I have been to Nails Time Spa about 5+ times now, and it is my favorite place to get my nails done in the Del Cerro/Lake Murray/La Mesa area. Pros: 1. Very clean 2. Massage chairs that work 3. Good color selection 4. Accepts credit card with no issue & can tip via Venmo 5. Family run nail salon 6. They seem to treat their employees well (e.g., they told me they are closed on Sundays so that everyone can rest and spend time with their families, which is something you almost never hear/see with a nail salon) 7. Pricing is fair/comparable with other salons. Some other salons in La Mesa are overpriced, but their pricing here is fair. I have had Diem & Lisa two or three times, and they are great and do an awesome job. I like that they have you check your nails after doing the first one to make sure you like that as sometimes, I'm reading my book and not always paying attention, so at other nail salons, by the time I look up, they are almost done, so I feel bad about speaking up. I love to use Dazzle Dry polishes because they are non-toxic, last as long as gel without needing a UV to cure, and come off with regular nail polish unlike gel. However, almost no salons carry the polishes, and in order for them to work, you have to use all the right polishes in the correct order, so I have always been reluctant to bring them to a salon to use. I brought my Dazzle Dry system, and Diem used it perfectly, and it turned out great! I'm not sure why there are some negative reviews here because I have been many times and really like it! Tried to give this place a chance because I was getting eyebrow threading next door. The guy was really nice when I walked in and I was sat right away. I asked for a colored French manicure with a heart design and a regular pedicure. They agreed they were able to do the design and I started to choose my colors. They had a decent color selection and the gel colors had matching regular colors which made it easy. Unfortunately it took a turn for the worse when the manicurist started shaping and applying the French manicure. I first mentioned how I wanted the shape to be more rounder or almond and she was like it can only happen if you get fake nails. I should've known from that point it wasnt going to workout but I kept giving them the benefit that they can do a simple French. After she shaped them a little better she continued on with the French tip. All the French lines were so crooked and uneven!!!! And I was trying to show her a picture again so that she knew what to do but she would be very short with me and tried to do everything so fast and was like let me do this part first and then you can show me the picture but I wanted to make sure it was done right. After 3 attempts "of fixing it", I gave up hope. They were like if you don't like this French I can paint your nail one color, but that's not what I came in for so I told her to just take it off They charged for a regular mani and regular pedi (the pedi was fine although he did cut me) Def won't come back. I suggest only coming here for simple mani pedi with no designs but watch out for cuts and rude attitude. ( mainly the manicurist I didn't get her name. She was very short with me and kept rushing me ... IT WAS SLOW BTW... not all workers had clients so I didn't understand the rushing) Never again. read more

I was in dire need of a mani/pedi, having been through many travels, workouts, and hikes since my last. I called my regular spot, and they were booked for the next couple days. I was stressed due to upcoming weekend events and in need of presentable nails. I decided to check out a small nail salon near my office. It was not my best decision. When I arrived, a woman greeted me in a friendly way, asking if I could wait. It was a salon that is in high need of a makeover. It looks dated and a bit sloppy. The woman then brought me gel colors to choose from when I asked. There were about three women in front of me, but they were helped quickly so my wait was only 10-15 minutes. I was first seated at a pedicure station, which was comfortable enough. The woman doing the pedi was really pretty rough on her removal of the existing polish and filing of the nails. After that, she cut the skin on my toe by cutting the nail too short. There was no apology, just an attempt to soak up the blood. After that, she then pretended to do the foot and leg massage. I liked my gel mani a lot better than the pedi. A different woman did that. She was more personable and spoke to me a bit. She found me a new color when I wasn't totally happy with the first. At the end of it all, my pedicure came out very flawed and my gel mani was a bit lumpy and uneven. I do like how they do the mani and pedi at the same time to save time, but my service was very subpar. I thought that it may be a lot cheaper than other salons, but it was only slightly cheaper than my usual. Here, a regular pedi and gel mani was $52. It seems like a pretty popular place, but I will not be returning. read more

One of the few places in San Diego that continues to accept walk in clients! I was in La Mesa for another errand and I stopped at the ATM in the same shopping center. This nail salon is in the shopping center where you will find a Vons grocery store, and along two sides some unique, independently owned shops. Parking is plentiful. I leaned in the doorway and asked if they were able to perform a manicure and pedicure on the spot. The woman asked me to step outside for a couple of minutes, and when I stuck back in she said that they could take me right away. There's a sign in sheet, sanitizer, a sign that reads a $3 Covid cleaning fee, and a person who will take your forehead temperature. Once all these items were out of the way, I was escorted to a Covid-safe pedicure station where I am happy to say the water temperature was just perfect. The young woman who began my pedicure walked over with nail color samples. Certainly many to choose from, and out of the samples I chose two colors, both glitter. So talking about the pedicure, I found that it was just as good as other nail salons I have requested services from. The technician properly cut, filed, and trimmed cuticles. She then used a very nice scrub to slough off skin from my feet and my legs, followed by a soothing lotion and nail polish. With the pedicure finished, I was asked to reseat myself at a manicure station. Many nail salons keep you seated at the pedicure station while doing your manicure I actually prefer to sit at a manicure table separate from the water bath, and I don't think that $3 as a cleaning fee is excessive. Again the same woman went through the procedures of the manicure in the same way I would expect from any nail salon. I think this salon deserves a shout out for the cleanliness, polite and thorough technicians, and the willingness in this environment to continue to bring in clients without appointments such as myself. read more

I had previously had several dip manicures at other salons and was not happy with the manner in which the dip was applied or taken off. After coming the Nail Time & Spa for a couple of pedicures and talking to the staff about their dip manicure, I decided to come back today and try it. Do yourself a favor....If you want a dip manicure go here! Cynthia did an amazing job and explained things to me. Turns out the places I went before weren't even doing it right and how would I know?! I have been coming here for about 5 years now. For the past few months Annie and Cynthia have been doing my nails. I'm very happy with the way they come out! Daniel also does a good job. I always get the gel manicure and gel spa pedicure. The gel lasts a 2-3 weeks on my nails. I usually go in just because they've grown out not because they've chipped or anything. I've gotten a facial here a few times. It's pretty relaxing. Prices are great for everything. I've gone to about three places out of town with friends and each time I paid way more and feel like I received less of a service than what I get here. You get what you pay for, for a spa mani and pedi, $24, what a great deal until you see the quality. They double paint your toes, the technician was quite good and detailed but no top coat, and the mani girl was quick, only one coat and no top coat on my fingernails. Was there for the spa mani and pedi 30 minutes, 10 minutes to dry at the drying station. I got there at 11:10, maybe two other patrons, by 11:30am the place was packed on a Saturday. Glad they took me in early from my 11:30am appt. 8 pedi spa chairs, 6 mani sections and a 6 person communal fingernail and toe drying station. The staff was friendly and accommodating, I'd say 4 star but the mani quality was a 2 star. Pedi quality, 3.5 star. A popular place, they have regulars, seem pretty clean just the quality isn't there that I would prefer but would go again for a regular mani and pedi for $20 if I was in a rush, they are fast with two people working on you at once. My nail technician was very kind but her work was not up to standards. Also, I'm unsure with the cleanliness of this place. I don't know if tools are being properly sanitized. My Grandmother lives just up the street, so we bring her here for her nails and toes. Don't anticipate a warm welcome here, or much less a smile. Although the staff usually relaxes a bit and acts nice after we get situated - it's never very cheery. My gel manicure lasted all of four days before it peeled off. I've been here twice now and I intend on going back for another fill in about a week. A fill with gel is about $25-$28. I forget. It's an alright place. I've had better work done but it's been pricier. If you're looking for a simple gel manicure w/ a fill, this place gets it done pretty fast with pretty decent results. I've noticed that the gel coat that is applied isn't even on all of my nails. Some are thicker than others making my nails look a little duck bill-y. But it's super easy to look past. Do NOT go here. I went to get powder dip to start. While getting it done there was some girl apparently related to the spa eating her wings or whatever they were in the seat next to me-could smell it (and see it) the whole time-go to the back, not "spa" at all as the name suggests. Wasn't. Overall ok, but 100% thrilled with the way my nails were done-indentation on thumb that she was trying to be sly about, but I noticed. Close to three weeks later they started to break off & went back to get removed. The lady filed and barely soaked in a bowl. I wasn't sure what was going on when she pulled out an acrylic nail and dug under a partial nail that broke off. Totally ripped my nail and acted like it was not big deal when I mentioned it-turned the piece she got off and turned it upside down with my real nail attached.. I asked why she didn't wrap them (w/acetone)and she said"Oh, you want them wrapped?" After looming again at my jacked up nail I told her never mind and walked out of there.
