I just returned to the Gladstone/Queen FreshCo to return the Piller's Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich packets I bought yesterday. My daughter noticed it was slimy and smelled bad when she opened it. The best before expiry date was September 28, 2023--3-1/2 weeks past due. I returned it and spoke with the manager who inspected my sales receipt from yesterday, October 22, 2023. He didn't say much other than I should exchange it at the checkout. I asked how this happens and he said the part time staff probably missed it. I went to get a replacement and found ANOTHER EXPIRED packet from September 28! When I showed it to him he shrugged and said the dates are actually suggestions. I raised my voice when I assured him the meat was slimy and smelled bad and he was minimizing a problem. It was a health concern. He asked me to leave.

Grabbed some ground pork and the woman behind the meat counter was pleasant. The ethnic aisles were impressive. Coming from the United States. It was refreshing to see labels on the products that stated items that were high in sugar or high in saturated fat, etc. Makes it think twice about consuming. Before heading over there, I like to get most of my errands out of the way, which includes getting groceries. The closest FreshCo by the movie theatre is this one on Major MacKenzie Drive, just west of Leslie Street. Why do I like this store? - You can earn Scene points on everything - Prices are decent, especially if you are targetting sales every week - The produce is fresh The only thing that can be tricky is that you do need a quarter to use the cart. I sometimes have change. I sometimes don't have any. I have had a quarter once out of my two times shpping here. I ended up using a basket when I didn't have any change, which was fine. I only needed a few items. The produce is excellent. I had the best strawberries here. They were ripe and in pristine condition. The celery was in great condition too. The apples in bags are also competitively priced and are yummy. The only downside that I saw were eggs in cartons. Many of them were broken. I don't know if it's due to customers or if the eggs were broken in the first place. It was a bit of a downer trying to find a decent dozen. I was unsuccessful and ended up getting a carton at Shoppers Drug Mart. I like the frozen food section. The more carbs involved, the more interest I have. I have had the paratha stuffed with potatoes and plain ones. Both heated up so nicely in a hot skillet. I've also had garlic naan, which was perfectly yummy. I've had the pork and chive potstickers. They were excellent, too. I've seen steamed buns that I'd like to try next. Prices seem to hold for weeks. The Pillsbury Pizza Pops have been at $3 for a box of four when you buy three boxes. You save practically two dollars per box and take advantage of getting the Old El Paso beef and cheese taco, which is excellent. It was this price both times that I was there. I hope that the deal is still around. The cereal aisle is cool. I have seen everything from strawberry milkshake Frosted Flakes, to Cinnamon Toast Crunch Minis. I like variety and seeing what sugary flavours are out there. I've had friendly cashiers at this grocery store. Getting my Scene barcode on my phone scanned has never been an issue. I've also paid with a credit card both times. Easy peasy. It's a clean supermarket. The parking lot does get a bit busy, but I've always been able to find parking. (202)

I absolutely LOVE Loblaws. I go shopping there every day. I buy chicken or fish, vegetables like…read morebroccoli or zucchini and sour dough bread. It's a divine meal. I've tried some of the pre marinated chicken and it's better than any restaurant could serve. If you go at lunch time I highly recommend the sushi. It's very fresh. I eat it almost every day. They also have amazing cheese. I try not to eat too much cheese but it's hard to resist the cheese at Loblaws! Cheddar and Brie are the best to go with the fresh sour dough bread. You can eat very well at Loblaws, you don't need to spend a lot of money on a solid meal. I highly recommend shopping for food at Loblaws. My son eats yoghurt and granola for breakfast every morning. There are so many kinds of healthy granola that we try a different kind every two weeks!

I started shopping at this location of No Frills on an occasional basis early in 2019 but following…read morethe onset of the Pandemic in March 2020 I began coming more frequently; usually once a week but sometimes I'll skip a week. No Frills appears much cleaner, brighter and thereby more welcoming compared to it's previous appearance, which is going back many years. The large store features a wide variety of food and other products on offer and I can't complain about the prices, and even less so about the frequent sales on quite a few items that I buy on a regular basis. I'm quite impressed by No Frills' efforts at maintaining a safe environment in which to shop in light of COVID: a quoue to enter due to a max. no. of Customers allowed inside at one time, directional stickers on the floor, plexiglass at the checkout counters and of course hand sanitizers at the main entrance/exit and mask requirements for Staff and Customers. I fully intend to continue shopping at this location on a regular basis.

Tip: This supermarket is by the food court…read more I was at Sino Mall last Wednesday. I passed by this Al Premium Food Mart to get to the food court. After having an early dinner, I remembered that I needed wonton wrappers and decided to get some from this supermarket. It's a large Asian supermarket that has Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Thai products, and more. It also features a European aisle with Milka, so I've probably missed some countries. It has a nice plant section featuring plants that are fairly easy to maintain. Prices are decent. The meat section looked fresh and vast. Same with the seafood section. It was cool seeing an assortment of Japanese curry cubes. Canisters of chicken powder flavouring were also in abundance. This place has a decent snack section. From beef jerky to shrimp-flavoured chips, I was happy seeing so much variety. The produce and fruit sections looked great. Everything looked healthy and fresh. I particularly enjoyed looking at Thai bananas. I found the wonton and dumpling wrappers. There was an extensive assortment to choose from. I probably spent a good two minutes trying to figure out which brand and shape I wanted. I went with traditional square wonton wrappers that had roughly fifty of them. I enjoyed looking at the drinks that this store has. It has Itoen tea beverages, which I love. I got the yuzu green tea to try. The ramen and pho section was great. I got a package of pho. This store has pandesal and lumpia next to the mooncakes. It's such a delightful blend of products from different cultures. I hit the checkout area and got a helpful woman who asked if I needed a bag. I was okay carrying my three items out the door. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. I thanked her and left. I put my items in my car before I got a couple of drinks and snacks from Xe Kem, and CoCo. My receipt had Oriental Food Mart on it. My guess is that it used to be Oriental Food Mart and no one bothered to change it when the company became Al Premium. I enjoyed shopping here. It was a relaxed setting. This was one of our main stops to load up on gluten free treats years ago until gluten free before came more commonplace. I picked up dark chocolate covered nuts, dairy free candies, and some specialty chocolates for my wife and teen. A very large selection of product and caters to both the observant and the gentile, such as myself. Friendly store, good hours, and lots of good and varied product.

For instance, I am not familiar with red wines but as I was standing in front of the selections of Ontario wines, feeling lost, a staff who handpicks the wines for Sobeys approached me and offered his recommendations based on my needs. Also, the cashier would actually talk about something other than greeting me with a courteous but empty "how are you?" The produce there is fresh, and other items are easy to find. I like how the baby food and supplies section is separated in the same section as he pharmacy, making it easier to locate items. The only thing I feel they lacked was a wider selection of organic produce. I also found the price a bit steeper than others, so be sure to check out any promos before going.

We were hosting a party and came to Sobeys to buy balloons. Along with the balloons we purchased in-store, I politely asked the lady if she could also help inflate a few balloons we brought ourselves. I even offered to pay for the service. Her response? A flat-out "No," delivered with a tone so cold it felt like I was asking for a personal favor instead of being a paying customer. When I asked why, she simply said, "We don't take responsibility." I asked what kind of responsibility she meant -- she had no answer. She just repeated that they couldn't do it. Her attitude was downright unpleasant. She even told me to "go to Canadian Tire, they'll do it." Honestly, the entire interaction felt like I owed her money or had done something wrong, when all I did was make a simple, reasonable request -- as a customer who had just made a purchase, no less. Well, I did go to Canadian Tire. And guess what? Their service was fantastic. They gladly helped inflate all the balloons -- including the ones I brought -- and their prices were better too. The exact same balloons were cheaper there. So here's my advice: If you're preparing for a birthday party and need balloons, go straight to Canadian Tire. You'll be met with friendly service and fair prices. But if you go to this Sobeys and happen to run into that same grim-faced lady, be prepared to have your day -- and possibly your child's special day -- completely ruined.
