the store, said to come in on Tuesday, and she'd take care of me. And indeed, she did just that. Despite the virus, she was open by appointment, and provided her usual efficient, friendly, savvy service. My husband and I are on a cross country car trip. My husband thought he broke the arm on his glasses. We went to a local mall and the gentleman there said they weren't fixable. He told us the lenses wouldn't fit any of the frames and we needed to buy a whole new set of frames and lenses. We left. We went here and were warmly greeted and we told her our story. One upscale boutique, Lassa Frank was pricey and the opticians were untrained, and inexperienced. As a Kaiser member I could and have tried their services; oh well, they do an okay job however, they are not inexpensive! Fleur Nelson is a complete professional. She knows lenses and how they will fit into the frames you select. She and her assistant are always accomodating, competent and friendly. I found Fleur Opticians on Yelp! I am happy I did. I have been wearing glasses for over 40 years and never really satisfied with the choice of frames some of the vendors peddle--and if you go back say a year or two later to just change the lens, the standard answer is, "Sorry, we don't carry that frame anymore and you'll have to pick out new one's-and we have a deal if you get a second pair." I brought a bag of glasses to Fleur and I wanted a brand new pair plus I would like to see if the 3 pair I brought with me could be re-lensed for (1) computer glasses, (2) distance prescription sunglasses for driving, and (3) another spare. The frames were from different manufacturer's and Fleur had said "Not a problem!" Two weeks later, I picked up my new glasses as promised and I have been wearing for a week and am very happy with the results. When they actually arrived she asked me to wait 24 hours so she could check the prescription against the actual lenses. After some minor fitting adjustments, I was on my way. Some eye doctors will have a side business in their offices to peddle new glasses as a one-stop shop, but the choices are, in my opinion-limited and belong in a suitcase on a corner in Times Square. read more
