As a vegan, this place was a miss for me. We came for breakfast because I read reviews from other vegans saying there were a few options. They didn't have the tofu scramble in the Grab & Go. So when we went to order, I asked if they had any vegan options, and they asked me what that meant. I said I wanted something made without animal products, and they recommended the Fonte scramble. So that's what I ordered and asked for no cheese and a side of potatoes. It arrived with scrambled eggs. You may think I should have known that and it was my fault, but I specially asked for an animal-product free option and that's what I was told I could have. We also got the avocado toast, which was tasty enough, and two steamed vanilla almond milks. It wasn't too busy when we went, but we waited quite a long time for our food. This is one of my favorite coffee places in Seattle. And given how many there are, that is saying something. I love the casual vibe of this specific location and how friendly the staff is. Customer Service. Demonstrated knowledge of coffee, friendly, willing to share insight on other cafes which provide brewed-on-demand options. +1. Hours. Open at 7 am. Compared to nearby cafes this is a welcome time. Background. Let me cut to the quick. Downtown Seattle is $#!t for parking between 6 and 9 am. For starters? They don't allow parking on 1st Avenue during those hours. Then, there are the numerous commercial parking spots, temp. drop-off spots, and temporary work areas. So yeah, I'd suggest if you come here, you either are a pedestrian staying nearby, or are using public or rideshare transportation. Because, unless you find street parking, you're looking at around $20 at most large paid parking lots! Now, with that stated, Fonte's cafe is welcoming with subdued lighting, plenty of seating, and numerous drink options. The entrance is accessible by those with or without accessible needs. Those needing a ramp are covered also. Standing in line, there is a large, digital, menu board, to your left which provided numerous drinks including classic espresso-based, drip of the day, along with french press and clever pour (e.g. kinda like pour over) options. Queued up, I was able to order a clever brew with their Sumatra, which was poured in a 12-ounce format. The barista also went to the trouble of reminding me the wait, around 10 minutes for the coffee to be finished. During the wait, the overhead audio was at a level that some might find aggressive. But, I didn't find it burdensome. The cafe even took the meaningful step of putting up sound mats in key parts of the cafe. As far as roasters go, this is probably the total package. This is the first roaster that didn't deny me a brewed-on-demand option, of my choice. Finally, I can't speak to most of the drink menu. But, what I can say, is my coffee was hot, bold, and rewarding. As always, your individual will vary. read more

Would recommend perhaps placing a menu near the entry so that you don't have to look like you're cutting the line when trying to peer at the menu. Personally, I need more time to view a menu to make a decision and this left me feeling rushed at the check out. We ordered two sandwiches but didn't realize it didn't have any lettuce and tomatoes since we felt rushed during the ordering process. First you have to clear off the huge pile of arugula, then a layer of very soggy tomato and underneath a thin layer of avocado concoction. They had the best egg Benedict at a good price around. It came with traditional hollandaise,a side salad and freshly browned potatoes. Today they improvise a bacon for salmon on the bene. The muffins were cold and not toasted. No salad but, arugula was thrown over the plate. I am not sure where the hollandaise was and asked for more. The potatoes were a shame. Pale, oily and cold. It's located right next to the four season hotel near Pike Place. It's definitely convenient place to grab coffee/breakfast/lunch. The floor and chairs were dirty more than I expected as our puppy's brand new white diaper completely got dark! So don't wear any nice clothes. Unless you are looking for a cup of coffee to fool your brain to think you've had rotisserie chicken with coffee, we would not recommend it. We got kicked out from this coffee shop before we were able to order lunch because our puppy (usually super quiet) didn't stop whimpering for some reasons.
