Just finished using these guys for remodeling 2 of my bathrooms. I have never done any remodeling and am a first time home owner so when I walked in I was in complete shock at the amount of different tile offered. I worked with Geoff from the get go and he was very patient. He knew my budget and even though it was pretty low I feel like I got service that warranted an order ten times what I got. I eventually saw a floor tile pattern I liked on a tv show, took a picture and took that to Geoff and he along with the rest of the team, helped me and my wife design the rest of the bathroom around that tile I liked. Their team is very nice and accommodating and they did a few drawings for me so I could visualize the tile in my space and they even troubleshooted a few issues I had in some design places. Tile arrived quickly after ordering and pricing was similar to others that I even saw online. I was more than happy to keep the business local, especially with great service. I was already looking to re-do my dining room floors and knew the design and concept of what I'd like to achieve. Wanting a flagstone material, Vincent suggested another similar type of material for in door usage and it worked well. My review is based on experiencing the La Canada store. Admittedly, our job is extremely small. But the salesperson (as a minor courtesy I will exclude her name) definitely didn't want to waste her time. She was helpful initially and was going to check around to find our tile match. After hearing nothing for 8 days, we stopped in for an update. She acted as if she had done some checking but had no information to offer other than that it was difficult to find. Her demeanor was also quite different from our first meeting. Fast forward 3 weeks and still no contact from her. Had there been any contact, I would happily have told her I found it online in 10 minutes, ordered samples and subsequently tiles needed for the job. This is the second time that we've used Foothill Tile and Stone and we've been pleased both times. Most recently, we were looking for tile for our fireplace surround and really had no idea what would look good in our living room. We showed a picture of our fireplace to AnneMarie and she directed us to a few options that she thought would work for us. When she found out that the size of bullnose tile that we wanted to place around the fireplace opening was out of stock, she offered to replace it with a larger bullnose for the same price. We're thrilled with how the fireplace turned out and the larger bullnose tile looks much better than what we had in mind. Remodeled three bathrooms in my SGV home this summer. Went to Foothill Tile first last spring. But Jeff in the Pasadena store stopped returning my emails and phone calls. Guess I asked too many stupid questions, but the whole process was new to me (now I could write a book). Ended up going to the manufacturers directly via my contractor at his suggestion. Turns out DalTile, Bedrosians, Crystal Stone, etc. all have SoCal company stores! So, with the contractor's discounts, I ended up getting over $6K worth of tile and countertop products that would've been much more expensive from any retailer (at least 40%, no kidding). 3 Months ago I got this email from the owner of the store - (More excuses.) Dear Ms. xxxx, On reading your yelp review and also reading your other reviews of others in our industry, we would like to respond to your complaint. I did some enquires with my salespersons and both remember your presence in the showroom vividly. Both acknowledge that they were working with clients when you entered the showroom and as I am sure you understand it would have been extremely impolite to the existing client to drop everything to turn around and assist another customer that just entered the showroom. Both salespersons said they did greet you as they worked with their clients. You worked with Annette, she said she found what you were looking for and wrote up a quote for you. The reason she needed to double check on the stone and grout coverage is that she had just started her employ with us. Indeed, it was her fourth day on the job so rather than give you incorrect information, she rightly went and double checked the information with the owner. As to her sales technique, as I said she is a new employee and I will most certainly address this issue with her and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. It was a particularly busy day that day and we sincerely apologize that you felt we did not get to you in a timely matter. We carry a quality product and you were quoted for such. If you had said you were working within a budget range, we most certainly would have come up with something to suit your needs. Annette and the other guy. This is no way to do business. If you are short handed, have another staff working on a Saturday. Under staffing will only burn your business reputation. Veronica spent a good amount of time going over various options with my wife and I, helping us with design, and even drew up plans for our installer. After we chose our tile, a good amount of time passed because the person installing our bathroom tile had another job. When we contacted Veronica again, she had to spend additional time getting back up to speed, and then we made some additional requests, and still she was 100% accommodating. When I visited the store to pay for the tile, she made additional edits to the plans we were giving the installer based on questions I had. And, she texted with me to answer some questions my wife and I had about measurements and questions our installer had about using sealer with the stone we chose. We had a very positive experience throughout. By the way, we did make an appointment for our first consultation because when we went in on a Saturday the salespeople were all helping people and a couple of people were waiting their turn. We could have waited, but we made an appointment for a weeknight. I've been back a number of times since for our project and sometimes the salespeople are free at their desks, other times they are helping people. These folks are spending time not only giving you information about the tile/stone, but they are also helping each customer with design, install questions, etc., which takes time. Either way, I don't think it's fair for one of the Yelpers here to complain he dropped in the store unannounced and the staff did not drop whoever they were helping and ignore people waiting to assist him simply because he was not willing to wait his turn. Based on a strong recommendation from a Designer we in good-faith bought about $4700 worth of tiles from Foothill tile and my wife even paid full upfront. Big mistake! We did a nearly $100K kitchen remodeling project and have to say out of the dozens of vendors we had for the project Foothill Tile features way down in the bottom by a huge negative margin! First we had issues with so called iridescent tiles that actually only cost about $266 (before shipping/tax) turned out to be not good. We placed the order sometime in September, paid full upfront. After some 3 or 4 weeks sometime in October the tiles came. It didnt match the sample we had seen at store. So we took the tile we had received to store to compare with the store sample we had seen. They gave us a story that the sample was missing! How convenient. They would not take the tile back either. They said the tile will look fine once it is used inside. In December when we got ready for the tiles we again saw the same issue. The tiles just did not look like the sample we had seen. We again asked our designer to talk to Foothill Tile about it. We asked them if they would take back the bad tiles and give us refund for the $266 (5% of what we paid them) They said NO! They refused to even acknowledge there was a problem with the tile. Since this tile is integral to completing rest of the tile design the entire project had to be put on hold. So we decided to order a different kind of tile but we did not want to go to Foothill tile. Story gets even worse - later when we went to a different tile place, their competition, and found out that not only we had bad customer service experience Foothill tile actually also overcharged us. We ordered the same kind of tile, different shade of color, from tis other place for $257 (including tax/shipping) while from Foothill the same cost us $266+shipping/tax (another $26 or so) = $292! Also we placed order for another set of tiles we were short. Again these were exactly same we got from Foothill and for this order including shipping we paid $364 while for the same quantity at foothill we were charged about $495! If we had ordered the full order from this other place we would have saved about $1K on a $4700 order, i.e., over 21%. Foothill Tile were supposed to give us a Designer discount which they conveniently didnot. When we realised that we had been overcharged we asked them for credit in good faith for what we overpaid. They wont give us that either! read more

the purchasing of the tile was the easy part, unfortunately the saleswoman led me astray with information about the type of tile I was purchasing. My installer straightened me out. Not the end of the world until I tried to return the unused, unopened, perfectly brand new tile. "NO way, Not a chance, Never ever do we do returns", Are you kidding me? Now I am stuck with hundreds of dollars worth of tile that i would have happily exchanged for ones I could use. Seems to me its basic good business, good will, and only fair. Be prepared to make the perfect choice the first time (anyone who has done some reno knows the chances of that are slim )or better yet take your business to one o the many tile and stone stores that actually allow for the fact that on occasion the tile you buy isn't quite perfect and that on occasion a return is in order. I have done many tile jobs almost all of which have gone smoothly and without issue, I was excited to be able to find a great store close by. Oh well looks like I'm going to have to drive a bit further to be treated with respect as a paying customer. As I just purchased almost $7000 worth of tile elsewhere seems like they smart thing to do would have been to simply let me return the product for what i needed to make my home perfect. D read more

I found this place when I needed some trim tile for a bathroom project. The contractor forgot to tell me it was needed until the very last minute, so I had to find something fast. They went out of their way to help me, even though I only needed about 6' of plain white trim. We are not talking a crazy amount of high end tile! The place we had originally gotten tile from was a big place in the valley our contractor directed us to. They are well known, and quite truly huge. That was the problem - once we found a salesperson there, and she realized we were just a little bathroom remodel, she wasn't really interested in helping us, and didn't pay attention to the details of the project - like trim tiles, or which way the double bullnose would sit. Foothill's staff, by comparison, was professional, helpful, and even had what we really needed in stock. Their showroom is well organized and they carry anything/everything you could ever want! We have one more bathroom to do, and I will definitely be going back to Foothill for the tile! read more

I need tile for a kitchen remodel and stopped in there one Thursday afternoon about 3pm. I helped myself around their great showroom and found a couple of perfect options. While there were several guys "working" in the store, I was told only 1 person (Veronica) could actually help me to get pricing. Mind you....all I needed was a SF price on two stones (how hard can it be!). I waited about 35 minutes and there were still two customers who were swarming her waiting for help so I interrupted and asked if I could email her what I needed a price on...she said sure and "thanks for your patience." I emailed her on Thursday around 5pm. I sent photos of two different tiles so that there would be no confusion about what I wanted. I didn't hear from her on Friday or Saturday so Sat. I resent the email. I didn't hear from her Sunday or Monday so Tuesday I called. She apologized for the delay and promised to get right to it (but never specified when I would have the quote). I didn't receive a price from her until Wednesday morning. She clearly didn't have "time" to read my email b/c she only sent the price of one of the tiles I requested. Naturally, I will not be ordering from Foothill Tile & Stone b/c I have zero confidence and I don't have the time to deal with the slow service. I am building a brand new home in the San Gabriel Valley. My neighbor recommended me to go visit Foothill Tile and Stone company and talked to the owner Vincent. I went to the store last March and what I great choice I made by going to Foothill Tile and Stone company. Vincent is extremely knowledgeable and is down to earth. He spent lots of time with me and my wife and gave us many ideas in designing the bathrooms, kitchen, entry foyer, and laundry room. Vincent is a genius in tile and stone design and he is also extremely honest with his pricing. FTS and Mission Tile West are probable the two biggest tile and stone company in the San Gabriel Valley and I can tell you FTS gives much better service. Vincent is very efficient in giving excellent ideas and it turns out every single suggestion he made for us is an excellent decision. Vincent's tile and stone design probably increase tens of thousands of dollars in our home value and every professional that came to our house thought highly of all the tile and stone work. We are almost at the end of our project and we are needing the last design on the fireplace. I called Vincent last week and asking for a design and he is at our house the next morning doing measurement and the same afternoon he sent us the detail design. I can honestly tell you that there is no better tile and stone shop in the San Gabriel Valley beside FTS company. Vincent is not only an honest businessman he is also an excellent designer. By going to FTS you not only getting a competitive price on tile and stone material but also an expert designer.
