I have to say I am FURIOUS with the way things have been handled here. I ordered a pair of shoes online for a photo shoot close to 2 weeks ago. They arrived and were incredibly small (even when purchasing them in a larger size as the site directed me to). So, I sent them back for an exchange. I received an email (no reasoning either) stating that I was being refunded for LESS than the amount of the shoes and shipping combined. They didn't attempt to contact me at all. When I called, they stated that they had none of the shoes left in any color in the size I had asked for. Why was it so hard for them to write that in the email? (bye bye star #1) So, I went online to see what they had that would be comparable. They had the exact same shoe in a fabric instead of leather. Why didn't the salesperson suggest this to me on the phone? Did they give a cuss about making a sale? No! (bye bye star #2) So, I call to ask them to simply exchange the shoe I returned for that one (which they had in the size I needed). They said they would, and the gentleman on the phone also said that he would refund me the shipping charge back to my account because it was an exchange. This NEVER HAPPENED. (bye bye star #3) This is when it got ugly. It was now a full week later, and I still had not received the shoes. They didn't send me any tracking information at all. When I called to tell them that the shoes were useless to me by now, they told me that there was nothing they could do about the missing shoes because they had been signed for. "I didn't sign for them, my delivery man didn't sign for them.. where the cuss were these shoes? And, what the hell do you mean, there's nothing you can do about them? Don't you have insurance?" "I'm sorry mam, but we don't take out insurance on anything under $500". (bye bye star #4). If it was possible to give them 0 stars, I would. The last star went away in my eyes when she left the phone to talk to a supervisor who told her that they could take things up with UPS and POSSIBLY get me a fraction of my money back. So, no matter what, I was paying for this mistake. They obviously didn't want my business from the get go. I should have stopped dealing with them from the moment they were out of the first shoe I needed. I cannot believe I am eating the full cost of a pair of shoes because I was stupid enough to trust a shoe company like Footnotes. I love shoes, and would have been a great customer for them, be it for business or pleasure, but I will never do business with them again! read more

They do not stand by their products. I do not a retailer that does not stand by their private label products. I purchased several pairs of shoes recently and they were not willing to even discuss a solution for one of the pairs that are completely uncomfortable and unwearable. They said go to the shoemaker and see if they can help you. read more

Went in on a whim and the staff was incredibly helpful. They made great suggestions and were very accommodating. Unfortunately one pair didn't work (damn heat and swollen feet LOL) so I brought them back and again, the customer service was fabulous. Highly recommend! read more

Buyers please beware of this company's "Easy Return" policy. The policy claims that they will return any shoe that you purchase as long as they are unworn and credit a full refund. My wife purchased a pair of shoes and tried them on inside. The shoes did not fit so she sent them back. Then, Footnotes refused the shipment claiming that the shoes had been worn outside which was a complete and total lie. They just didn't want to issue the credit and adhere to their own policy that is explicitly stated on their website. This type of behavior is deplorable and unlawful. This is a copy of an email I just sent the company after a horrible conversation with an idiot of a customer sales rep: I just got off the phone with your not very helpful customer service rep. My boot's buckle became undone and is now hanging off the boot. It looks as if the stitching came undone. Given I have had this for just a month I asked her what my options were. She said I should take it to a shoemaker and pay for it myself and I would of thought given they were almost $300 boots you would think first she would be sympathetic of my situation and want the best for your customers and second offer to take them and look at them and replace free of change if need be. Instead she didn't offer help at all, almost sounded annoyed with my problem. I suggested the company should offer to cover a "damaged' cost and she didn't agree to offer to even understand, said ok and hung up the phone. I plan to leave this review online as well and will never buy another item from your company given your horrid customer service. Frye would take these back and replace them with no questions asked, as they have customer service. I only came to this site because you were the only ones that carried my size of this particular boot, and now I know why you were so hard to fine and trust. read more

I have been a customer at footnotes for almost 10 years now. Always so excited to go in and see all the fun shoes! The buyer has great taste and the customer service is just the best! They treat you like family and really love what they do. The parking in the back is nice and easy very convenient. Every few months they have HUGE sales that you can really find great things, if you go early enough to get sizes! Love browsing their website but nothing beats going in and trying the shoe on in person!! read more

I just had a great shopping experience at Footnotes!! The salespeople are friendly and very helpful with suggesting styles. Realy nice environment. I went in for snow boots and left with great snow boots but also booties that I know I will wear with everything. They have a great selection of Aquatalia- which if you have never worn Aquatalia go check them out! They are stylish and waterproof- i got a pair of booties with a heel that i can wear all winter and still look good. I'm so surprised to see the other reviews on this page...I had such a great experience with Footnotesonline I received the Tory Burch Calista boot as a Christmas gift. Naturally my boyfriend got the size wrong. But I loved the boot so much! When I called customer service they were extremely helpful in recommending the correct size as well as how to proceed with my exchange. My boyfriend didn't include the receipt or anything with my gift, so they immediately sent me a replacement and a return label. I live in Connecticut and the day after I sent the boots back, my exchange was sent to me. I had the perfect fit two days later! The turnaround was amazing and the customer service rep was so nice! I will be doing much more shopping with Footnotesonline in the future. read more

I hard hear about Footnotes from several of my girlfriends and just went for the first time this weekend. First of all, the service was great! I was warmly welcomed and the cute girls that work there helped me pick out a new winter boot. They had a very big selection and were very helpful in helping me decide which pair to pick. There are not pushy at all, unlike the sales people at most nice stores. They said if I didn't love the pair I could bring them back to get totally refunded which is great since I tend to be indecisive. I will definitely go back for my next pair of shoes. Doesn't hurt that owner is very cute and charming too! read more

Ok, now some of you may wonder why I'm giving this store 4 stars based on what I"m going to say. This company has a few locations in New Jersey and an online shop. Keep in mind their online shop, although they ship nationwide does not appear to have a live inventory program. Barneys also does not have this either. Sometimes when purchase from sites like this you are not always guaranteed that the product you ordered will be in stock. Ok with that said, I placed an order over the weekend for some Ash sneakers. I received a confirmation email right away but on monday I contacted them via online live chat to check on my order. Since this is a small company they didnt have access to my information right away and said they were very backed up in the warehouse with orders from the weekend and that they would be in touch with me as soon as they knew about my order because apparently the shoes I purchased had low quantities and they werent sure if they were available any longer. They said that if they were sold out I would receive an email apologizing and offering 20% off my next order. Once they determined that my shoes were no longer available, I got a personal phone call from a rep in the store apologizing for the error. She said she wanted to apologize personally over the phone rather than send an impersonal email. She just sent me my 20% discount as well which I'm sure I'll use for something else. They have a nice selection of high quality shoes. I have no problems at all with this store. Keep in mind, they are small and do not have a live inventory system obviously. Footnotes does not offer free shipping or returns and for that reason I will not be making any more purchases from them. The shoes were $120 and it cost me $6.95 for shipping and another $6.95 to send them back, a total waste of money. Shipping should be free. read more

Terrible customer service. I ordered a pair of shoes, and they billed me 4 times for one pair, which overdrafted my card. They said it was my fault for trying to order it 4 times after receiving an error message (card failed to process-- sounds like a system problem, right? so i tried again) since my billing details were wrong. I verified my billing address with footnotes AND my bank, and both addresses were the same. The woman i talked to on the phone was such a condescending bitch and was more concerned with her company not being 'at fault' than trying to solve the problem at hand. I canceled my order and would never order again. Apparently you can try to order shoes 4 times, be billed, and then told its your fault for having the wrong billing details so the order doesn't go through in their system. They're terrible and I see lots of people have had the same experiences. read more
