We come here fairly often for the black bean burger, which we love as veg folks. Over the years we've had several servers but we have had repeated exceptional experiences with Noah. Prompt, attentive, with great attention to detail. The food here is probably great, but I wouldn't know. I made a reservation online through Open Table 3 days in advance for Easter Sunday, only to be turned away when we arrived. The waitress that stopped us at the door advised us that we couldn't have a reservation because they had shut off that capability in their system to prevent anyone from making a reservation. When I showed her my confirmation of the reservation, she stated that she would seat us and we *might* be able to get food if we *hurried up and ordered fast*, because the kitchen staff was leaving. She was not kind, understanding, or apologetic in the least, and we were offered absolutely nothing for the waste of time but a look of impatience. Luckily, the restaurant next door was more than willing to SEAT AND SERVE us, even though they were closing early as well. So, if you want some incredibly delicious food from some pretty awesome people, find this place, and then go next door to their competition. read more

Foolish Craig's is a great hole-in-the-wall place just east of the Pearl Street pedestrian mall in Boulder, CO. FC has a great dinner menu with plenty of interesting American style foods. My favourite is the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich. Portions are more than adequate, and always delicious. The atmosphere is very family oriented even though the bar takes up the whole north wall of the restaurant. The wait staff is always cheerful and friendly. They tend to remember us even if we don't stop by for a couple months. It's nice. Expect to spend about $30 for two people to have dinner, more if you take wine with your meal. Weekend breakfast is very crowded at Craig's, but week-night dinner doesn't seem to be packed as much (no wait before 7p). read more

Started with the crab & sweet corn cakes which were nice but not outstanding. The big disappointment was with my entree, the BBQ pear stuffed chicken breast. Really excellent service and top-notch food. For appetizer, the fried brussel sprout leaves were a crispy with a nice mix of salty and sweet. We had the Chicken Duxelle Crepe and Veggie Crepe. Both had great flavor. The Veggie had a Thai flavor with a peanut sauce and the Duxelle was really rich and hearty with the chicken and mushrooms. I would order either again. Came a couple times in a large group and with the variety of food ordered everyone left with a twinkle in their eyes and a smile on their face. The portion sizes on some of the meals are just insane. Came in here for Lunch after a trip to Boulder. Great burger joint but not much more than that. Did have a great selection of bourbons and got super excited when I saw they made their own version of an old fashion but was dissapointed when I heard they didn't have certain ingredients to make it. I had the Foolish Craig crepe, I wasn't impressed. First of all the portion is HUGE! Definitely something you could easily share. The majority of the dish is the saute'd veggies/bacon inside the crepe and then two tiny eggs on top. I felt the stuff inside was overpowering and it would have been better on a smaller scale and mixed in with the eggs maybe scrambled and stuffed in the crepe. It also would have been nice with a fresh element like avocado. I also ordered a spicy bloody mary since they have a sign on the wall best bloody mary in the west. I wasn't impressed with the bloody mary either, I love bloody marys and this was nothing special. The place is small. Service was good, our waitress was very nice. She forgot to bring out the brie appetizer (this was really good btw) so she gave it to us free. I would try it again. read more

Had about a half hour wait on a Sunday morning. Had the corned beef hash and eggs, had huge chunks of corned beef, bread was whole wheat homemade. Also ordered two crepes with syrup, they were very good. Very close to Moms!! I would definately order either dish again. Foolish huervos were so huge could hardly make a dent. This place has DELICIOUS and nutritious food. The service was well paced and the atmosphere was really nice with beautiful artwork on the walls. A Boulder staple for breakfast. I had a bacon bloody Mary which was excellent to start my breakfast off. them for breakfast I had the Frenchie Toast with fresh strawberries and a wonderful cup of coffee. You have to get there early on the weekends because it does get crowded. The good thing the service is excellent and they move people in and out quick. read more

I asked our waiter what he recommended for a sandwich and he said the they have the best Reubens in town. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. Love this place! I got their turkey and pesto sandwich on rye with a side salad and their house vinaigrette. SO GOOD! Next time I'll probably get the half sandwich and salad combo cuz it was a little much for me to finish. Very light-tasting and the salad was wonderfully zesty. The atmosphere is fast and the background noise of the kitchen and the employees playfully ribbing each other makes it a fun place to pop in for lunch. read more

We have lived in Boulder for twenty years. We've raised our kids here and have been coming here ever since. Other places come and go and Foolish Craigs is always great, reliable food. But it keeps getting better!?!? I think their breakfast is one of the best in Boulder. OMG the maple pecan stacked crepe thing is the best thing I've put in my mouth since.... IDEK. The vibe is very Boulder and it's a comforting place. We have eaten at the new, trendy place, east down the street. The one with the line going out the door. Ridiculous- their foods not all that great, just Enormous portions.... wasteful, if you ask me. They are just a pancake house. Foolish Craigs has great food all day long, and the fact that they are solely a breakfast place distracts people from how good their breakfast is. I saw an episode of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives last Friday and Foolish Craigs was featured with their 21 layer Butter Rum Crepes Cake. I decided to take a chance to see if I could order the entire cake for a very special treat for a very, very special person (check off a bucket list item). Chris took my order and Mitch bent over backwards to make it happen... Overnight miracle that Mitch did without me asking. If anyone goes to Foolish Craigs, you must enjoy this desert topped in warm caramel sauce. It is dynamite and worth every penny. What amazed me the most is how everyone was so helpful. Boulder, CO is a bit far for me to drive to pick up this sinfully yummy treat from Illinois, but when Mitch offered to help me out, I was dumbfounded. The staff was wonderful and polite. We were visiting and had seen the DDD episode, so we decided to try it. I have visited other DDD locations and all were very good. This one was eehhh?? Some good, some bad, some adequate. Good...We started with the Brie with pear/apple marmalade which was yummy. Mussels were good as well. My wife had the steak medallions with Balsamic reduction which were prepared well and the sauce was delicious, but potatoes and asparagus were mediocre. Daughters had Philly cheese and Sliders, both good. Bread was really good. Bad...I had the crepe with chicken and mushrooms...bland at best, broccoli and spanish rice. Flavors didn't go well together. Son had the chicken Marsala and the chicken tasted freezer burned. Dessert was crepe w/ caramel rum sauce. Really yummy. Service was slow, but adequate. Overall, it wasn't up to DDD reputation. May go back to try breakfast someday, but not a MUST try. read more

Foolish Craig's is classic Boulder with an eclectic decor and menu. The breakfast menu was unpretentious but a bit unpredictable. For instance I've never had broccoli with my huevos before but it worked. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. All in all, a good breakfast. read more

Located on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, Colorado, Foolish Craig's is a cozy restaurant with a menu that packs variety. This small restaurant uses local ingredients to make each meal from scratch fresh to order. These details that went into making my meal were instantly noticeable as I took a bite out of my chicken salad with sun dried cranberries and walnuts sandwich. Their award winning bread did not disappoint; I ordered whole wheat with my sandwich, and it was the perfect ratio of soft to crunchy. The bread had a mustard spread that would've seemed to clash with the other ingredients, but the sweetness from the cranberries complimented the hot, bitter taste from the mustard very well. While I was enjoying this magnificent sandwich, the staff did a wonderful job at making me feel comfortable. I wasn't greeted by a host or hostess, but I was received with a smile by the bartender; she let me know that I could seat myself. Shortly after, my server came to take my order. She was courteous and perceptive; she never let my glass of water stay empty, made sure I was accommodated with everything I wanted, and didn't bother me too much while I was eating. . I visited this restaurant during lunch hours and I might have spent 30 to 40 minutes there, so it's not a bad place to go for a quick lunch. When I got my bill I saw that my total was only $9.20, which was more than reasonable to me, so I left a generous tip. I left Foolish Craig's with a great impression. The only hang-up I would say they have is that because of the relatively small size of the place they only have one unisex bathroom. It probably becomes a problem when the place gets busier, but it seemed to be kept clean. Aside from this, Foolish Craig's has a fast and friendly staff, and the prices aren't outrageous. If you're into eating healthy, a locavore, or just want a delicious meal, then you too might enjoy stopping for a bite or drink at Foolish Craig's. read more
