Worst experience ever!! My wife and I were sitting in the waiting area on a nice sunny day when about 20 gallons of water blew all over us from the tent behind us soaking our clothes, my service dog and destroying our phones and my wife's purse. I called 5 times to get my phone replaced and each time they said someone would call back. On the last time I called she said it was our fault for sitting there (the waiting area) and that we saw the water fall before, which was an absolute lie. Two friends and I went to Florida Cracker Kitchen for breakfast this morning. We arrived about 9am and were warmly greeted and immediately seated. I am a huge fan of Shrimp and Grits and have enjoyed ordering it at many different restaurants. Upon seeing it on the menu at Florida Cracker I knew that I had to give it a go. I tell you it was fantastic! I'd never seen a sauce used in Shrimp/Grits that was tomato based. It surely works! I liked the grit cakes. I don't think just cooked grits would have worked nearly as well. The serving was a nice sized portion and appropriately priced at $14. The restaurant, including the restrooms, were clean and well appointed. Florida Cracker Kitchen is a fifty minute drive from my home, so frequent visits aren't practical, but I will return as often as I feel I can justify a treat. read more

What a revelation! This is the bar to beat. And I mean this in just about every sense of the word. First, get there early. Even on the rainiest of days like today? There will be a line. It went quick though as we arrived about 9AM. Breakfast was hearty, scrumptious and left me wishing I had more than one stomach... seriously. My nephew spoke to me about the place for years! You see, I'm a breakfast person. I drive one way to Lancaster, PA for two hours at 4:30AM to arrive at Shady Maple Smorgasbord by 7AM. Once he saw this, he has told me I must come here. I prepared. I reviewed the menu on the website the night before. I was between two items. But on no! The actual menu on site had more! Much more. Now I was in a quandary. Everything was a temptation. And the stomach was already rumbling twenty minutes into the drive here. So the decision had to made. My family who are regulars already knew what they were getting. The niece - French toast. The nephew - the Chicken and Waffles. The sis - Hen House scramble with sausage gravy on the side. The BIL - two pancakes, two sunny side ups etc. My dad ordered the Okeechobee Gumbo to-go, and the shrimp & grits for here. Turns out the waitress brought out the Gumbo first things ready to eat. And dad was like. It's ok. I'll eat this and take home the main. Well he scarfed down that gumbo! And finished off the main in to blinks of my eye! He's like we don't need to go anywhere else! This is THE place. High compliment from him let me tell you. I enjoyed half of my Cracker Cristo Sandwich - French toast, scrambled egg, American cheese, ham, topped with powdered sugar. Added a fine drizzle of maple syrup Mmmmm. The photo has my hand for size perspective. The table ordered a Cinnamon Roll and between five people, we still had a bit left over. The icing was enough to enjoy by all. The place is homey, local culture flavor. The decor is a fun mix of fishing, hunting, old citrus labels, Coppertone sunscreen, dairy and other advertisements. The place is a love really. And the staff are as well. Second stop, the bar next door. I didn't partake - but all that were not driving, did. That will need to be a separate review in a future where I don't drive us there. Third, the shop. Get the gear you need with the artistic touch of Florida Cracker. Make sure to walk around. There's much to consider from cotton and sun block T-shirts in a myriad of colors and styles including college mascots to hunting camo, Yeti brand products and gifts for your fur babies. Andddd a selection of alcohol that you can try at the bar first and purchase here to bring the taste and memories home. As I said, I'll be back. And I hope not too far from now. We recently went to this restaurant during a nostalgic trip to the Brooksville area. I spent part of my childhood living in the area and hadn't been back for a while other than to just head to a family member's place and head home. Next to the restaurant, there is a bar with outdoor seating and you can choose to order food to go and eat outside if you wish. We placed an order and went over to have a drink while we waited. We were more comfortable eating outside since it's during COVID. The outside area was nice with one exception; there were a lot of bees buzzing around. Logically, I know they are generally harmless and have a positive effect on the environment, but I am still quite afraid of them. It was distracting for me personally to be there with a lot of them flying around. If this doesn't bother you, then you should be fine since the people I was with were okay with it as well as anyone around us, but it's something to keep in mind if they make you anxious. Once our food was ready, my friends were very gracious and suggested we eat in the car since I was scared of our pollinator guests (thankful for kind and patient friends!) The food is really good! My boyfriend and I shared the country fried steak with eggs and potatoes and a side of gator bites. The gator bites were delicious! They were lightly battered and had a great flavor. The country fried steak was tender and their gravy is delicious. The eggs were nice and fluffy. The potatoes weren't as seasoned and crispy as I usually like, but not bad when mixed with the gravy from the steak. All of the staff members were friendly as well.
