I went in for an eye exam and the process was smooth, even as a first timer. I ordered new glasses and they came in on time within the expected 3 weeks. Overall it's a nice small shop and I'll be going back again in the future read more

I got referred here by my cousin. It's a very convenient optometry for us. This is our third year continuing service with them. Friendly Staff every time we come and over the phone. The shop is clean and professional. They have variety of glasses and sunglasses for sale. They do take majority of eye insurance, you can call them and check. The only problem I have with this optometry is that they barely pick up the phones; you'll have to call multiple times to try to get through to someone. I left messages but that didn't help. Overall I would recommend due to the fast service. We barely have to wait to be seen. read more

Very professional and very knowledgeable. Great staff there to help with whatever your needs are.

My support of this business coincides with my appreciation factor overall. Covid slowed tbings down ranging from the eyewear makers to the distribution personnel. 2 years later,im told 2-3 weeks tops will be expection date . To say 5 stars is not enough is being realistic, highly appreciated along with my recommendations to any and all. V.L.SWAIN, 2000-22 read more

Do not come here unless you want to get scammed! I came here a few months ago to get my contact lens fitted and then had to come back over and over again for a span of 4 months because they fit terribly. The doctor ignored the fact that I have dry eyes and prescribed me monthlies. After having extreme discomfort, she is making me pay an extra 90 dollars just to change from monthlies to dailies even though I recently came to her office to get fitted in the first place. read more

This office is a SCAM! I went here for my contact lenses exam which cost me 90 dollars. I had to go in 5 separate times until they finally got my prescription right. Dr. Tillman was just guessing my prescription numbers and gave me the most uncomfortable experience there. I told her my prescription was bad and she said, "Oh, I'll just add some numbers then." I did not pay 90 dollars for an optometrist to guess my eyesight. She avoided all my contact lens questions and ignored my stigmatism. I was told I could confirm my contact prescription the fifth time since it was correct and they would send my prescription. However, it had been more than a month since I wanted to confirm my prescription because the doctor was out of town and they kept saying they would leave a note. It has been more than a month since I called and I have called every single week, yet the doctor is still out of town? I am confident they will probably never give me my prescription and that I wasted more than 4 months trying to get my prescription without avail. If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I definitely would. read more

I'm switching optometrists after what happened today. I had a 3:30 appointment just to fill out one document and I was told that I would have to come in another day because they close at 5:00. It's crazy how I came in at 3:15 and these other patients who came in after me were seen first! I set this appointment up weeks in advance and now I have to reschedule. I've also noticed a very high turnover rate in their optometrists. I've been here 3 times now and each time it's been a different doctor. Don't waste your time or money coming to this place, there's probably better optometrists elsewhere. read more

Always a bad experience here. I took my sister in law here for a 3:45 PM eye examination and they took ALL of the other walk ins before her. She was literally the last patient they saw 45 MINUTES AFTER her appointment and 4:30. This was only after her sister asked them if she is going to be seen soon because they close at 5:00. The staff was not very helpful either, they were sitting around talking and pretty much every other client had left the examination room but she was still not seen until they were reminded of her presence. Absolutely ridiculous read more

It has been over three weeks since I placed my order for contact lens testers. Currently, I'm experiencing difficulty with my vision, and despite reaching out to Focus Optometry multiple times, there seems to be uncertainty about the cause of the delay. This is the first time I've encountered such an issue, every time I call the workers give me a attitude even tho I payed they can't even even tell me how long I'ma have to wait just for one pair of contacts, When I really want to order my monthly supply. read more

I went here, saw the optometrist who told me I needed cataract surgery and that she needed to find a surgeon to perform it. I waited about two weeks then checked up on progress and the receptionist told me I needed to see my private doctor about that. I asked her to have the optometrist call me, I missed the call but she left a message, something totally off topic. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier or what, between the receptionist and optometrist I got nowhere. read more

SMH. They claim they're open Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Came here today on a Wednesday to pick up my mother's glasses just for them to be closed. It was 12pm when we arrived, assumed staff was on lunch. Waited an hour till 1pm. Came back and office was still closed. Waste of our time. No note was posted or anything. AT LEAST notify patients or post a note on the door...pissed asf! read more

Dr. Nguyen is so sweet, friendly, and genuine when it comes to the care of her patients! I'm so happy I had the privilege of meeting her and her helpful team. I've had bad experiences before with optometry offices that I shied away from taking care of my vision. But my experience at Focus Optometry by far exceeded my expectations. Dr. Nguyen made me feel so at ease in her office during my short visit there. I enjoyed her enthusiasm in her work and loved seeing that she truly loves the work that she provides. We talked and joked around as if we had known each other for years. She made me feel so happy and comfortable! Thank you Dr. Nguyen for giving me gold-level service! read more

I spoke with the doctor yesterday and she attempted to explain the charges for my daughter's previous visit and explained that she felt she was getting paid back for giving me a discount in 2010. I dont see how I got a discount when I had to pay 89.00 for my visit and then they got paid by the insurance. Also there was a 50.00 fee for getting a prescription for my daughter's lenses and now this year the price went to 170.00. So is the cost 110.00, 89.00 or 170.00, or wait maybe 149.00 like the other gal that even had a bifocal prescription. Just ridiculous. I am happy to see another review popping up By a 1st time reviewer the very same day that references my review, hilarious. Sure those are not solicited! I came today to get an eye exam and my experience was better than I had expected! The assistant that helped me was friendly and quick and made the process go by much faster. The optometrist that did my eye exam was Dr.Jasmine and she was so delightful! She talked to me about my eyesight and gave me useful tips and information that I actually understood, whereas other places give you terms you wouldn't even understand. She was also very friendly as with the rest of the staff! My appointment was at 11:30 and I believe I was out before 12! Will def come back! :) read more

I have been coming here for years to see Dr. Nguyen for my annual exams when she was at the old location and am happy to follow her to her new location. I enjoy the fact that she spends time with me during the exams, talks through what she is doing and gives clear instructions on what she needs from me - I don't feel that I am being rushed along so that she can get to the next patient. She herself is patient, answers my questions and I am always treated with respect. There is a variety of different brands of contact lenses and eyeglass frames that she carries - variety is important to me. I know what my insurance covers and have not had any issues with what my insurance paid and what I have to pay out of pocket. I live in the OC and drive down annually to see Dr. Nguyen and have no problems continuing to do so. It is difficult to find a doctor that you like so when you do, you hang onto them. read more

I just found my new place for all my prescription eyeglasses needs. Came in to ask if they could fix that little fish string thing on my Armani glasses. They told me that yes they can and to leave them there and come back the next day and they will give me a call. And oh my am I pleased. My glasses have a new life thanks to these kind hearted people they even gave me a discount. Thank you for the help I'm a really happy customer. read more

Really enjoyed my visit here! Dr. Jasmine explained everything very thoroughly and only recommended what she thought would be best for me. She made sure I understood what she was explaining which I appreciated. The front desk was also very friendly. Overall a very positive experience here. Will be coming back! read more

Wow, I really wish I came to Focus Optometry sooner. If you read my Yelp review for Eye Studio Optometry, you can see why. If I had gone three blocks up the street from Eye Studio, I could have received excellent, professional, and thorough care from Focus Optometry instead. I needed to get my boyfriend's pupillary distance (PD) measured so that I could buy him glasses online for Valentine's Day. While the aforementioned optometrist could not provide that service for us, Focus Optometry gladly helped us instead. We were warmly greeted by three clean-cut employees once we entered the office this afternoon. As soon as we explained our situation, one of the young ladies promptly measured my boyfriend's PD while Thuy explained what each PD measurement meant and which numbers would be appropriate to use online. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service provided by this Mid-City establishment. In addition to the smart-looking storefront and atmosphere, we received no stigma or discrimination from the employees even though it was very clear from the beginning that we would be ordering glasses online rather than through their office. I am honestly so shocked and appreciative of their services today although we spent a total of $0 at their office. It may be difficult to find excellent and efficient service in this populous area of San Diego, so I will definitely be recommending this office to all of my friends and family. I'll see you next year once my prescription expires! :^) read more

Great spot to get your eye exam fixings. At $149 for an eye exam for contacts & bifocals I came here to update my perscription, no extra fees not even tax. I was stoked walking out wearing a trial pair of contacts and 8 different colored samples to take home and try so I know what colors I want ahead of time when I call to order for my future purchase, Im very happy I found this place near by! read more

I was in need of an eye exam and referenced Yelp for reviews. I am very picky when it comes to my eyes! So I used Yelp to find just a decent optometry for me. I called Focus Optometry to make an appointment for next week, yet the receptionist asked if I could come in 15 minutes hence I showed up. I already felt at ease because the staff was very welcoming and courteous. When I first walked in, I noticed how clean and neat everything is! Oh btw, they have plenty of parking inside the parking structure, that was a BONUS!! I filled out some paperwork and they took me right to the exam. There was NO long wait. AND I LOVE that!! Dr. Jasmine was professional, knowledgeable, personal and friendly at the same time. She knew exactly what she was talking about and met my needs. Overall, excellent service!! Highly recommend this place to all yelpers that have eye issues and in need of eye care. read more

i found this place incredibly irresponsible with how they place their orders! i've been waiting 2 months for my glasses, i couldn't believe it. i called TODAY and they said they were being "processed and if i'll be able to pick them up tomorrow". read more

Every visit here just gets better and better. They have the nicest, most welcoming staff as well as a fresh, clean environment. The new location looks great and is pretty easy to find. Recently, I came in for an appointment and bought a new pair of sunglasses and a pair of reading glasses. The designs on my new glasses are stunning and I've been getting tons of compliments on them! This place has such a wide variety of fashionable frames that it was difficult for me to choose, but I love what I ended up with. I've been going to see Dr. Nguyen for a while now and I highly recommend this place for anyone in need of a new optometrist. With the best service, I'm sure that they won't be a disappointment to anyone. The staff always patiently takes care of whatever concerns I have and every appointment here runs very quickly and smoothly. I don't think there is any optometry shop better than Focus Optometry. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Nguyen for about 12 years and have always been treated kindly. Best place I've ever been to get my eyes checked (been to other places before this). The front staff is always friendly and courteous and always willing to answer my questions (regarding insurance and blah blah). Recently, Dr. Nguyen has another doctor working with her and she saw me this most recent time. I don't remember her name, but she was great and I really liked my visit. Really helped me take full advantage of my insurance too. I always recommend people to Dr. Nguyen's office if they need an eye exam. There's a reason I've been coming here for 10 years. Keep up the awesome work Focus Optometry! =D read more

I came for contacts. The girls at the front were nice and Dr. Nguyen was really informative and knowledgeable. Unlike most places she wasnt trying to pressure me to buy the most expensive product but rather explained the differences and gave me two trial pairs. I highly recommend! read more

You know those people who just shouldn't work in the customer service line of work? That's definitely Ana, the girl that was sitting at the front desk during my visit. When we walked into the office we weren't greeted, neither did we feel welcome there the entire time. The whole time she tried finding my paperwork/records I was spoken to very rudely. Didn't even seem like she was trying to assist me at all because after the attempt on trying to find my records, all she told me to do was to "come back tomorrow" and that there was nothing else she could do. Ok? That's definitely a way to leave your customer satisfied... (which I surely was not) The other girls in the front are somewhat friendly and helpful, but mostly were very unorganized. When employed in a workplace requiring customer service, I suggest employing people who attain that approachable characteristic. Ana definitely did not show any of that for sure, nor did she show the willingness to help. For the rest of the girls, they are mildly friendly, but very timid... but no harsh complaints about them though. I have came to this office for the past 3 years... don't know now if I'll ever come back because the customer service here. Or should I say the lack of? #shewasntready read more

I have had great experiences here...from the office staff to Dr. Nguyen. My first visit was for an annual eye exam-then I got a horrible eye infection which turned out to be an ulcer-Dr. Nguyen kept the office open after hours to take care of me and was very diligent on her follow up with me until my eye healed! I felt like she genuinely cared about me...the customer service is awesome-they accepted my insurance and that went very smoothly too. I highly recommend Focus Optometry! read more
