I have been coming to this salon for 26 years and yes, they get busy but they also do their best to accommodate your schedule...when you make an appointment you MAY have to wait a few minutes to be seen but it's worth it! Remember that the staff is not the reason for running behind but late customers that they try to accommodate. Recommend 10 out of 10!!

I totally understand that scheduled clients come first, and I didn't mind waiting since I didn't have an appointment. I do mind the miscalculation of time. At least three people with appointments walked in while I waited. The manager mentioned needing to start them, and asked for another 10 minutes. Every time she acknowledged me after that, she just added more time to the clock, said "thank you for waiting," and kept me sitting. I ended up waiting 54 minutes before finally getting into a chair. I really wish nail salons would just be upfront and say, "We can't take you right now," or give you a realistic time to come back. Once I was seated, the process didn't get much better. To remove my old gel, they insisted on soaking my hands directly in a bowl of acetone. When I asked about using cotton and foil instead, I was told this was faster. After 15 minutes in cold acetone, I just pulled my hands out. It felt like a tactic to stall while waiting for an available tech. During the service, there was too much filing, and I had to speak up because it was actually hurting my nail beds. The cure light burned, too. The space itself is comfortable enough, but it's not a luxury salon compared to other places I've been. They do have a really nice selection of colors and display nails to view. My color turned out pretty initially, but my gel manicure didn't even last a full week before peeling, and my nails ended up breaking down super short. It is a fairly inexpensive salon for anyone wanting budget friendly. I assume the appointments were returning customers based on the welcome in reactions. The effective communication and quality just weren't there for me so I won't be back.

The acrylic was not blended in and looked lumpy and she fixed it by slapping gel on it. Then she ruined the entire shape by cutting off the corners that hadn't broken when I came it specifically to fix my SQUARE toes. After repeatedly asking for square and her STILL rounding my toes off she had me grab the file and file my own nails. I couldn't get out of there fast enough and am disappointed in the fact I let myself think this place could help me or provide a service. It was especially embarrassing when while she was making me file my own nails she started speaking to her coworkers as if I was the problem. It really did make me feel worse. Do not come here, it really isn't worth it. I am now on the way to the store to buy a file on my way to the airport.

Christina also alternates between applying lash fans from eye to eye in case of emergency situations, i.e. if you ever have to run out of an appt early - you'll at least have both eyes partially filled. And also to prevent the glue from extensions sticking to each other - this will hinder your natural lash growth and prevent styes from developing (all of which Christina educated me about!) Christina is super big on hygiene and cleanliness before/during/after services - she hand sanitizes prior, if she ever has to run to the restroom (which she will literally put off to avoid leaving you alone on the table), and after each client. After the service, although I'm not a new client, she always reminds me to not get my lashes wet for the next 24 hours. Christina is definitely a hard worker, perfectionist, and is willing to fix anything you're unhappy with! Aside from her service, she is super nice and remembers previous conversations we've had, which makes every time I get a fill feel more personable. Everywhere I go, I always receive compliments on my nails from people even during my overseas travels, people want to know who is doing such great job with my nails. :) Kyley 's talent with designs is truly amazing, I always let her decide of a special design, or which color to use. I have seen customers in this salon come in and be less than respectful to these ladies and it always upsets me to see how condescending and mean some women can be. I had an incredible experience at Fashion Nails! I came in when before the rush and it was very relaxing. Kylie did an amazing job fixing my nails and making them beautiful again. She truly worked her magic, and I couldn't be happier with how my hot gel nails turned out. Mimi worked on my feet and gave me an excellent pedicure--my feet feel fantastic! I had a terrible experience with Kylie at the salon. She rushed through the French tip set, filing my nails too aggressively and injuring my skin. The French tips were crooked, and she left before I could address the issues. The other staff offered to fix it the next day, but I can't return because I had plans with my husband for our wedding anniversary. This was very disappointing. I won't be coming back or recommending this salon to anyone. This is definitely NOT Salon quality nails. read more

They seem to treat their employees well (e.g., they told me they are closed on Sundays so that everyone can rest and spend time with their families, which is something you almost never hear/see with a nail salon) 7. Pricing is fair/comparable with other salons. Some other salons in La Mesa are overpriced, but their pricing here is fair. I have had Diem & Lisa two or three times, and they are great and do an awesome job. I like that they have you check your nails after doing the first one to make sure you like that as sometimes, I'm reading my book and not always paying attention, so at other nail salons, by the time I look up, they are almost done, so I feel bad about speaking up. I love to use Dazzle Dry polishes because they are non-toxic, last as long as gel without needing a UV to cure, and come off with regular nail polish unlike gel. However, almost no salons carry the polishes, and in order for them to work, you have to use all the right polishes in the correct order, so I have always been reluctant to bring them to a salon to use. I brought my Dazzle Dry system, and Diem used it perfectly, and it turned out great! I'm not sure why there are some negative reviews here because I have been many times and really like it! I would definitely recommend it!

They didn't clean under the nails. Disappointed to say the least. Oh yea and the person next to me had a Starbucks a fly flew in very dirty.

Her expert knowledge and her attention to detail is awesome. I am happy to say my nail is almost all the way grown out and clean without infection. It hasn't been easy but she did it! Kaiser wanted me to use a very strong medication that could of hurt my liver which I refused. I visited her regularly along side cleaning my feet and with with using Lamisil fungal spray daily. My gel nails have lasted me over a week with no peeling or lifting of the gel. I also got a pedicure and it was great. Bothering me to complain about at all. The lady was super calm and gentle with my feet and when I left I was satisfied with how my toes looked and how soft my feet felt. I had my son with me and he stayed in the car and when I came back in the car he let me know one of the lady's was standing right in front of our car just staring at the car the whole time and she walked right by my car and tried to either take a picture of my license plate or write it down on her phone. I think they were just annoyed that I parked right in front of their place even though it wasn't assigned parking. Makes you think about how they probably treat their guests. Do better.
