I was impressed by the initial energy audit test, it seemed very thorough. A few nights later Jen came out for the consultation. That's when I realized that I paid this company $99 to give me a sales pitch, with prices well above amounts quoted by other companies. Jen was incredibly rude when we told her that we would not be making a decision to spend $15k on improvements on the spot. You would think she would at least provide me with a printed report about my energy usage. Instead I got a sarcastic and rude response when I asked for a copy of my energy report, saying she would email me later because she didn't have a printer with her at the moment. We used FOR Energy to install new windows in our condo. We went from the original 1962 single pane windows to amazing new double pane. The process was smooth and everything was thoroughly explained. Initially, Sean walked through all the options and helped us select the best windows for our home and budget. He outlined the process very clearly both at our home and in the follow up email. The most common complaints I hear about solar companies have to do with dishonesty, no interest from the company in the customer experience after the contract is signed, bad communication, and bad install experience (home damage etc). I heard a Rosie-on-the house show about energy audits and it got me thinking that I should check it out. My girlfriend and I bought our house over a year ago and at the time I knew that we had a house with low insulation. So I put out a request for quotes on yelp for energy audits and FOR energy was the first to respond. Early bird gets the worm. They had Jermaine and Alvin at my house at the scheduled time to do the energy audit. Little did I know that my house was in such bad shape specifically with insulation and duct work. Although I know little about HVAC and what not, the numbers did not lie. I had an intake that fed directly to my crawl space. Ergo, every time the AC kicked on, we were actually changing the temperature of the crawl space as well as the house. FOR energy was good to their word at not only assessing our house needs but also at getting our house more insulated, at drastically improving our ducts and ensuring that when we ran the AC, we were experiencing it, not the crawl space. Their crew cleaned up after themselves and were polite. I also appreciate their expertise. Initially I was told that they were going to put in an additional return for better insulation. But due to the nature of our house (flat roof), they would do a jump duct. I did not know what it was either. But that is the point. I did not need to know and their ability to reevaluate and provide something that would work is perfect for me. My experience with Jeff was great. He was informative and had a clear eye for detail. I feel confident that this group will be able to objectively assess your house situation. For instance, I thought they were going to recommend getting a new AC unit which would have been pricey. They did not. The stated that it was good and it was everything else that was causing the challenges. All in all, I am grateful they reached out to me when I put my request on yelp. I am very impressed. I contacted FOR Energy to assess and optimize my older home, and make it more energy efficient. The team tested the home for leaks, then Dan came out and presented me very detailed results - he spent several hours going over the details of the report, and what things I could hire FOR to do, and what I could do on my own. His approach was very non-salesy, and the fact that FOR utilizes a 3rd party to validate their work post-completion, I was sold! We settled on Aeroseal for the ductwork, sealing the air handler supply box and adding additional layer of insulation. The Aeroseal and sealing of the supply box made dramatic improvements in air-flow in my home, and I'm excited to see how things go with the new insulation! I am very pleased at the recommendations offered and installed by AES. Sean, Jason and Ryan were all courteous, knowledgeable and easy to work with regarding my energy needs. AES recommended the application of foam to my 1952 flat roof block home . I am new to flat roof homes and the accompanied energy inefficiency. I did not even realize foaming roof was an option. The application of Foam has created a much more livable space and I can finally sit in my living room without feeling like I live in a sauna. ( foaming completed by separate company ) The application of eShield window film has been tremendously eye opening. The sun was beating through the window and on it's way to fading my bamboo floors on top of creating a raging fire at each window ( even though windows are energy efficient) So far I film has been installed on half the house and plan on completing by end of year. Yesterday I had Affordable Energy Solutions replace my old aluminum framed Single-pane windows. I just purchased the house about 2 months ago, and as soon as I moved in I knew those had to be the first things I got rid of. I called up these guys and they came out and provided me an incredibly good quote on the window replacement, and also mentioned some other areas of the home that could use improvement for the sake of energy efficiency. There were a lot of other areas that I would never known to look at for saving money. The crew that they sent out to replace the windows were top-notch and I imagine are among the best in the field. This was my first time ever having windows replaced, so I'm no expert, but I just can't imagine the friendliness and professionalism getting any better than it was. I took the day off of work to be home while the windows were installed. Mind you, I had 6 very large custom windows and a typical sliding glass door that all were replaced. NONE of it looked like an easy task, and I never would have considered installing any of the items myself. They certainly knew what they were doing, and worked their butts off to get the job done right. The crew cleaned up after themselves as they went along, and were very methodical. Half the day I could sit there and not even realize that there were workers in my house doing so much work, because they were that efficient. All of the work was completed in one day, which I am sure was a hard day of work for those guys but it was no sweat off my back. So glad I didn't wait until it was 110 degrees outside before doing this. In addition to the excellent workmanship, the quality of the windows that I got installed was better than I expected. The window frames have a sort of design, or style to them that I don't know how to describe. I guess I can say that they just look "Better" than expected. My windows look way better than my neighbors, who look like they had theirs replaced with the run-of-the-mill quality from Home Depot, which would be what you would expect. I like the fact that the windows are made locally here in Arizona, at least the kind I received, and that I supported local business instead of a big box store. read more

Strong start but weak follow-up and possible false advertising and sales tactics. Must read one year complete review Initialization: 3 stars (downgraded due to promises not being honored) Worked with a few vendors on quotes and FE gave the best deal right off the bat (annual production/cost). Door to door guy was very friendly and professional connecting us and informing me on FE practices. Both discussed incentives and guarantees that For Energy would honor. Claims made that sold me vs their competitors: 1. For Energy will handle all the headaches of setup (dealing with installers, getting permits, setups with utility, inspections, etc.) - True 2. your system will be monitored for issues and handled proactively - kind of false. If your system is broken, the installer may act, but not sure, what they certainly wont do is make sure your contracted annual production amount will be met. This was a big sales point for me. The sales people confidently claimed they would not just meet a production amount but likely exceed it just to make the customer happy. 3. "Your system is eligible for state refunds and we'll help you with the info you need to get it" - kinda true. state refund is proving more problematic, they gave me the wrong form and none of the identification numbers like CRS id number. told me to work with an accountant Install: 4 stars (downgraded due to survey claims) Titan did the survey and install. Before hand I was told the best location on my roof but requested an apparently less optimal spot over garage so any future leaks would have minimal impact on the home. I was told the location may be effected by a tree nearby and asked they take that into consideration in the survey. If the survey showed it would impact annual production, then put it where they needed to to meet their promises. I was told the location would be fine given the shallow slope of our roof and how panels would be mounted. This ended up not being true so the surveyer/For energy failed on this front and should have just put it in the original spot like I asked. In the end though, they made it all look clean and well sealed and it worked. FE walked me thru the hardware and basic troubleshoot advice like post storm checks and home insurance updates. Then looked over hardware via teleconference to see final looks. Operation: 2 stars Almost 1 year in and the system is 20% short of contracted annual production. I was told they'd watch for issues and handle it ahead of time but I had to reach out to them and after a month I still hadn't been followed up with beyond the "we will look into it" line. Upon a second corporate request I finally got someone to engage with on the matter. Customer service: 2 stars Everyone I worked with on my setup and that made promises, no longer works there. A company can use temp workers in this manner to falsely advertise then back out as a corporation. They would have probably worked with me had I been able to find evidence. I thought I kept everything in gmail, but since I can't find it, I must have used something else. I know they have a portal site they use a lot so if your chatting over that, print and save everything. I will credit them 2 stars for at least trying to work with me. They offered me a "break even" price which is where I pay a no profit cost to increase production to what they promised up front, but once you lose that trust, its hard to justify letting someone continue to cost you. Last thing I need is second rate rushed installation for example causing damage to the roof or existing hardware, and the system is modular and I could honestly just add on to it myself if I want to later. Lessons Learned: Solar brokers (like For Energy) simplify install process but your local solar installer may do the same steps already, if you have been working with a door to door initiated person, get good records of everything as the long term corp only seems to honor functional hardware and proper install...again though, this is through the solar installer. read more

I recently had For Energy install my solar system. It took 5 months to get my system up and running. Neighbors went with another company, their systems were operational in 2 months. After receiving my first SRP bill I was shocked to find my bill was twice the amount of my previously month's bill (without solar). It seems my solar consultant had recommended a SRP pricing plan with a high demand charge which was not beneficial for my needs. I have also found that my system is only producing two thirds of my energy needs. They should have designed a larger system for my energy usage. After informing them of my disappointment, they said they could upgrade my system by 2KW for an additional $6000 dollars. No thank you. read more

I had a great experience with FOR Energy. Part 1 was and energy audit of my house that included photos and measurements of the various part of my house, including the attic, widows, a/c, a blower test, etc., and then Part 2 was a follow up meeting with Adam to go over the audit. As expected, there were good parts and bad; the bad parts were especially in my attic - YIKES! We talked about a lot of different things I might do to make my house more efficient AND lower my energy costs. Some of these were no brainers, e.g. change to LED bulbs, turn off fans when not in the room, etc. I never felt any pressure by Adam to do anything. FOR Energy's pricing was very reasonable, and I didn't have to wait long until the crew came to do the work, including: adding insulation in the attic, rehanging/straightening my a/c runs, sealing any openings, installing a second return, etc. The installation crew did an excellent job; they were all very professional and knew their craft. As importantly, they did an outstanding job cleaning up. After all the work was completed, FOR Energy ran a new audit, took new pictures, and ran another blower test. In addition to seeing the results of the audit on paper, the entire house now feels more comfortable. (Previously the bedrooms felt hotter than the living room/kitchen.) The person I worked with most when I had questions was Aiden. When I had questions, he quickly responded clearly and completely; he was a total professional. I have had solar panels installed as well as attic duct-work and insulation improvements. In general I am happy that the solar panels are installed, I didn't have to do anything, and they appear to be producing power. I would grant the solar install at 4 stars. As mentioned, I am satisfied that the solar installation was painless. The team was professional and installed the panels without issue. I do have two complaints on the solar installation. First, the communication from FOR Energy was at times spotty. There were a couple months between when I agreed to the solar installation, the building permits were approved, and the system was improved to connect to the grid. During that time I had very little communication with FOR Energy so I was pretty much in the dark the whole time. Obviously behind the scenes, everything was progressing as needed, but I had such little communication for a while that I was starting to feel like I had been scammed. Ultimately things were done and it was no harm no foul. The second issue is it took about a month between when my system was activated and I was able to create an account with solar edge to track it. Again there was little communication during this time to know what was going on. I understand that there may be delays due to the pandemic, but increased communication can go a long ways towards settling concerns. My experience with the duct-work and insulation installation was probably about a 2.5 star hence the 3 star total rating. I am very happy with the end results of the work however I have two very big issues. First, on the day of installation, after the team had already removed all of my duct-work, I was informed that they didn't notice some duct-work that needed to be replaced and had subsequently been underbid. I was informed at that time that I would need to pay $700 more if I wanted my system to work properly. Although I have no doubts that this was an honest miss on the part of FOR Energy, the optics of it are horrendous and come accross as unethical. If you are going to charge an additional $700 on the original contract you need to find a way to do so before my old duct-work is strewn out on my lawn in front of me. The comment of "I know we agreed upon x dollars, but in reality you are going to need to pay x+$700 for the system to actually work" is simply unacceptable if I receive it after the point of no return. How can I possibly turn down the offer while I'm looking at my old ductwork casually strewn out on the gravel in my front yard? The second issue I have is that the team that did the installation wasn't very careful. I was not told to remove items from my wall and didn't even think to do so (perhaps a miss on my part). Unfortunately the thumps from the installation were large enough that they caused things to fall off my walls including an irreplaceable clock that belonged to my grandmother. These two items led to a sub-satisfactory experience with the duct-work and insulation. Like I said originally, the new duct-work and installation has made a noticeable change, but the change in price after the old was torn out and the lack of care from the workers doing the installation keep me from providing any more than 2.5 stars for this portion. read more

After all the updates we've made to the house we were still having energy losses. Brand new windows, solar on the roof etc. We decided to have an energy audit and got in touch with FOR. It was an interesting process to watch and we learned a lot. They were back here within the week to seal up anything that was leaking in the attic and improved our numbers greatly. Sean is part owner of the company, came out, did an audit of how much insulation we had ( which was only 2-3 inches, which should at least be 12.) and made suggestions. We agreed, a time was scheduled, and when the crew arrived, each one shook my hand and introduced themselves, and when all duct work was sealed, and a lot of insulation was blown, they cleaned to the point I never knew they were here.
