If I could give a zero I would. My daughter and I went to get our toes and nails done. They didn't speak any English at all so communication was horrible. They didn't do the toes or nails like the picture at all and they hurt us in the process because they were so rough. They shouldn't have charged us at all but of course they did and of course there was no manager on site. The first time that I have left and not given a tip and if you know me I always tip but not today. There has to be a better place to go. read more

Went to get a pedi and service from crystal was amazing. But you do end up getting fungus on your feet by the way. Unfortunately I wanted to give it a shot in getting acrylics. After 4 days they were falling off ! I called and the tall guy in the front told me to go. When I was there , the nail was tech told me she piel put glue on. I told her absolutely not !! She had to re do them. So she fixed them and again 6 days later two were falling off. I went and I just removed them. Ugh. The lady told me to get some gel because my natural nails are going to be very thin and I told her no. Anyways when she removed my acrylics I noticed one finger had a green color and she said it's nothing but my nail is getting green. Omg I hope it's not fungus. Then I called so I could speak to manager. Turns out manager was the one hi removed them lol I asked for my $ back $65 She said no but she will give me a disc next time . So let's say they made $65 full set $20 tip to get them fixed $15 I remove them. All of this in 3 wks. lol yup never getting acrylics itch then. I'm writing this review on behalf of my sister, who stopped by today with my 12-year-old niece. This is a place they have visited regularly, which made today's experience especially disappointing. They were told that my niece could not receive a gel manicure because she was "too young." While we understand that businesses may have their own policies regarding age restrictions, nowhere in the salon or on their Yelp page does it state that there is a minimum age requirement for this service. Had that information been clearly communicated or posted beforehand, there would have been no issue. What was most disappointing, however, was the way the situation was handled. The gentleman who spoke with my sister was dismissive and made her feel as though she was asking for something unreasonable or even asking for the service for free simply because she questioned a policy she had never been made aware of. REMINDER: This isn't their first time going to this salon. Customer service is not just about the services you provide; it's also about how you communicate with your customers, especially when explaining a policy they may not know exists. A simple, polite explanation would have completely changed this interaction. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism and the way the message was delivered turned what should have been a simple explanation into an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. So sorry to say that I'm going to stop recommending this place to people. I've been coming to Alta Nails Lounge for a few months now, and always really enjoyed the cool packages with fruit and hot stone massages, the great pricing, and the friendly staff. I've liked it so much that I've personally brought 4 other ladies with me, regularly! However, during this last visit, there were so many problems that I need to give this 1 star PLUS likely never return again. 1. The hot water wasn't working, and they had to boil water and bring it to our seats. 2. The ATM wasn't working, and so I wasn't able to grab cash AND the guy working the front argued with me about it. I also had to zelle the tip to one worker for her to give to another worker.. I hope the tip got to the right place. Idk. 3. My friend kept saying she did NOT want gel, and was being pretty strongly harassed about how she should get gel. The worker said that gel was better for her, that she had ridges in her toenails and that regular polish wouldn't look good.. my friend said her podiatrist told her not to get gel anymore due to an allergic reaction, and the nail tech said 'no you're wrong regular polish will give you a reaction'. Then finally right before applying the polish said 'I'm going to give you gel, ok?" I had to step in and be like 'shes not getting gel, and if you put gel on her we're not paying for it'. It was so awkward. 4. The guy that was painting my pink and white toes kept getting the pink color on the white tip, and I had to ask him to clean it up, and he was getting visibly frustrated. One woman had to translate for him and she even apologized to me, and had to show him how to do it. I've just more recently started coming but I love this nail salon! I've gotten my hands done with Bily and my toes done by both Cindy and Haily and every one of them has been amazing! My schedule is all over the place so I just walk in and someone is always ready to help me right away. The nail salon is also very new, modern, and beautiful! It feels very luxurious without being expensive. I feel that their prices are super fair especially for the quality and treatment they give! Their customer service is amazing and they are always making sure you are happy and comfortable! They offer 2 complimentary drinks that can be anything from coffee, matcha, soft drinks and more. My complaint is that the nail technicians are very specific about putting on a timer for the 25 minute massage I paid for. However, during this time, they get up and walk away for up to 5-6 minutes of that time. They also take time to clean the tub during the massage time. I pay quite a bit for this service and expect that 25 minutes is just that. It is my fault that I haven't said anything to them. Since it is an ongoing issue with every single technician I have had, I should probably take it up with the management. Not sure who that is. read more

Heard about this place on a lot of people's IG. It's pretty big and there's a lot of pedi and mani stations, but they stay busy! Even with appointment, I still waited 30 mins. I am sure the other people who had appointments at the same time as me had to wait longer because they came in a few minutes after me. People Who didn't have an appointment waited at least an hour and half. I was there when they walked in and I was still there almost done and they barely got sat for a mani. They have a variety of drink selections, probably the most selections compared to other places. Service and mani and pedi turned out great. This place is good, but if you lack patience then it's not worth it. Just a heads up, appointment or not; there's a lot of waiting and they are busy even on a Sunday. After getting my old gel removed, my nails were very thin and scratched up from the machine they use to remove it. The nail tech insisted on doing Gel X over my thin nails and to do French tips. My nails burn so badly and you can see all the scratches and marks under the clear part of the French tip. She was not nice or friendly the whole time either. They do not seem to care about your nail health or design you want, only making money or what's easy for them. read more

Came in with a friend for some pampering--I got a manicure, she got a pedicure. The place looks nice inside, and it's in a convenient spot in El Cajon. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill with the nail techs. My tech was somewhat nice at first, but there was a significant language barrier that made it really hard to communicate what I wanted for my nails. She'd try to explain things, but I couldn't understand, and then she'd get visibly frustrated with me--like almost making a bit of a scene--which was uncomfortable and unpleasant. It definitely killed the relaxing vibe I was hoping for. My friend's tech was even ruder. She barely made eye contact, pretty much ignored her questions even when my friend was being polite and trying to chat. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. The actual work on our nails was fine, nothing standout, but the attitude and lack of good communication really soured the whole visit. Honestly, wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're okay with potential frustration. There are plenty of other nail spots in the area that seem more welcoming. I went with my daughter for pedicures and it was so enjoyable. The staff are super friendly and we had free drinks and snacks while enjoying the full body massage chairs. I loved having air compression on my arms at the same time. Hailey did my toes and did a great job, she took her time and didn't rush. My toes look great and my feet and legs feel refreshed. I should have timed my massage, it was 35mins included with the pedicure, they do get up a few times during it, which is understandable to grab more supplies.. but I think they should add on more on the timer for the time they have to grab stuff if "35 mins" is advertised. I had a really disappointing experience at this salon. I arrived at 5:40 PM for a full set of acrylic nails and did not leave until 8:30 PM, which is an excessive amount of time for such poor results. The technician working on my nails was not focused on her work. She spent most of the appointment talking and joking instead of paying attention, which led to multiple issues. While applying the nails, they kept falling off because they were not being glued properly. I pointed this out several times, but my concerns were dismissed and not taken seriously. When she moved on to the design, the work became even worse. The nails were crooked, uneven, and messy. Eventually, another staff member had to step in and redo everything from scratch. This meant removing all the gel with a drill and starting over, which made the already long appointment even more frustrating. At the same time, I was also getting a pedicure, and that experience was just as bad. The technician did not understand what I was asking for. I repeatedly requested a simple French style, but she kept doing something completely different. I had to ask her two times to redo. It was clear there was a lack of communication. This is not my first time getting acrylics, so I know what to expect. A full set, even with a French design, should not take this long. At other salons, my nails usually last three to four weeks without any issues. Here, the quality was clearly not the same. When it came time to pay, I expressed that I did not feel the service deserved full price given everything that went wrong. Instead of acknowledging the situation, they only offered a 10% discount after I had to ask for it myself. The staff seemed annoyed that I even brought it up, and there was no real apology for the experience. Considering the time, the quality, and the inconvenience, I expected a much more reasonable adjustment. To make matters worse, only two days later, one of my nails has already fallen off with no effort. I got my nails done for an upcoming trip, and now I am leaving with broken nails, which is incredibly frustrating. The place had a lot of potential. They even offer two complimentary drinks, which initially made the experience feel more exciting. However, good perks do not make up for poor service, long wait times, and low-quality work. If the results had been better, I would have come back, but after this experience, I will not be returning. Overall, this is not a place I would trust if you are looking for quality work. I originally discovered this salon through TikTok and was immediately impressed by the level of luxury and care in their pedicure services. During my first visit, everything was flawless. My pedicure was excellent, and the technician who did my Gel-X manicure was knowledgeable, meticulous, and professional. That first experience made me think I had found my go-to nail salon. Unfortunately, my experiences after that have been inconsistent -- particularly with Gel-X services. And please review my Yelp history. I don't give low stars regularly.. On my second visit, I learned the gel x technician from my first appointment was no longer there. I decided to proceed anyway, expecting a similar level of quality. My Gel-X set lasted only about eight days before a nail cracked completely off, despite my fairly low-impact daily routine. I work about 2 days a week. I gave the salon another chance and returned for a new Gel-X set. While the technician was kind, the service itself felt disorganized. She soaked off xl stiletto gel set and assumed I wanted acrylic. There was confusion about the length and shape I requested, and several nails were applied incorrectly with visible gaps, bubbles, and one nail glued on crooked. I politely asked to switch technicians, which the staff accommodated, and I still tipped BOTH technicians for their time. Wanting to give the salon a fair opportunity, I returned again and specifically called ahead to request someone experienced with Gel-X. My pedicure during this visit was excellent -- the salon consistently does great pedicure work. However, the Gel-X manicure again fell below expectations. Two nails had visible bubbles immediately after curing, which she soaked off and reapplied. Now at eight days layover (I told her I was going to Europe and my nails needed to last), THREE extensions popped off entirely. I had to purchase a nail file and SUPERGLUE to repair them myself while traveling. After this happened, I called the salon to let them know that three nails had come off within eight days. The person who answered was kind and said they would fix the three nails that popped off. I explained that the three nails currently have superglue on them, so visually they look fine, but I'm concerned that the remaining nails are at risk of popping off as well. I was told to call 2-3 hours before coming in so she could personally look at my nails, but there was no guarantee the full set would be fixed. While the woman on the phone was kind, the lack of assurance after spending over $160 on the gel x manicure alone (including tip) was extremely disheartening. I'm happy to pay for quality service and always tip generously, but aside from my first visit, the Gel-X manicures have not matched the price point (around $100-$130, not including tip) or the salon's reputation. To be fair, this salon truly excels at pedicures. However, based on my experiences, the consistency and durability of their Gel-X manicure services need improvement. My biggest mistake was giving this place a second chance. I came in wanting a cute cat-eye French design. Unfortunately, no one in the entire salon knew how to do it. The nail tech working on me openly didn't know how, and the tech next to her was trying to guide her through it. If you're going to open a new salon, all nail techs should be familiar with current nail trends. I showed her a photo beforehand, and she agreed she could do it. But once she started, she completely changed the design and gave me a soft pink cat-eye instead. What upset me most was that she kept saying, "Look how cute, it looks better than what you wanted," without considering that I'm the one paying. We have reserved the private room for our group on two separate occasions and made appointments in advance each time. Unfortunately, on neither visit were those reservations honored. We were not seated in the private room as requested, and we were not taken back at our scheduled appointment time--each visit resulted in a delay of 30 minutes or more. In addition to the scheduling issues, the quality of service has also been disappointing. On both visits, one or two of my nails broke within a day, which is not acceptable given the time and money invested. At this point, this has become a pattern rather than an isolated experience, and this most recent visit was the final straw. Due to the repeated lack of follow-through on reservations and the poor durability of the service provided, we will not be returning.
