You have to look carefully to find the vision center. It's on the first floor of a residential building. I came here since they accepted my healthfirst insurance. I searched for a local spot in elmhurst. The pictures you find on Yelp are old photos since they moved 2 blocks away from the old spot. The staff is helpful and nice. The eye doctor exceeds my expectations, seems to be very caring, and wanted me to be covered fully by my insurance by not paying out of pocket. He is very knowledgeable and has 20+ years experience in this field. He answered my concerns and questions. I recommend this location for everyone. read more

I now can confirm that the reviews are true. My wait was about 20 minutes, but it's not like too long. The office where you have your eye exams and tests is immaculate. The best thing is that Dr. Chuang patiently describes the steps before he goes forward. This is great for people who have anxiety going to get their eye exams which I do for most doctor visits and appointments. I was happy to find an eye doctor who is empathic, especially since I arrived with some pain in my right eye. The staff are all approachable and supportive. Came here for the first time because of all the positive reviews and I'm happy I did! I had made an appointment over the phone to schedule an eye exam (note: no eye exams on Sundays as of when I called) which was a breeze. When I got there the day of my appointment Betty who worked at the front desk helped me. Dr. Chuang who did my exam was kind and great at informing me of what the equipment he was using was for and why he did the procedures he did. This wasn't something I often experienced at the optometrist so I was pleasantly surprised because it really felt like he cared for his patients. He was meticulous and assured me that the equipment was cleaned prior and after usage each time we moved machines. At the end, he allowed me to test out a glasses prototype that allows the switching of lens to try on which I've never even seen before; it made me wonder why other shops didn't have that same equipment! After the exam, I had asked Betty if they had a specific style of glasses but they didn't seem to have them. She suggested some similar choices and had let me try on a few pairs, but didn't pressure me at all and very accommodating. Dr. Chuang is friendly, professional and thorough. I appreciate that he takes the time to educate the patient. He makes sure to inform me about what I can expect with certain changes in my vision, and he's also the first optometrist I've encountered who showed me the appropriate way to apply contact lenses that makes it a breeze to wear them comfortably. He also listens to my concerns and takes them into account in his process. The front desk staff take care of each patient promptly and make it a fairly quick and simple process to come in and out. Dr. Chuang is AWESOME! He will not try to sell you something you don't need/want. He is very knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge with you. You will not feel rushed out of the room with him. His front of the house staff on the other hand could use some "customer service" training. My husband and mom came here for an eye exam and they had a great experienced. But when I came here, I asked if I can look at the frames prior to making an appointment. I explained that if I can't find a specific frame here, the. there is no point getting my exam done since they won't be able to provide the glasses I want. Went to this eye doctor twice; the first time for contacts about a year ago and the second time for an eye examination for glasses fairly recently. When first getting my contacts, the eye doctor was very friendly and accommodating. He made sure to address any issues I had with the fit of the contacts. I was given a second pair of trial lenses after I complained about the fit of the first ones. Very happy with my contacts purchase. The second time I went, I got an eye examination for glasses. I called in to ask about the price and he said that it is 40 dollars for the eye glasses examination; however if you buy glasses in the store, the price of your examination goes towards your new pair of glasses! This is a review for Dr Chaung: I haven't been to an eye exam in several years. In fact, after my follow-ups from Lasik surgery, I hardly felt the need to. Only recently, I experienced some halo effects during night time driving. When I met with Dr Chaung he made me feel at ease, didn't give me a hard time for not doing regular exams, and never pressured me to purchase eyeglasses. Frankly, I could've left the place with the $10 copay and be done with it but after learning my vision prescription was borderline acceptable for driving, the responsible thing to do was to get some nighttime driving glasses. Came here earlier this year, around May, to get some daily contacts. Before we started the exam, the doctor went over the price range of what my requested contacts would be. He didn't hide anything, he told me how much this and this would be. To me, that's huge because I don't like surprises. He set me up with some daily contacts and they worked fine. I stopped by a few days ago to get new glasses and extended wear contacts. The receptionist told me he couldn't find my insurance in their systems, which was weird cause previously they said it was fine, but I assumed it was cause I just switched my insurance provider. I mentioned it to the doctor and he took care of it. Didnt take more than 5 minutes. Overall, I enjoy coming here. I usually call before I come to make sure the wait isn't too crazy because I'm impatient. Doctor is very cool and does care about how the glasses/contacts feel on you. Went here late evening on a Friday night for a eye check up so I could get a prescription for my contacts. Different pricing depending on what kind of examination for glasses, contacts, and whether you have astigmatism but this only matters if you don't have insurance coverage. Staff was pretty direct and to the point so it feels like a very no frills place though I feel they could be a bit more warmer and welcoming. The eye doctor was simply amazing, super chill and very good with sharing information about your eyes and making suggestions to maintain their health. You can tell he definitely knows his stuff. I recently moved to Elmhurst and popped in without an appointment hoping to fill a contact lens prescription from a previous optometrist. Dr. Chuang laid out all of my options, and guided me towards the one that would yield me the highest value, and no out-of-pocket expense, though he easily could have pointed me towards a payment of $80 or more. Worst service. I called to pickup my prescription and even confirmed that I can get it the same day- the guy said yes and confirmed that I can pick it up in an hour. When I got there they told me the doctor just left and I have to come back the next day. This is really inconvenient considering I have to leave work early just to get there on time. First time visiting here to get prescription lens for my glasses, the staff was great but when it comes to price it gets tricky. For the price they gave me i clearly told them i need anti-reflective coating and guess what? they didnt and just put on regular lens. i think i can tell the difference if they thought that i wouldnt know. I was due for an eye exam and also needed to renew my contact lenses. I am so lucky to have stumbled across this store. Dr.Chuang has been practicing since '03 and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. He explains all the procedures and gives you the low down on the health of your eyes. He also gave a breakdown of costs and explained how to optimize my insurance compensation to get the most out of the service. Prices are competitive with other locations, $85 for contact lense exam and $180-235 for a year supply of lenses. I'm sure you can find a place that is slighty cheaper but trust me, no other place will give you a better exam than Dr.Chuang. I've been going to several places throughout the past few years and everyone just wants to get you in and out, but Dr.Chuang takes the time to make sure you leave satisfied. The eye doctor was excellent and really explained everything clearly, honestly and expertly. He knows his stuff. He explained my perscription and why I needed it, and what type of glasses to get. On a slight down side, some of the staff are not expert on lenses. I wanted transitions lenses but needed some advice. I had already done my research so it all worked out, but maybe the staff could brush up on their knowledge of transition type lenses. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and were not in the slightest way pushy. I was given my written prescription immediately after the exam. (Some places try to avoid doing this to coerce you into buying their lenses, but not here. ) I would recommend this place and will be back again. read more

Driver's License exam - very pleased! I called at the last minute and they were able to accommodate my eye exam needed for my driver's license renewal. Dr. Chuang was very helpful, and filled out the paperwork clearly and accurately. As a bonus, since the driver's license exam is simpler than a full eye exam, they only charge $20. Other eye doctors would have charged much more, and since my insurance deductible was $40, Queens Vision Center is a no-brainer. read more
