Krista Rocks! I just moved to the area (actually, right across the street from XO) and I called her up and she got me in right away. It's cozy and clean, and you get a perfect dose of "girl talk" as you relax in a private salon environment. This is a review for the massage therapist, Mary at XO Day Spa. Mary is a wonderful massage therapist! This was my very first massage, and I'll admit to being a bit nervous. I have frequent lower back pain and neck tension so I thought I would try a massage therapist. I told Mary where my problem spots were and that this was my first massage. She was really sweet listening to me and put me at ease right away by explaining her process to me. By the end of the hour I felt so good and relaxed it was amazing! I've come here to eyelash extensions done by Justine a couple times now and they are amazing! She made them look perfect-- I've gotten so many compliments on them! Justine is super sweet and she knows what she's doing. I have been in the search of a nail technician who listens to my preferences, when it comes to the many tools used, as a sensitive client. Michelle Martinez is a great listener who made me feel relaxed, while maintaining a professional atmosphere. She considered my requests for length left on my nails, bc of the extra cushion of flesh at my fingertips. I really appreciated the accommodation. Her basic pedicure included an Epsom salt scrub, infused with lavender, eucalyptus, & spearmint. OMG, my feet are still tingling from the circulation! I enjoyed her little foot bath with a textured basin and bubbles. I was secured w seeing how she fully washed and sanitized it before & after its use(I'm nvr sure about those built in tubs). She set up her disposable exfoliating pads in front of me, & packaged all other materials used, in a take-home bag for me. Usually, when I get a pedi, the massage is something that feels like it's part of the protocol. When Michelle grabs my feet, I become aware of tension signaling throughout my body. There is something intuitive about the way she knows how much pressure to apply to any point, as a release felt inside the body. I can still feel the deep relaxation instilled. When it came to my nail art, I told her I was doing a photoshoot, & she gave me an example of styles she could offer. I chose a swirly variation of 3 colors and a fine glitter to accent a metallic vibe. Michelle took the time to give clean edges & set a proper drying time. I am so pleased with the outcome. I asked her questions about XO spa, & the services the many solo practitioners offered. Michelle spoke highly of her coworkers, and gave me a little tour of their facility & offered cards & info. I drive down from Vista be Wendy the owner is the best Esthetician that I have ever had. She does a great Micro Dermabrasion Pumpkin Peel. My skin always feels incredible after. The store is clean, quite and professional. I always feel welcome and relaxed when I come there. They even have parties to showcase their products. This review is only for their mani/pedi service. Wendy, the owner, is very friendly. The mani/pedi lady is also friendly and nice. However, if you are looking for a high-end nail service, this place is not your typical nail salon. No massage chairs (they only use those portable foot spa basins). They have limited nail polish colors. They only have one manicure table. They only have one UV light equipment and the lady squished my two gigantic hands in there (even though i told her that's not ideal). No sunblock to use for the UV light (which is OK since only a few salons I know would have this for their customers). Gel manicure products is probably cheap as my nails was not smooth and pretty at the end. Therefore, we had to re-do my manicure all over again. I didn't like that becausemy time was wasted and my nails are already thin and yet i didn't get the results i wanted. The foot/hand massage was not something i would consider massage. It took me a while to write this review because the ladies that work there are real nice. However, i'd like to warn other customers looking for a great mani/pedi service as this is not the place for it. I felt like it was a waste of money and time. My nails weren't even pretty. There is a nail salon that i found near XO Day Spa that is truly worth my money. I would probably try the facial service with Wendy though because i heard it is relaxing. read more

I have been going to Wendy for a while now and I love her. She is so sweet, attentive and caring. She is also very flexible and accommodating about her schedule. I have had to change my appointment several times and it is never an issue for her. Now about her facials, the results are amazing! My skin has never looked better and it is thanks to her. When I have skipped or gone long periods without a treatment, it shows. I never skip a treatment now. Go see Wendy. She is phenomenal! read more

I first visited XO day spa about 3 weeks ago to use an eye lash extension groupon that Justine was running. I had never had them done before but was very happy with the outcome! I definitely WAS NOT a fan! On the website this salon is made out to be a high end salon, but when I walked in there were 2 ladies and a customer sitting there gossiping and only 2 nail stations. I went in to get the hydration pedicure and since they don't have a spa pedicure chair I was stuck in an uncomfortable office desk chair for the duration of my pedicure and had to strain my legs to keep them where she needed them. She used a foot bath identical to the ones you can get at walmart for $15-25 so no jets and the water was cold after about 5 minutes. She only had about 20 nail polishes to choose from so I ended up with a color that I don't even like. Online it showed the pedicure I chose as a 75 minute pedicure with a sea salt scrub, callus treatment with warming mittens, a deep tissue calf and foot massage, and the shaping cleaning and painting of toenails. All I got was a 30-45 minutes long pedicure that felt like I were doing it at home by myself. No sea salt scrub, and all the shea butter treatment was was her slathering my legs with lotion then laying a dry cold towel on my legs for 5 minutes while she gossiped more. SUCH a waste of money. I wanted something relaxing to treat myself but all I got was cramps from holding up my legs, got to soak my feet in cold water, and got an average paint job that I could have done. Definitely would not see me at this place ever again. So disappointed. I could have gone to a cheap nail salon and gotten a way better pedicure for half the price! read more

Tonya is the best. I have gone to quite a few salons in my time and none of them compare to this place. She took the time to educate me about the process and also gave me tips on maintenance. The wax was almost painless (she offered numbing gel before we got started which I refused, but should have accepted). I've had previous experiences (with groupons) where I had to wait almost 3 months, and the massage wasn't even worth the wait! I have followed Michelle Martinez to three different day Spa's and her new home at XO is great. I have had pedicures at various spa's when traveling and Michelle is just the best.I always regret wasting my money elsewhere. When she is done my feet are soft and the polish is perfect and lasts. She is very careful about cleansing the tubs and her supplies which is a must and she really takes time to massage my feet and legs while caring for the toes. I don't do Manicures, but I am sure she is just as good with them. Need a new place in the La Mesa area for Pedicures...look Michelle Martinez up at the XO Day Spa. read more
