Last time I ordered for pick up I got home and the okra I paid for was not provided. So today (6/6/26) I picked up my order - checked each of the three orders out in my vehicle before leaving and 2 Cole slaws were omitted. Went back in and were given my slaw. The only positive thing i can write in this review is that the servers and service were amazing, but other than that the food was absolutely atrocious. I could compare it to regurgitated baby food. My beans were served cold, chicken had strange lumps of fat, my beverage was served with SALT instead of sugar, and the worst of it all my water tasted like straight chlorine. The cleanliness of the establishment was very concerning, and it did not appear that proper sanitization standards were being maintained. during my visit i noticed roaches which is unacceptable in any food service environment the overall condition of the kitchen and surrounding areas also seemed unclean and poorly maintained. I've been going to Sonny's for 45 years. I used to love It. Always thought it was the best bbq around. Really gone down hill. They've enlarged their menu but lowered their quality. Today I order takeout pulled pork sandwich meal. It was gross. Shredded pork stewed in bbq sauce like a gas station pork sandwich.. It looked like something that had already been eaten. Stewing their pulled pork in sauce is not the way they used to do it. They're going to send me a ticket for a free meal. I'll probably give or throw it away. I love good bbq. So disappointed . We used to love Sonny's . Arrived at 4:45 pm early dinner , surprised to see people waiting. Hostess says it will be 10 minutes we don't have enough servers . We've used Sonny's BBQ catering for a couple of years and probably will not be going there again! This last time, we ordered chopped brisket and received shredded chuck roast. I reached out to Sonny's telling them how disappointed I was and received an "I'm so sorry but please come back again " email. A group of 14 went to dinner on February 20. The food was terrible and cold. The waitress was absolutely awful. She started an argument with one of the folks in our group. His dinner was incorrect and instead of bringing him what he ordered she argued with him. She brought the manager over who was useless. After she took our orders, we never saw her. We waited and waited for our checks. One of the ladies finally got up and went to the desk to ask for our bills. The waitress finally showed up with an attitude. They do not take reservations and when we arrived, the restaurant was practically empty. We had to wait and wait to be seated. We did do a call ahead. This restaurant has paper towel holders with paper towels that you use for napkins. Ours was empty, and she never came to fill it. Some of the bills were incorrect. Beware of them overcharging. The manager finally did make them right. Usually for a party of this size, a restaurant would provide two waitresses. We only had one with an attitude and no customer skills. Dry cold ribs. crunchy, cold, and dry rice. Watery ranch dressing. BBQ sauce containers old enough for the label to have rubbed off, which were still grimy from at least the last few customers. The service was rocky from the start. Took fifteen minutes to see our waitress and get our drink orders in. We were ready for food orders but our waitress (who didn't introduce her self, but I'll call her Methany) was not. Took her an additional fifteen to bring back silverware and take our orders. The hostess said the delay was her fault because she sat two tables to methany at the same time but your hostess was working hard cleaning tables and things most of the time we were there in the largely empty restaurant. I don't think anyone came in before or after us (sat 10/4/23 around 7:15pm) for quite some time. Had to ask for a spoon several times before she brought one. Brought out the salads with the ribs. As to ambiance things are looking pretty run down. They changed the layout which seems like it will accommodate the same or perhaps slightly fewer tables. While neglecting other important things like the men's bathroom and the flooring (which was missing, just raw concrete). The men's bathroom hadn't been serviced in a while and was out of hand towels, the floor was wet and smelled of urine. Everything was dingy, and worn down looking. Someone needs to invest some money in the place to make it look decent again, unless worn out has-been is the aesthetic that is being aspired to. All that said the ribs that weren't thin and dry were fantastic. The sweet potato was a 10/10. I hope this isn't the last death gasp of this franchise location because we do really like eating here. When you want consistently good barbecue, Sonny's is the place to head to. Hubby requested ribs for Father's Day - and that was what he enjoyed! It was a full rack, so he brought some home "in case I get hungry later tonight ", lol. I came into this establishment on a Sunday afternoon, naturally they were busy. I waited about 40 minutes to be seated, and then additional 10 to 15 minutes for a waitress to come by to collect our drink order. My children and I sat there for several minutes and the waitress was tending to other tables surrounding our area, and she never came by to take our food order. It's always humiliating to get up and leave and establishment before taking care of, but I had to work and didn't have time to wait around for as long as we were. This was our second visit to Sonny's in Spring Hill - and unfortunately will be our last. The first thing we noticed was that the entrance walk was filthy and so were the entry doors. Once inside, the lobby floor in front of the host/ess stand was so sticky, even the Host was looking at his shoes to see what he'd stepped in. Now, I might have dismissed this if it we'd visited at the end of a busy Friday night, but this was less than an hour after the restaurant opened on a Sunday at Noon and there were maybe a dozen people in the place. We stood at the host/ess stand for several minutes before we were seated at a booth near the door that was almost as sticky as the lobby floor. We should have excused ourselves and left, but our first visit there had been pretty good, so we decided to stay. Our waitress came to see us promptly and was extremely friendly and our hopes started to rise. We ordered queso with pulled pork, and it was pretty good. For lunch, I ordered a large brisket sandwich with bbq beans, and my wife ordered sliced pork with coleslaw. The brisket sandwich portion was generous, but the brisket was tough, rubbery and had no smoke flavor at all. It really had the texture of boiled meat. The BBQ beans were tasty, but barely warm. My wife's sliced pork portion was ridiculously small, which ended up being OK because it was almost too dry to eat. Her coleslaw, though, was very good. In summary - the staff was friendly and efficient, but the restaurant was dirty, and although the sides were ok, the BBQ was considerably below average. And a dirty BBQ place with lousy BBQ just isn't worth another visit. read more

Our family came for lunch, and they have quite a few lunch options for a reasonable price. I got the ribs with a side of apples, and the ribs were nice and saucy and full of meat. Also a choice between garlic and cornbread but garlic is the way to go. Their other signatures like the sweet tea is incredibly over-the-top sweet and a salad bar that is more to add on than their is variety of food there. Their side items are only okay. Not much in the way of veggies to balance out the delicious BBQ. They have good BBQ items but the rest is a bit hit or miss.
