This trip, I brought a friend and we finally made it. The food was a mix of excellent and not‑so‑great. The peel‑and‑eat shrimp were absolutely delicious, the mussels were great, and the fish sides were wonderful. Chicken strips were solid. The mushrooms, however, were not enjoyable at all in my opinion. The building has a lot of old Florida charm, but it's definitely due for a thorough update. One thing that concerned me was the warm ketchup sitting on the table -- sauces that can spoil should really be brought out fresh with the meal. The staff I interacted with were fantastic -- very kind, well‑mannered, and quick with service. I've read some concerning things about how the manager treats people, so I'm grateful I didn't have any encounter with him during my visit. The band outside was extremely loud, so we chose to sit indoors, but at least there are options. Watching the alligators in the swamp below was definitely entertaining. No one checked if we needed anything while we dined, just kept walking in front of us in the bar- I requested our check and we paid. Based on this experience, try them out if your goal is to get some good food with minimal service and you have patience and time to spare.
