In my opinion they did a horrible Job. I asked for a manicure/ pedicure. They just filed a little and then painted my nails. The lady doing my finger nails stood the whole time and did not do a good job. Very sloppy, I had to file my nails and take off excess polish off my skin when I got home. The lady was even getting nail polish all over her skin. She kept scratching me with her nails to take polish off my skin. The GEL polish chipped two days later. I will not return to this salon again. . Ivy did gel nails for me. After she took my old polish off i thought she was going to give me a manicure and then give me fresh gel nails. Ivy took my polish off then started applying fresh gel nails. I said, "I want a manicure." She said, "I'll do it after gel nails are done---- it's more fresh that way." That's some bull. So I got manicure afterwards and price then went from $25 to $30. That's a stupid way to give a manicure---@ the end. Who the F does that. I have never n my life had a manicure done at the end. If I could give this salon a zero, I would. The girl I went to ended up leaving the salon and I followed her to her new shop. After going to see her at her new salon, she proceeded to tell me how the owner of this shop just gauges her customers. For instance, I just wanted a polish change on my toes and the owner told the girl working on my polish change that if I turned the massage chair on, to charge me additional money for using the massage feature on the chair! I usually go to Eva's nails (btw they are much better than this place) but I came at a time when they were really busy and I was in a hurry so I came here. I wasn't too happy with the color selection they don't have many colors to choose from. I could barely understand what the last was telling me when I came in. Usually when I go to Eva's they take their time even when the pedicure like at least an hour but here they took no more than 20 minutes. They are also very overpriced and I wasn't satisfied with my nails or service Today was my first AND last time here I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. I have been going to Focus Nails for about five years. Overall, the services are comparable with other nail salons in the area that I have visited. As some of the other reviewers expressed, their waxing methods do not seem the most sanitary to me, so I do not use those services. For a pedicure or manicure, they seem to do a decent job and I've never had any problems with cleanliness and I'm pretty picky that way. They seem to attempt to keep the salon up - the paint is always fresh and things look cleaner than others I've been to. The pedicure tubs always appear to be clean, so I have never observed the place being "dirty" as some other posters observed and have never had any problems. Having been to a few of these pedicure "mills," they are all very similar in pricing, service and cleanliness, so what I like best about Focus is at least their staff is always friendly unlike some of the other Vietnamese-run salons. Certainly, if you want "outsanding service" you can go to a regular beauty salon and pay $50 or $60 for a pedicure, but my experience with those salons is it wasn't any better for the price difference. I do agree you have to watch for "add ons," but if you just stick with basic services (no flowers, no sea salt, etc.), I've never had them jump the price, at least for a pedicure. read more

I have been going to Focus Nails for 10 years now. Ivy (the owner) has been doing my nails/waxing and Lisa and others for my pedicures. I have been very happy with the years of service. As a long time customer, I do disagree with other posted comments indicating that Ivy tries to charge and provide services that were not asked for. I get my nails done every two weeks and have for the past 10 years. I have never observed an unhappy customer! Additionally, Ivy takes anyone in and it does not matter how big or small the service is that the customer is asking for. read more

Fifteen years ago I met Ivy who is the owner of Focus Nails. At the time I traveled extensively for my business and it was a treat to visit her salon over the years but I would not have called myself a regular. Even though I would only pop in on occasion Ivy always remembered my name. That resonates with me. I am in sales so I am in front of customers regularly and very self-conscious about my nails. I have problem nails due to Psoriasis. Skipping from salon to salon I started noticing damage to my nail bed. I scheduled time with Ivy to discuss a natural way to help heal my nails and cuticles. She made me a promise that she would treat my nails with great care and she has never let me down. With time and her TLC my natural nails are strong and healed. For years I used acrylic, gel and any other approach I could find to hide the damage to my nails. Today I have a clear and healthy nail bed. Ivy is gentle, kind & friendly. The staff are courteous & the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. Giving your trust over to a manicurist is a big deal - especially if you have problem nails. If I go too long I can run into trouble as my nail bed will always be a bit of an anomaly. She even sends me a friendly reminder when I am due for an appointment. This place is okay. Sometimes you get great service or sometimes you might not. I gave them three stars because they did an okay job on my gel red nails but I can't stand when they don't cover the whole nail with the color. why am I paying $30 on gel nails if they aren't going to be perfect? Also, the woman who was taking care of my mom was complaining the entire time that she was tired and didn't get much sleep. So unprofessional. My first time coming into the salon, the atmosphere was relaxing, from then on I always get my Gel nails done by Ivy. She is very good in Gels, She is so friendly and very professional and does a great job. The people in salon are very nice and friendly. I will be back with no hesitation with Ivy works. I wouldn't even give this place a star at All! They are over priced and want to tack on extra for anything possible! They closed the register and wouldn't let me pay with my card I had to use there ATM which charged me 3 extra dollars! My nails came out like crap! Stopped in because I was in the area, there was a guy "Henry" who started working on me. Rude, didn't even speak to me, felt like I was just being ordered around: sit here, pick color. He was on the phone the whole time. He was so rough, when he cut my nails. And was rubbing my feet. It was so uncomfortable. I pulled back a few times to show him it was uncomfortable. When he got the hot towel, it burned me! I jumped. Oh sorry he says and goes back to his phone class. I got white tips, when he painted them, it was so rushed, he messed up. He added a line of glitter, but it was thick in some places and thin on others. He put one coat of clear on, then left me to work on another customer, one that was obviously in more often because everyone knew her by last name. He said he would be back to put on another clear coat in a few. When he didn't come back after a good while, another lady came to finish me off. I showed her the places he messed up and told her I wanted it taken off and re done. Of course, they started talking in the language I can't understand. but she had to finish his job. I have made the mistake of going to Focus Nails 4 times because I live right across the street, but the last time I went will be the last. Every single time I go I look at the pamphlet that has the prices they say that their regular acrylic nails are $22.00 but they always charge $25.00. When I first questioned the young lady about it she said " oh it is because you want long nails," I do not agree with it because there is no where in their pricing that specifies the pricing for short verses long, so I said okay whatever not going to argue. I went in again and asked the girl for REGULAR LENGTH NAILS so I allowed her to pick the legnth, she did and when we were almost done she had the nerve to say well they are a little long so it is going to be $25.00 I said no I do not think so you picked the legnth and I told you i wanted REGULAR ACRYLIC which is priced at $22.00 she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. When I went in to get a fill the young man attending me wanted to charge me $18.00!! Even though the pricing said $15.00. I do not have a problem with paying for services BUT as a consumer I go by what prices are posted, if they want to charge 25.00 for a full set and $18.00 for a fill then they need to post it and not make up thier prices as the go along just so that they can make more money, that is considered false advertisement. In addition, I found it pretty tacky for them to be giving a massage to a male customer in the shop while he was getting his nails done and he had his shirt off...it seemed very un-professional ..especially since I had my 8 year old niece there. read more
