But because he does not have insurance he also had to pay a doctor checkup fee of $250. It doesn't make sense that we paid almost a thousand dollars for a pair of glasses, and yet we still have to pay the doctor fee? Here is some even more good news: they charge a credit card fee if you don't pay cash Its 2026 and you are a business and still charging credit card fees come on man. Been wearing CRT lens for 16 years and still going - Dr. Amy Chen is knowledgeable and caring

I have been coming here for over 8 years and all the staff here have been very friendly and welcoming. Though it can get very crowded, the wait time has never been too long from my experiences. Would recommend this place. Update: I've come here a few times since I posted my review (about a year ago) and I've felt unwelcome by some of the receptionists. I get it, it's early and we all want to be in bed but, they really could work on their tone and body language. I really didn't want to write this since I genuinely do love this place. UPDATE They called to tell me to pick up my glasses, which I was confused because they told me they lost my glasses. Assuming they called specifically to tell me to pick my glasses up, I go on the coldest day of the week. They take the tray out and it's empty. Are they kidding me? Is this some childish prank? What a complete waste of time, since the beginning. The longest wait of my life for the appointment, the longest waits for countless phone calls, and now this. Even after 2 weeks, its evident that these problems are consistent. They then proceed to post up a note saying the following: "We are happy to adjust/repair your glasses and to make new prescription lenses for your own frame. We will take the utmost care in handling it. However, we are not responsible for any damages that may occur. Thank you!" So this tells me that they will not take the utmost care because they will not be responsible for their mistakes, and thus, no consequences. Keep in mind this is a small place; there should be no excuse for losing my frames hours later it was given to them. Again, if you can't trust them to execute a simple task, which was not to lose glasses, how can you trust them to do anything at all. On top of that, what a complete waste of my time. I really love Dr. Chen because she's really knowledgeable and caring. I've had CRT contacts for a few years but decided to switch to soft lense contacts just recently. However, Irene has the WORST attitude and I've always gotten bad vibes from her. I would love to keep coming here but honestly Irene always ruins my experience. read more

Dr. Amy Chen has been my eye doctor for 13 years and counting. I first went to her because she offered the Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) treatment program; the CRT lenses are FDA approved custom-made contact lenses that reshape my cornea as I sleep. This has significantly slowed the progression of my nearsightedness, as I can see perfectly during the day without the use of contacts or glasses. Dr. Chen is extremely professional, kind, and efficient. She definitely cares about her patients and makes you feel very comfortable. Throughout the 13 years on the CRT lenses, Dr. Chen has made sure I have retained my perfect vision, and has responded to any of my questions promptly and calmly. In addition to her exceptional care, her staff is also very welcoming. As a college student in Boston, it has been very difficult to pull times for my annual check-ups as I am limited to the short winter and spring break time frames. However, Dr. Chen's staff, Irene, in particular, has been extremely accommodating to my schedule and always squeezes in a time for my appointment. Highly recommend her care and service! read more

I've been going to this eye center for 10 years and have not had a single bad experience. Amy Chen is exceptional and offers corneal refractive therapy (CRT) which has significantly improved my day to day experience with far-sightedness by allowing me the simplicity of contacts as well as the freedom to not wear glasses or contacts in the day. This doctor (if you can call her that) is a money-hungry MONSTER. My son's vision was getting bad. The doctor recommended CRT lenses, and said if the lenses were a bad fit, we could get some of our money back. But even though after the first time it didn't work, she kept on insisting that we keep trying. after three times, we had to accept that it didn't work, and wanted some of our money back. But she didn't give the money back. she kept on telling us to try, and try, and try. We wasted about 2,500$. In the end, my eyes were ruined. Also sometimes we have to wait 3 or more hours AFTER the appointed time. zero stars, even though yelp won't let me. read more

A lot of people talk about getting CRT here and that is what I did. Upon first impression, they're very nice even thought the wait was very long. They allow you to make appointments at 9am even thought the doctor does not come in until 10am so there is always a wait. When I went home with the CRT contacts they ordered for me, I felt that they did not fit correctly and my eyes were hurting. I asked that my moms return to them and check the contacts. My mom came back and said one of the employees (older woman) checked and confirmed with my prescription. Then I went back in person because my eyes were seriously hurting and found the actual doctor Amy Chen and when she checked my contacts, she left the room in a hurry to talk to someone. Then she returned all embarrassed and said "you know, these things are common, people make mistakes." But this is supposed to be a proper establishment and something bad could have seriously happened to my eyes if I hadn't insisted to go to the doctor in person. EVEN WORSE is that because my whole family was enamored upon first impression, they all switched over and ALL complained. My sister had glasses from this place that switched her left and right lens curvature so she was dizzy every time she wore her glasses. She only found out once she switched eye doctors again. Both my mom and aunt got glasses that still did not work as well as other glasses they got from other eye places. What is funny is that the guy behind the counter got my aunt to buy extra things to "improve" her glasses-wearing experience (a total of $50 extra) and she couldn't even wear them in the end. Honestly, I am seeing a trend. They are good at conversation, but they are not good at their actual job. They have messed up the prescriptions at least once with everyone in my family and they always hike up prices to get the most money they can out of you. Especially the (pretty and old) Malaysian woman up at the front. She honestly reminds me of a snarky and mean mom. I have seen a mother come in with her daughter complaining that her daughter's contacts led her to not be able to see this morning, and the Malaysian woman said "What do you mean she can't see? She's walking properly. Don't spew lies." Not the best customer service there at all. 10/10 would not recommend. Perks: They have lollipops. read more

When my prescription jumped up about 150 degrees within a year, Dr. Amy recommended​ that I started wearing CRT lenses to keep my vision from getting any worse. It's​ been five years and my vision remains unchanged, and I have her to thank for that. Been going here for the last few years for my CRT thing and everything has been great, as my vision hasn't gotten worse. With the contacts, I'm basically 20/20. My astigmatism is harder to treat but I'd just chalk that up to my vision being pretty bad already. Doctor's super friendly, staff is good. I made an appointment for 11:30 A.M. I got here around 11:10 A.M and I waited till 12 for someone to call me in. Once I got called in, they realized they had way too many people inside already so the lady had me sit back outside. I don't understand why this place requires appointments, but don't follow them. I didn't get sent back in till 12:20. They spent around 5 minutes taking pictures of my eye and scanning my eyes. I was sent back out and then waited until around 2:30 the doctor met with me. This place sucksssss. I walked in on a Saturday to MAKE an appointment, because I know this place is always packed so I wanted to be sure that I secured a spot and not have to wait too long. However, the receptionist asked me which days I can come in next week. I told her Tuesday, and she said I can walk in anytime before 2:00 and I'll be able to see the doctor. Didn't even bother to help me make an appointment even though that was the first thing that I asked about. Then when it's Tuesday, I walked in for my eye examination and the other receptionist that was working told me that I can't see the doctor because they have a lot of people waiting that made appointments. I told her that I was told to do a "walk in" on Tuesday and she was like "That receptionist probably told you to call us to make an appointment" Wait wait wait hold up. Then why couldn't she make me an appointment in the first place when I PHYSICALLY WALKED INTO THE DAMN PLACE. I complained a little, then the girl was like I'll have to wait 2-3 hours if I want to see the doctor. What the actual fuck. They don't even look that busy.. Their place only had a bunch of little kids running around which made it "look like" it was busy. I took a fucken 1hr 40 minutes ride from Long Island just to get my eye examination. I didn't come for such bullshit and crap service. That receptionist had such a rude attitude and spoke as if I was the one at fault. What a waste of my time. Ended up going to NuEyes that was in front of it and got a eye examination with little to no wait time at all with wayyyyyy better service. Oh yeah forgot to add.. There's a asian lady with short hair and glasses working at the glasses counter and she told me that if I wanted anti glare on my lens, I would have to pay $60. Then after stopping by another place, I found out it's only $40. So thus, this place not only have crap attitudes, they are also liars who tries to cheat your money. read more

Just wanted to clarify that the 20/20 vision is the daytime vision after wearing CRT nightly day after day. The effect of using CRT lenses is reversible, unlike Lasik surgery. If she doesn't use it for a week, her vision returns back to -8. read more

This used to be a great place, but it's just going down in shambles in terms of its service. Poor attitudes, all they care about is money. You might get quality service your first time around, but once you stick with this place, they don't care about you anymore because they assume you'll just stick with it. But it's so terrible that I will not come here anymore, nor will my family members, or any person I know. The receptionists have poor attitudes, the doctor, the people at the glasses counter. Do not ever waste your money/insurance to come to this place. My sister went in for an eye exam 5 months ago and tried to order contact lenses online because it's way cheaper that way. To order contacts, the online company must call your eye doctor to make sure the prescription is valid. This place refused to verify the prescription was valid (which by the way is illegal) because they are money hungry, and when my sister called got completely yelled at by the crazy short Asian lady with glasses working there! My own experiences are equally as bad. I ordered new lenses for my glasses and paid upfront. I arrived a week later after they called me to get my lenses installed into my glasses. After I got them installed and left they called me back saying I still haven't paid! So I went back to see what was going on and they said "The doctor has given you a special price on the lighter lenses so you need to pay 20 more dollars." I did not consent at all to this, and I refused to pay money for something they installed into my glasses without my consent, and then asking me to pay for it! The lady (the same lady that yelled at my sister) started yelling at me and cursing, and told me to give the lenses back. She literally took my glasses, removed the lenses they just installed in it, and put my old lenses back and told me to come back next week because they have to order the cheaper ones. So basically, they ordered something more expensive without my consent and forced me to pay for it. When I refused they got mad and removed the lenses from my glasses and told me to come back in another week, thus wasting my time and transportation money. Don't waste your time/money. I will be reporting this place to the better business bureau for shady sales practices. read more

Came here for eye exam and on day of picking up new prescription glass, was asked to go inside for additional eye exams. Dawned on me that the Advanced Eye Center makes lots of money by doing many unnecessary eye exams. Dr. Amy Chen is an OD, yet her business card list her as having both MD and OD. Was only able to locate her OD credentials and unable to locate her medical licensure in the NYS License verification site. Beware and avoid this place. read more

I wish i can give negative stars, this place is so garbage. I came two times in the past and today i came again. The past two times, i had appointment at 12PM and they had me waited from 12 PM to 6 PM until the doctor gave me the informations. This time they did it again, waited 6 hours. Their attitudes were shit especially the main doctor and the old guy in the front that give u glasses. They have sofa for people to sit in the front but it barely fit 6 people, plus, there's so many mosquitos and flies around this area due to the plants nearby.
