The appointment was initially at 2 PM, we came about 1:30 to make sure we can find parking and fill out all the paperwork. As indicated on the sign, even if you showed up on time, they won't see you in that order depending on what the condition they will see whoever needed first. So the assistant brought my Mom in for about 10 mins after 2, but the doctor didn't see her until 3 PM. That was a long time which I felt that was forever since I had some place to go and matters to attend, but I'm glad it's over until the next visit 6 months later.

She is on medical and limited income. This is absurd! I've never heard that f such a thing. Taking advantage of elderly and those on medical. I spoke to another eye doctor and he also confirmed this is not normal practice. If you go get a physical, I need the form filled out. The form should not cost you. I'm reporting them to BBB!

I totally understand that it's 8 minutes till close but the business hours are 1000 am - 500 pm, when I got to the door it was locked. I pulled a second time in case it was me...there were two gals inside, on of them, not sure if she's front desk to technician had long dark hair, kept mouthing, we are closed, I tried to ask, at what time do you close? But she couldn't hear me through the closed door and windows. I took my phone out to take a photo and she comes out. She states that an employee had an emergency and they closed early today...she asked me what I needed. I said that I had gotten an mrx and wanted to take a peek at inventory to see prices and frame designs. She let me know a rundown of prices and advised I come back. I work at an eye institution which does lots of refractions and we have a large number of patients of the 92105 area and I always like to recommend a great place to go. I thought this was it. Unfortunately the quality of care for Jacqueline Le OD and Kelvin Nguyen OD is not reflected of the staff...or perhaps it is. This encounter to me showed lack of professionalism, lack of care, and disrespect. The amount of time the gal spend with me outside of the office when she poked her head out could have been a conversation we had indoors, this would have allowed for a better first impression. I guess I will keep searching for an optical place to send our patients to, because this is not it.

When you call, the call won't go through because the line is busy. The receptionist will watch you stand outside trying to call & still not come to the door to help. I called 17x one morning (not even an exaggeration) and finally I walked to their location and she made me wait outside for another 7 minutes since I couldn't get through on the phone. When she finally answered I told her I've been trying to call all morning & couldn't get through...and all she said back was "do you have an appointment"? I'm not sure how she expected me to schedule an appointment when I couldn't get her on the phone and there was no option for voicemail. It's pretty scary when a doctors office doesn't allow you to leave a voicemail - you'd think that would be required. The lack of customer service made me leave the practice. Attached is a pic of one of the timeframes I tried to get through on the phone.

I easily use readers for close work. I am nice and easy to work with. :) I had recently changed my insurance coverage and no longer had Kaiser optometry coverage. I went to the private Optometrist in Mission Valley Costco, Robin Slikker, O.D. I had a good exam and went home to try lenses. I found I was just not seeing well, distance nor close with readers. I made another appointment with Dr. Slikker, a few weeks out. Her office called to inquire why I was returning. I nicely said I just couldn't see well and maybe I needed glasses over my lens for driving. The day before my appointment her staff called me to say "Dr. Slikker reviewed your chart and, especially with the cataracts, there's nothing more she can do for you." I was shocked. I was willing to pay for another exam and glasses so I could function! I told the staff person I was very disappointed with her response. They then offered a refund. Yikes, I had never thought of asking for my money back. Of course I let them reimburse my exam costs. So, I made an appointment with Dr. Dinh at the La Mesa Costco office. I scheduled an appointment quickly. He was enthusiastic and skilled. He took my situation as a challenge and worked hard to get me a prescription I could function with. Whew! I can drive safely! I can read up close with my readers again! I am now comfortable. Thank you so much to Dr. Dinh. I would like to add the office staff were so pleasant and courteous. The optical assistant was skilled and appropriate. Joslyn and Miranda were awesome.

It was a challenge going to Costco Mission Valley on a Sunday afternoon (and couldn't find handicapped parking) but the positive experience made it worth it. And, Virginia at the front desk was so upbeat and positive and put out such a happy vibe. The exam was $99 and the additional optional retina scan (which gave great feedback) was $29. $128 total for great peace of mind. I have been to Dr. Slikker myself but I now live further away so now I go to the Costco in Poway.

Madison the Optometrist is really nice, but too many negative experiences with the staff and…read morepolicies. Couple of concerns with this office: 1. One person in particular is very condescending, has a bad attitude, and is untrustworthy. Let's call her "Betsy". Betsy, says whatever it takes to get you to sign a document or pay some BS fees. She'll say things are mandatory just to get you to comply and then we you dig into it you find out its not true. 2. I ordered a ton of contacts and from day 1 the prescription was wrong. Granted, I waited past 60 days to let them know because life was busy and I primarily wear glasses so it wasn't a big deal to me. However, they didn't work with me and basically said that's my problem. Would have been nice if they would have at least offered a discount or done something for the inconvenience. 3. Against my better judgement, I came into the office today for a contacts fitting apt to find they have a new BS contact lenses fitting annual fee. I was going to walk out and cancel my apt but I said screw it, I'll do it and then never come back. They took me to the exam room to measure my eyes and like almost every optometrist there is always an optional advanced eye scan that usually costs anywhere from $40-$180 if you want them to use it on you. Of course they were about to use that optional machine on me without advising me of the costs. When I asked them if this is the machine that requires additional fees they said that "it is now required by the office to use the machine". As mentioned, with the history of Betsy's dishonesty I doubt that it was, but even so how are you going to standardize an optional procedure and then make a client pay for it. More could be said but that was the last straw for me. Hopefully they improve their staffing for future cliental. Betsy alone was enough for me to walk out.

The folks here are super nice, knowledgeable and helpful, but the lab they work with is incompetent…read moreso from my experience, not worth your time. I hate leaving bad reviews, but it took about two/three months for me to get my glasses. My appointment was seamless and went great, with everyone I spoke with being helpful and overall wonderful to work with. The trouble began after I ordered my glasses. So I ordered my glasses (covered by insurance) and paid about $90 out of pocket to get the blue light filter on the lenses. The office called me about three/four weeks later to let me know they were ready to be picked up, so I was excited! Upon trying them on for the first time, they were useless, though. The middle part of the left lense was SUPER blurry and I couldn't see through it. The person who helped me at the office apologized, said the lab got something wrong and she would send them to get them fixed for me. Okay, fine. I understand things happen. I got another call about three weeks later that they were ready to be picked up. I went back and the lenses were clear, but I didn't see the blue light filter on them. I asked about it and was told that they didn't order them with it, so I explained that I paid out of pocket for the filter. Was told they would order the filtered lenses for me and pop them in the frame, then call me again once they're ready for pick up. I had to wait another two or three weeks to pick up my glasses and then FINALLY, on the third try, they were actually as ordered. I was so frustrated and disheartened by experience here, so I definitely would not recommend or return. TLDR: my glasses were messed up twice and I didn't get what I ordered until two or three months after my appointment.
