Updated Review I've waited years to finally try Baylor Inn. I'm only in town occasionally, and between hurricane damage and timing, I could never get in. This trip, I brought a friend and we finally made it. The food was a mix of excellent and not‑so‑great. The peel‑and‑eat shrimp were absolutely delicious, the mussels were great, and the fish sides were wonderful. Chicken strips were solid. The mushrooms, however, were not enjoyable at all in my opinion. The building has a lot of old Florida charm, but it's definitely due for a thorough update. One thing that concerned me was the warm ketchup sitting on the table -- sauces that can spoil should really be brought out fresh with the meal. The staff I interacted with were fantastic -- very kind, well‑mannered, and quick with service. I've read some concerning things about how the manager treats people, so I'm grateful I didn't have any encounter with him during my visit. The band outside was extremely loud, so we chose to sit indoors, but at least there are options. Watching the alligators in the swamp below was definitely entertaining. The place is huge, but the entrance is confusing, and I had to ask where to go. Overall, I can see where improvements are needed, but I can also appreciate the charm and history of the place. read more

My husband and our good friends took me to Bayport Inn for my birthday dinner. The service was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious. The ambience was great! One thing I need to mention is that their iced tea is $4.25 a glass. In my opinion that is way too much. Also something you need to remember is that if your order comes with french fries they give you the option of either getting sweet potato fries or something different but they don't tell you that it's a two dollar charge to switch. So be careful changing or adding this and that. We never had to ask for a refill our waitress checked on us very often, made sure everything was OK, brought us extra things when we needed it. The clam strips were very fresh and I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The food is very good very fresh and very well prepared. If you haven't tried Bayport Inn, I highly recommend you give them a try. It's a very lively place and depending on the time you get there, it can either be quiet or loud because there's so many people. Definitely give them a try. Not enough handicap parking spots. You can park in their private space or across the street in the grass. read more

I was supposed to meet a group from the YMCA, but I messed up the time. I was there anyway, so I figured I love this place. I'll have dinner. Great bartender and staff. I'm not great with names so I forgot his name, but he was a real nice guy. I was gonna have catfish again because I love it, but I decided on that all you could eat fried fish swai and steamed shrimp all you can eat. It was only $18.99 and I had two plates and it was delicious and it came with coleslaw. This is one of my favorite restaurants and it's close to home. You must try it either that or you're crazy for not going there either being a local or a tourist. They survived the two hurricanes from 2024 and made a comeback after 6 feet of water!!!!! read more

Megan was our server and she was excellent very personable. As she took our order she noted that one in our party had the same phone cover. She really took good care of our party of 6. And the food was served hot. Tasty gator nuggets, garlic Parmesan wings, cod sandwich with sweet potato fries and soap were all good. We ordered margaritas and were happy with the price...2 for $7.00 during happy hour. They also have live music, but we left before it started. There was a renovated motel next day that is part of Bayport Inn where vendors were quickly redoing while open for business. Was impressed that they totally redid the deck and restaurant after being devastated by the 2024 hurricanes. They reopened in December with all new tables, a completely renovated kitchen and new awning. read more

We love coming here, we love sitting out on the patio and listening to the entertainment. The service is always great, the food is so good. We especially love the seafood, and the menu has a great assortment. I had the Clam Strip basket and my husband got the Broiled Mermaid seafood platter, they were cooked to perfection. read more

This restaurant is huge. We had a large party and this was a great place. The place is decorated in a nautical theme. Our server was amazing. She covered our 15 person table and didn't miss anything . I got the all you could eat fish . It was crispy and fresh. I only ate the first plate. It was plenty. My salad was fresh with good dressing. My wife got the mahi that was seasoned perfectly crispy. It was moist and fresh . Her onion rings were crispy. I tried some of the shrimp that was steamed. We lived in Spring Hill for 10 years before moving a year or so ago. We always loved going to the Bayport Inn, especially for the AYCE shrimp or fish specials. My wife also enjoyed the whole-fried-fish option. Casual environment, good location. Music on weekends. Our go-to place when visitors were in town. Nothing like it here in Las Vegas :-( read more

Bayport Inn is definitely the locals favorite seafood joint in the area as four different people directed us here when we randomly asked people where to go for lunch. Situated at the dead end of HWy 50 Cortez Blvd on the water, we were greeted by a old rustic wood inn with a great large open patio on the water. Seafood Focused menu was heavily skewed to fried options, a few could be broiled, but not many, and an Italian section of standard items and prime rib & 2 chicken items was also available. Friday's they have all U can eat fried shrimp or cod which was the most recommended item by locals we talked to as best value. For appetizers, we ordered steamed clams which was a plate full of tiny, underwhelming Manila clams and a good portion of six large, but relatively tasteless, heavily breaded crab stuffed mushrooms. Since I was limited to fried fish with cod (unexciting) or grouper ( have that all the time in Florida) being only fish offered as broiled, I chose the plate of 3 soft shelled crabs which were ample and nicely crispy. My wife had the fried cod which she described as OK. Adding 2 draft beers and a good tip strictly for the good friendly and helpful service the bill came to $100 which struck us as high for an essentially mediocre meal. read more

A group of ladies from my community decided to come for lunch at this wonderful place, and I was so happy that they are still serving wonderful meals in a picturesque location. Unfortunately because our group was large we ate in a private room without any large windows to look at the view. However my favorite is still on the menu - soft shell crabs! I ordered the sandwich that has two crabs with French fries and coleslaw, but asked for a small house salad instead of the fries. Everyone's food came out quickly, and a wonderful basket of cornbread was also brought out for everyone to enjoy. The only improvement is that the cornbread could be heated up a bit. My crabs were delicious, and my seat mate also enjoyed hers as well. This place delivers great quality food in a picturesque setting. read more

Mushrooms stuffed with crab? No... stuffed with breadcrumbs, tasteless. The New Eng Chowder had a speck of clams. Which is odd, clams are inexpensive. Crab cakes (dinner) if that's crab it must have been flown in from somewhere there isn't very good crab. Hey! The Diet Pepsi was delicious! So, what could improve? The food! Normally, I'm very happy when I go here. When I was there Saturday. The hamburgers were disgusting. They tasted frozen and they were cooked to death, even when we asked for medium rare. This place has been my go to place since 1997, today may be my last visit. I don't know if I have ever used the word terrible on a restaurant. The salad was brown, limp lettuce, tomatoes were not ripe and hard. We ordered 3 side salads and 2 we delivered we had to ask the waitress where is the third salad. Everything here was average, except the service. The service was great! The menu is fried food heavy. If you like fried food, this is the place for you, but if you're looking for more grilled options, this might not be your place. The all-you-can-eat fried fish or shrimp is an awesome deal. I'm just not a big fried fish or shrimp person. The drinks were alright. I wouldn't write home about them but I wouldn't turn any of the drinks away either.
