To be fair, I've been coming to this place for years. I got my first pair of glasses here almost 15 years ago and they've been a satisfactory optometrist. They provide mediocre service at a lowest possible cost. You get functional glasses/lenses and everything works. But here's the rub. They won't let you refill your prescriptions through a third-party discount website. I tried to order a pair of contacts through a website and they told the website that my prescription had expired. If I wanted a pair of contacts, I'll need a new exam. They then offered to sell me the SAME PAIR OF CONTACTS for 50% more money without an eye exam. Whatever they're doing, it's pretty unethical. It's either not good medical practice to sell lenses on old prescriptions. Or it's fine. But you cannot possibly expect me to believe that the only store that can sell lenses on old prescriptions is the same store I got the prescription from. read more

This place really pissed me off today so much that I had to sign up just to warn new customers. Do not go here they will rip you off, it is their business practice. (by the way this is a Chinese store and I'm Chinese) I've been coming here for years but I have no idea why, but I think today is my last time going there. They always have this routine where they make you write your name and birthday on a piece of paper. This must be part of the ruse. This was the place where I walked into the store, and stood there for half an hour before anyone noticed me or asked if I needed help. I'll admit I didn't ask them first that time just to see how long it would take, since something similar happened before but this time I was making eye contact with everyone there but they are oblivious. Anyway I went in today to get my lens fixed because they were scratched. I was the ONLY customer in the whole store since it was half an hour to closing time, there were three employees just chit chatting in Chinese about nothing related to the business, one was on the computer but was part of the conversation while the other two were directly talking to each other. And a fourth person in the back actually doing work fixing the glasses for a customer. They completely ignored me and didn't even bother to stop chatting for a good fourty seconds until some boss lady walked by and asked if I was being helped then one of the girls broke away and came over to "help" me. This is where it gets good. The boss lady told me they couldn't fix it and I said ok, let's replace the lens then. The girl took over did the name on paper routine and immediately started writing stuff on a receipt without even bothering to look at me and talk about the price. Then she had the balls to say a line like, "Did you know there is a chance that replacing the lens will damage your glasses when they put it in". She made some gestures with her fingers about fitting lens into the frame. I stared at her not believing what I just heard. She saw that I wasn't buying it and quickly added, "But it has never happened before" Well then I thought to myself, "why do you even bring it up then?" It was obviously a lame ass attempt at making me buy NEW frames rather than just getting replacement lens. She had nothing to say to me when I said, "Well then I don't need to pay you if you break it" and kept writing. But if you think about it, they would need to put new lens into this new frame in the same way they would my current frame. Unless she is implying that somehow by buying new frames it would guarantee me good service rather than me being dumb and gambling that I'll get bad service if I just replace the lens instead. I just went there today, not a busy day, so I get helped right away. Last week I drooped by a few glasses stores in flushing comparing the price, this one is the biggest but not the most expensive one. I was surprised that some smaller stores charges more for the same frames. I tried a few frames, and the sales person didn't recommend me with super high price frames. She gave me right advise on which pair looks better on me and helped me to choose a $178 Rayban over a $250 Calvin Klein. I am really satisfied having my eye exams here. The doctor was really patient, and professional. I had my eye exam somewhere 2weeks ago, but I thought it is not correct, and this doctor give me a result closer to my previous prescription. In the end, I got my new glasses in 1 hour! I've came here for a while now, since I was a kid. Matter of fact, my whole family comes here for glasses. Their service is great. I was able to pick up my glasses two days after I ordered them. I went to a couple different eyeglasses stores to check out their prices and not surprised that Flushing Optical gave me the most reasonable price out here. first of all, i do not agree above review. i did have great great experience shop in this store.second, the price is reasonal, third, service is 100% satisfied. while i walk in the store, they all greet me. i felt warm. it looks like the familiy. when i tried to order the glasses with my vision insurance. they pick the right glasses for me (which fitting on me) and they also gave me good comment. especailly, i get really good comment from the sales young girl, i forgot her name. she gave me her opinion which one is good for work (professional), which for is good for other than work. at the end , because she provided excellent customer service to me, my other two friends also order her glasses and contact lense in this store. 100% recommendation. I made an appointment with Chloe on Saturday first and went there on Sunday afternoon for the first time visit. The place was clean and bright. Although there were many customers, staff was still very patient and nice. Mimi helped me the whole process, she's very professional and knowledgeable. I came to purchase contact lenses. The doctor was professional. He did a very thorough check and gave me some suggestions. I bought Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys with reasonable prices. I came with my friend who didn't have a plan to buy anything. But because their nice and professional services she did an eye exam and tried contact lenses at last. read more

Similar to other reviewers, I urge you to NOT GO HERE for your glasses/contact lenses. My family and I have been customers at this location for years and we just found out that their policy for writing contact lens prescriptions is completely ILLEGAL. In short, they offer an eye exam for contact lenses and glasses but will NOT give you the contact lens prescription unless you buy their package--(at minimum) a half year supply of contact lenses from them. Rendering it impossible for you to order your contacts online/from other businesses. Do not fall for this tactic because as consumers, we are protected by federal law from businesses who may experience this specific conflict of interest. We referred to the Fairness to Consumers of Contact Lenses Act (signed in 2004) which "requires prescribers to give patients a copy of their contact lens prescriptions at the end of a contact lens fitting, even if the patient doesn't ask for it" (http://www.business.ftc.gov/documents/bus62-contact-lens-rule-guide-prescribers-and-sellers) but the salespeople and manager continued to be on the defensive and stated that their store policy does not allow them to give contact lens prescriptions without the purchase of contact lens even if you fully pay for an eye exam. This is an underhanded and illegal way of forcing their customers to buy their overpriced contact lenses from them. I will definitely be looking elsewhere for my glasses and contact needs. read more

I just want to say thank you by writing this review. They really helped me when I was selecting glasses. I've been having difficulties in selecting my frame because of my "unique taste". I've been searching for the most suitable frame for a long time and finally I got it here. I didn't have so much patience of myself on finding it. Therefore, i guess it's all due to the efforts of their sales representative, who did spend one hour helping me out there. I went to get my dad's glasses and vision checked- the reviews on yelp weren't so great but decided to try the place out anyway because they took my dads insurance. At the front it was very busy with a lot of customers and a lady named Nikki ( i believe) greeted us and helped us she was very nice and pleasant. We picked out the frame for my dads glasses and went to the back to get his eye checked by an optometrist. The optometrist was a young lady named Michelle and the first thing she asked my dad was' do you speak English?' Which is fine, because its flushing where theres a lot of asian people who dont speak English well- so I told her no but I'm here to translate. Then she started performing the eye exam and asked him questions like which side do you see better red or green, can you read the second line, etc. At first everything was going well until it seemed like my dad wasn't giving her the ' correct' answer or the answer she was expecting. She started getting impatient and saying ' are you sure you think number one is clearer? look again' and then she sighs loud for me to hear and continues with the exam. Then when re-doing the color exam where she asks him red or green better he kept telling her he thought green was better. And she said are you sure again and says how about now, now? yeah? well you cant see because now its black. Then she sighs again. We re-do the exam where my dad reads letters from different lines. And she says 'read the second line' and as my dad is reading the letters he didnt read all of them in order he prolly mixed them up or he's read a little bit from first or third because he has cataract and he went through surgery which she knows. She interrupts and says 'are you sure he's reading the second one?' with an annoyed tone. Basically throughout the whole exam she was upset and annoyed that she had to re-do some of the exam and kept asking my dad 'are you sure? is he reading it right? how about now? ofcourse not you cant see anything now because nothings there to see'. I was about to ask her if shes upset and then leave the place but we had to go back to work and had no time to go to another optometrist. So i didn't say anything and she become less annoyed after doing another exam and let my dad finish the exam but in a hurried manner. Michelle may have been a qualified optometrist but shes very unprofessional and the worst experience ive ever had with an optometrist. If she was annoyed or upset that my dad wasn't responding correctly or not understanding something she could've told him or explained to him instead of sighing loudly, looking annoyed, sounding pissed off and straight up being rude. The staff there and people at the front are very nice. As we were leaving Nikki asked for a review on yelp and those two stars are for her because she very helpful and so are the rest of the people except the optometrist. read more

I don't recommend this place, glasses frames are expensive here, and I know they get them very cheap from the vendors. The doc who gave me the eye exam was ok, didn't feel rushed. Some of the sales people are obnoxious here, which I don't understand. If you're in customer service, you're supposed to be polite and nice to your customers. You could hardly see a smile upon entering the store, which is ok, but they all stare at you and you don't feel welcomed. Anyways, I was there to pick up my new eye glasses which I paid almost $400, there were only 2 people there that day sitting down doing nothing, when I walked in, no one came to greet me, so I shouted out what I was there for, one older woman used a finger and asked me to come forward to her by the end of the shop while still sitting down, I find that really rude n unprofessional. I gave her the receipt for pick up, she went to get my glasses, came back and gave to me with no facial expressions, didn't ask me to try on or anything at all, she had me sign and that was it, end of story. Wow, they didn't care at all, once they made money on you, that's it. There were tons of other optical shops, try somewhere else for better service n price. This place is still in business because of the new immigrants who can't find a second option to go to. read more
